What I Ordered from Amazon in August 2024

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I had the smallest month ever for Amazon orders (I only ordered three items, and one was a product refill), so Brian offered to send me some of his purchases from previous months to allow for a more robust post.  ;o)

Ruffled Top

I don’t even remember how I came across this top – I think it showed up in my recommendations?? – but y’all know I am a sucker for a ruffled top.  This one was on a lightning deal when I came across it, so I decided to grab one while it was inexpensive, and y’all, I COULD NOT LOVE THIS TOP MORE.  It is just fabulous.  The bodice is a basic cotton ribbed fabric, but the ruffles are made from a sturdy, stiff cotton, so they won’t ever lose their shape.  It comes in numerous colors, and it would be the perfect date night top.  This top gives a high-quality vibe at an affordable price.

Guitar Christmas Ornament

Every year, each person in our household gets a new Christmas ornament, and I usually try to select something meaningful from the year.  This year, Olivia started taking guitar lessons, so I purchased this guitar ornament for her.  Y’all, this ornament is just darling.  It looks just like a real guitar, but a miniature version.  I can’t believe how realistic it is!  And it was under $10!  It is going to look so cute on our tree this year!

Xyzal

This was a product refill.  I take Xyzal every single day for outdoor allergies, so I go through these bottles quickly, and Amazon always has the best price.  Xyzal is so much better than any other OTC allergy medication, in my opinion.  I've purchased it 16 times on Amazon.  Lol.

That concludes my purchases for the month, so the next ones are from Brian’s cart!

Laptop Case

Olivia’s school gives out laptops for the kids in fifth grade that they get to keep (forever), so they advise purchasing a laptop case to keep them protected so they’ll last as long as possible.  Olivia wanted a purple one, so Brian found this one for her and she loves it.  It is already covered in Taylor Swift stickers.  Hahahaha.  This case has excellent reviews and it’s highly rated.

Rolling Suitcase

Jacob and Olivia needed new suitcases for an upcoming trip as they’d both outgrown their old character suitcases, so Brian purchased this carryon for Jacob.  This suitcase is 21 inches, so it fits in overhead bins, and it expands to add 25% more space if needed.  It has spinner wheels and a telescoping handle, and it’s highly rated with over 48,000 reviews.

Outlet Extender Surge Protector

Now that Olivia has a laptop and Jacob has a phone, we decided to set up a charging station in the kitchen for them.  Brian purchased this outlet extender so we can plug in all the things.  This one is 9-in-1 with five AC outlets and 4 USB ports, and it’s three-sided so you can use any size adaptor without worrying about them blocking each other.  This is another highly rated product, and we have been LOVING ours.  We currently use it for Jacob’s laptop, Olivia’s laptop, Jacob’s phone, Jacob’s earbuds, and a lamp, and I also use it occasionally to charge my phone and my earbuds.  This allows all of their items to charge in one spot, so they’re easy to find and round up in the morning before school.

OtterBox iPhone Case

After purchasing Jacob’s phone for his birthday, we let him choose the case, and he decided on this clear OtterBox case.  He likes that it’s clear so you can still see the phone, and he also likes that it’s sleek and not at all bulky, so it slides right in his pocket.  It has raised edges to protect the camera and screen, it was designed and tested to survive 3x as many drops as military standard, and it’s made from more than 50% recycled plastic.

Garden Stakes

Olivia grows sunflowers every year, and we’ve had problems in the past with storms coming through and knocking them down.  Brian purchased these garden stakes to protect them this year and they worked like a charm.  This set comes with 40 plant stakes, 15 cross connectors, 15 garden clips, and a few other accessories.  You can use the connectors to attach multiple stakes to reach any height needed, and then you use the garden clips to clip the stakes to the stems.  It took us all of five minutes to get all of her sunflowers staked and clipped and these saved her sunflowers through several strong storms this summer.

Garden Clips

He also purchased this set of garden clips to have extras since the original set only came with 15.

Portable USB CD Drive

Laptops no longer come with CD drives (for good reason), but we still burn the occasional CD for the kids + we have been ripping some old DVDs to back them up on our computers.  Brian bought this portable USB CD drive to use for these purposes, and it has been working like a charm.  It’s very inexpensive, too.

AA Batteries

We’ve been using Amazon Basics alkaline batteries for years because they work great and they are SUPER affordable.  Brian bought a refill for our stash, and this 20-pack is only $8.59.

Water Skipping Ball

Brian bought this ball for our beach trip, and it’s really awesome.  It’s made with a special material that allows it to skip across any body of water like a rock, so you can use it in pools, lakes, rivers, and the ocean.  It’s really soft, so it doesn’t hurt if you get hit with it during play and it floats so you can’t lose it.

Magnetic Door Catch

We have drawers under our bed, and we’ve had problems with them for years opening on their own.  Brian tried using Velcro to keep them closed, but they continued to open on their own.  He recently purchased these magnetic door catches to use instead, and we are now many weeks in without a single incident of one of the drawers opening on their own.  The magnets keep them closed, but the drawers are still easy to open manually when needed.

Lumineux Teeth Whitening Strips

Brian bought these for himself, and I’ll be jumping right on board with him as soon as I get these dumb braces off!!  These are supposed to be one of the best whitening strips on the market, but the best part is that they are peroxide free, so they won’t cause pain for people with sensitive teeth (it’s me, hi!).

Grampa’s Weeder

If this doesn’t scream “we’re getting old!” then I don’t know what does!  Hahahaha.  Brian does all of the yard work at our home, and he recently purchased this stand-up weed puller tool.  It allows you to pull weeds from a standing position, so you don’t have to get up and down a million times.  It has over 55,000 reviews and it’s highly rated at 4.5 / 5 stars.  Brian gives it two thumbs up!

No-Tie Shoelaces

Brian has officially joined Gen-Z in the quest to never tie a shoe.  Hahahaha.  He bought these no-tie shoelaces for his tennis shoes, and he loves them.  These turn any pair of lace-up tennis shoes into slip-on sneakers.  They are simple to install and one size fits all (kids and adults).  They come in 13 different colors to match any shoe, and they are guaranteed to last the life of one pair of lace-up tennis shoes.

Happy Monday, y’all!

    1. Aw you should! We just got ours in the mail, and it is SUCH great quality! It truly looks like a tiny little guitar. It's so cute! And SAME. I drink at least two cups of hot tea a day so I will desperately need them once I get my braces off.
