What I Ordered from Amazon in October 2024

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

After a few months of light Amazon months, October was a big one – for starters, there was another Prime Day, so I purchased a few things that were on sale that had been on my wish list, plus we also went on a trip to Chicago and had to purchase a couple of things for that, and I purchasde several items for holiday gifts + a birthday gift for my niece.  I keep 99% of what we order from Amazon, but every now and then, I’ll have an item that was a “miss”, and this month, I actually had three items that were “misses,” so I’ll be sharing those as well.

Tennis Skirts

I have this tennis skirt in pink, black, and Kelly green, and I love it so much.  It’s, hands down, one of my favorite Amazon purchases of all-time.  Naturally, on Prime Day, I had to stalk them to see if they went on sale as there were two more colors that I’ve been dying to get my hands on, and sure enough, they were deeply discounted as I’d hoped.  I grabbed one in bright red and one in this periwinkle color, and I couldn’t love them more.  These are high-quality skirts with built-in shorts and a back zipper pocket so you can store your key or phone, hands-free.  These are so cute that I’ll wear them out and about all day, and then I can go straight into my workout in them in the evening.  They come in 24 colors, and I would advise you to size up one size as they run a bit small.

CRZ Yoga Naked Feeling Biker Shorts

I’ve been wanting some longer biker shorts to wear with long tees during the summer, and since Target doesn’t sell them in my beloved All in Motion brand (the best leggings ever) I turned to my second favorite brand of leggings to see if they had some, and they delivered!  These biker shorts are soft, the quality is excellent, they don’t ride down, they come in 41 colors (my goodness!), they come in several different lengths, and they are SUPER comfy.  I bought one pair in the six-inch length for wearing with tees, and I also bought a pair in the four-inch length to wear under my favorite fluttery Amazon skirts.  These are true-to-size.

Leather Shorts

So, I decided to be a Halloween version of Taylor Swift’s “22” outfit for Halloween, but I waited until the last minute to order the shorts, so I ordered several different options as most of the sequin options stated that they wouldn’t deliver until after Halloween.  I figured if the sequin shorts didn’t deliver on time, these leather ones would be cute, too.

Sequin Shorts

This was my #1 choice, but when I ordered, they stated that they would deliver within a very window, most of which was after Halloween.  Unfortunately, they did, indeed, deliver after Halloween, so I wasn’t able to wear them.  They are perfect for the Taylor Swift “22” outfit, though.  I was sad I didn’t order them earlier.

Sequin Shorts Option #2

These were the only sequin shorts that were guaranteed to deliver in time for Halloween, but they’re in girls sizing instead of women’s, so I just ordered a girls size 12-13 (the largest they had) and I hoped for the best.  Lol.

Tank

This was an Amazon Prime Day purchase as I’d had it on my wish list, and I wanted to purchase it while it was on super sale.  While the top is seriously gorgeous in person, unfortunately, it was way too cropped, and it showed a lot of my stomach even with my high-waisted jeans, so it got returned.  It killed me to return it, though… if only it was 2-3 inches longer!

Workout Shorts

I have a favorite brand/style of workout shorts that I get from Amazon, and I’m in need of some new ones, but they NEVER go on sale, and I refuse to pay full price for them.  Haha.  So instead, I purchased these to try since another blogger has raved about them, but sadly, they didn’t work for me.  While they were comfortable, unfortunately, they ballooned around my legs and were waaaayyyy longer than the picture shows to the point where they almost looked comical.  They looked so cute on the blogger I follow, though, so I’m not sure if I just got a weird pair or what, but these were returned.

New Balance Walking Shoes

Before our trip to Chicago, I wanted a cute pair of walking shoes, but again, I waited too long to order and didn’t leave myself with many choices.  I decided to try these, and while they are SO cute, they are not comfortable at all.  The soles were pretty hard, and they were really narrow.  I have a very narrow foot, so that’s really saying something.  Haha.  These were returned.

The New Menopause by Mary Claire Haver

I am by no means going through menopause yet – I’m not even sure if I’m technically in perimenopause yet – but I purchased this book by Mary Claire Haver last week at the recommendation of my friend, Christy.  She asked me how I’ve been doing with my vertigo and dizziness, and when I told her I was still having issues, she told me that something to look into is hormone issues.

She said that even though she’s not going through menopause yet, she just finished this book and that it is excellent.  She said that there is a whole entire section on vertigo and dizziness that’s caused by changes in hormones.  At this point, I’m pursuing every avenue, so up next, I’m hoping to have someone run an entire hormone panel to ensure that everything is normal there.  I’ve been getting really bad headaches and brain fog, and my dizziness does tend to ramp up during certain parts of my cycle, so I’m hoping that this book can shed some light on things.

So, if you’re reaching middle age and you’re starting to notice any weird changes here and there, my friend highly recommends reading this book even if you haven’t quite reached the point of menopause.  Once I read it, I’ll report back!

New Morning Mercies for Teens by Paul David Tripp

I have raved about New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp all year long… it is, by far, the best devotional I’ve ever read.  Well, I just discovered recently that Paul David Tripp adapted this devotional for teens, and I couldn’t buy two copies fast enough!  The kids and I read a daily devotional together every morning (we love the ones by Sarah Young), but now that they’re older, I’d like for them to have something with a little more depth.

I thumbed through it already, and it looks like it is going to be every bit as fantastic as the original.  Right now, the hardcover version is only $8.57 (57% off) which is a fantastic deal considering it’s 416 pages and hard cover.  There is one page for every day in the year, and each page starts with an excerpt from scripture, which I also love.  I cannot wait to gift the kids their copies to use for next year!

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Olivia doesn’t love to read, but she’s required to meet an AR goal every quarter for school, so we are constantly in search of good books for her, bonus points if it’s a series that will last her a while.  When she finds a book that she loves, she doesn’t put it down, but the problem is finding a book that she actually does love.  We came across The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot (the same ones that the movies are based on), and I decided to order the first book since our library system didn’t have a copy.  Friends, Olivia DEVOURED this book, and she absolutely loved it.  The great thing about this series is that each book is worth 8-9 points and there are 12 of them so they’ll keep her busy (and meeting her goals) for the rest of this school year and then some!

Loreal Paris Pro-Matte Foundation

I’ve been using this foundation for years, but for several months, I couldn’t find it anywhere online or in-store so I’d assumed they’d discontinued it.  Just as I was about to pull the trigger on a different foundation for the first time in years (much to my dismay), I thought I’d check Amazon one more time with the hope that it would be back in stock, and y’all, it was there!!  Since they had it, I ended up buying five of my regular shade + two of my summer (tan) shade so I could stockpile it in case it’s gone forever after this.  Please don’t buy it because I need them to save it for me.  Haha.

Amazon Basics Mouse

My mouse died, so I bought this Amazon Basics mouse, and I love it!  Amazon Basics offers quality products for a low price, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with it!

Hypoallergenic Cubic Zirconia Stud Set

Olivia loses every pair of earrings she ever gets… I don’t know how… they just seem to fall out of her ears, so we stopped buying her nice ones.  Unfortunately, she has sensitive ears, so she can’t wear cheap ones, but when this set of hypoallergenic studs went on sale on Prime Day, I grabbed them to put in her stocking for Christmas.  They won’t hurt her ears, but we won’t be out a lot of money if they get lost!  Win-win!

Tiny, Portable Sound Machine

Between constant honking and sirens, big cities are notoriously loud day and night.  The city noises coupled with surrounding noises from other hotel rooms can make for a disrupted sleep routine when traveling… I know I always have trouble sleeping when we’re away from home.  Last year, when I traveled to New York City with my Momma, my Aunt Joy, and my cousin Shelby, my Aunt Joy brought along a sound machine, and it did so well blocking out surrounding noises that I slept like a baby on that trip.

Therefore, I decided to buy my own sound machine prior to this trip, and it was wonderful!  This Dreamegg white noise machine is so tiny it fits in the palm of my hand, and therefore, it took up hardly any space in my carryon.  It has 21 different sounds including various classic white noise sounds, nature sounds, and baby lullabies.  It has numerous volume levels and customized timers so you can have it automatically shut off after a specific amount of time.

It has a built-in battery so it’s cordless, and the battery life is ultra long.  We charged it fully before we left, and we were able to run it nonstop all three nights we were in Chicago without having to charge it again (so a total of about 24 hours and it was still going strong).  It also comes with a lanyard and a loop so you can hang it in various places.

I slept like a baby all three nights that we used this thing, and it was just wonderful.  The first night, the kids were having trouble falling asleep in their room because of the street/hotel noise, so we put it in their room, waited for them to fall asleep (which happened quickly once they had the white noise from this machine) and then we moved it back into our room.

I cannot rave about this thing enough!

Parenting by Paul David Tripp

After reading my devotional this year by Paul David Tripp, I want to read everything he writes (he has quite a collection of books over a variety of subjects), so when I saw that this book had been deeply discounted (I only had to pay $8 for this hardcover version) I grabbed it.  I know we’re pretty far along in this parenting journey, but it’s never too late to improve communication, habits, and interactions with our kids, right?  I haven’t started it, but I’ll report back after I read it.

Remote Control Hotwheels Barbie Car

Y’all!  Hotwheels and Barbie teamed up to make this adorable Barbie car and it’s a remote control!!!!  How darling is this?  I grabbed it for my niece for her birthday and she loves it.  This would make such a great holiday gift for so many kids!

Orthodontic Flossers

Orthodontic flossers are soooo expensive, but I finally found some that won’t break the bank.  These are awesome, y’all!  They fit easily under the brackets so you can floss quickly, and there’s a pick at the other end that can be used for hard-to-reach areas.

Turmeric

I take this turmeric daily, and it has done wonders for me!  It was time for a refill, so I grabbed one from Amazon since it’s more affordable than any other place I’ve found!

Happy Monday, y’all!

And if you want to see everything that I ordered in previous months, just check out the posts below!

  1. I have the same problems with earrings often falling out my ears (and I don't know why either)... if I buy anything remotely expensive to wear I make sure they have locking backs. And I bought a set of rubber backings to wear with all the cheaper style earrings which seems to have helped a lot.

  2. I am glad you found your foundation! That gave me a laugh when you said to save it for you! I use to use a noise maker on my phone, but this one sounds great and easy to take anywhere. Have a good Monday!

  4. When I read about the athletic shorts not fitting right, it made me think of some of the things I've ordered that are an exact copy of something I've already ordered and it fits differently. I think all those factories in China change up their patterns periodically! Thanks for linking up!
