Happy Friday, y’all!  Oh, my WORD has it been a busy week.  I’m exhausted.  Thankfully, we don’t have quite as much on the agenda for next week, so I’m hoping to get caught up on some things.

But for now, a few favorites from the week…

O N E – Guitar Displayed in Our Living Room

Y’all, for my entire adult life, I have always wanted a guitar on display somewhere in our living area.  I think guitars add such a cozy, lived-in, artsy touch to a space, and since music is my FAVORITE thing, it’s just fitting.  However, I could never justify buying a guitar to use just for decoration, and since no one in our family played, it seemed pointless – almost wasteful – to purchase a guitar that would never be picked up and strummed.

Well, now that Olivia is officially taking lessons, she owns her very own guitar, and I happily picked up a stand from our local music store a couple of weeks ago to display it.  The display is awesome for two reasons – for one, the guitar looks gorgeous in our space, and I feel like it has completed the entire look of the room, and two, this makes the guitar more accessible to Olivia, which means she’s more inclined to pick it up and practice.  When it was hidden away in a bag she was playing it much less.

So it’s a win, win!

As I said, I purchased our stand locally, but this one is almost identical, and it has great reviews.  If you have a child in the house learning to play guitar, I highly recommend placing the guitar on a stand for them rather than storing it in its case.  Your child is pretty much guaranteed to practice more often when they see it often and all they have to do is pick it up.

And just look at this space now.  The coziest!  It just makes me so happy!

T W O – Favorite Leggings of All-Time Restock

These leggings from Target are incredible, and after trying them last year, they quickly replaced my beloved CRZ Yoga leggings for first place… they are officially the GOAT of leggings.  They are butter soft, they’re super flattering, and they’re so comfortable that you don’t even feel them.  While I do love the CRZ Yoga leggings, they eventually stretch out slightly over time/washings which causes them to ride down in the torso area, so I’m constantly having to pull them up.  These Target leggings do not do that.  I have washed mine dozens of times, and they are still as good as new.  No stretching here!

Target just restocked them in all sizes (XS-4X), and they also added a few new colors for fall and winter!  They are true-to-size… I wear a small.  Oh, and they also come in a flare version now, too!  And don't forget the matching sports bras... they have sewn-in cups!  #PraiseHands

T H R E E – My New Simplified Planner

I have mentioned the Simplified Planner on the blog tons of times, so it’s no secret how much I love it.  Simplified just dropped their new fall line along with all of their planners for 2025, so I went ahead and purchased my planner for the new year.  I went with Savannah Blooms and it is just stunning.  This is my seventh Simplified Planner, and I can’t wait to dig in and get it organized.  It’s one of my most favorite things, sitting down with my colored pens and getting my monthly calendars all set up for the year.

So many of you have purchased these gorgeous planners from my links over the years (thank you!) and you all seem to love them just as much as I do!  If you’re new around here, you can check out this post to see why I love them so much.  And you can see this post here to see how I organized my entire life by using it as one of my tools.  It’s my second most-viewed post of all-time!

F I V E – I Finished the Old Testament!

In July 2023, I decided I was going to read and study (using this study guide) the entire Bible in chronological order by the end of 2024.  Well, last week, I finished reading the entire Old Testament and I’m right on track to meet my goal!

While I’ve read all of the Bible at some point in my life, I’ve never attempted to read the whole thing in chronological order in a year(ish), and what a journey it’s been!

I’m so grateful to have learned SO MUCH and to have strengthened my relationship with God so much more.  Sitting down with my Bible and my highlighters and my pens (and my hot tea) has become one of my most treasured times of day, and it’s something that I plan to continue once my current study is done.

I started the New Testament last week – JESUS, FINALLY! – and I’m so excited to dig in and read all of these remaining books.

If you’ve never done a full Bible study like this, I highly encourage you to give it a try.  And don’t let the 365-day plans discourage you.  Reading the whole Bible in a year is not realistic for everyone, so give yourself grace… it’s better to read God’s Word in your own time than to not read it at all.  <3

  1. Both my boys use the discounted Prime account; you do have to have a college email account to qualify though (or at least you did this summer when we signed Alec up).

  4. When you said earlier you were starting the New Testament, I was wondering how you jumped ahead on the BR podcast. But now I get that you are going at your own pace through the study guide...good idea! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
