Happy Friday, y’all! I haven’t been doing much shopping the last few months, but there have been a few items that have popped up recently that we either need, or that I’ve seen that I’d like to purchase, so I thought I’d share those today!
O N E – New Martini or Coupe Glasses
We use martini glasses frequently during the holiday season as I love to mix up batches of my famous Winter White Cosmos, and unfortunately, we’re down to just one lone martini glass as the other three have broken this past year.
The set we had was inexpensive… I think it was from Walmart or Target, or maybe Amazon? So, it wasn’t a big loss. But now it’s time for something new, and I think this time I’m going to go with a better-quality glass. Almost all of our glassware (wine glasses, champagne flutes, cocktail glasses) is from Crate & Barrel as they are the GOAT of glassware. They have so many beautiful options, and while they’re pricier than Target, the quality is so much better, which means they’ll hopefully last longer.
I’ve been browsing for a few days, and I can’t decide if I want to go with a true martini glass like this one. This is the “Tour” set which would match our “Tour” wine glasses. They are break, chip, and scratch resistant, they hold 11 oz. (I definitely want something that holds more than 8 oz.!), and they can go in the dishwasher (praise)!
Or if I want to
go with a coupe glass like this “Mercer” set.
These hold 10 oz., and they are dishwasher safe.
I also love
this “Edge” set. WHAT a statement these
make!! They hold 12 oz., too, which is
the largest capacity of the three, and they are also dishwasher safe. The stems do look very delicate, though, so I’m
not sure if I should take the risk or not.
I’m SO torn,
y’all! Which ones would you
choose?! They are all stunning.
T W O – New Cutting
Boards
I recently read an article about the amount of bacteria that gets stored over time on your cutting boards, and it was eye opening. I’ve always known that you have to be really careful with anything you use with raw meat, but I had no idea that bacteria just stores up and lives on them even if you wash them super well.
No matter how thorough you are when you wash them (I always hand wash with dishwashing liquid and HOT water and then I run them through the dishwasher right after), the bacteria eventually settles in anyway. What?! Therefore, it’s recommended that you replace them every 1-5 years depending on the amount of use, and y’all, we have had our cutting boards since before we got married back in 2007. They are 17 years old. BARF.
That was enough to make me start hunting for some new ones. While I love the look of a wooden cutting board, those soak in and harbor bacteria way more than the plastic ones, so I’ve always used plastic ones for cutting meat, veggies, and fruits, and I save the wooden ones for charcuterie board displays.
I hunted around a little online, and I think I’ve settled on this 3-pack of plastic ones from Target. I love that there are three different sizes, so I can keep track of each one easily. That way, I can have one for meat, one for veggies, and one for fruit so I don’t have to worry about cross contamination.
They also have handles for easy transporting, they have anti-slip backings, and they have juice grooves to keep everything on the board and off of your countertops. They’re also dishwasher safe and right now they’re 50% off!

T H R E E – Walmart
Jeans
I’ve seen these jeans floating around blog land recently, and they look amazing. They’re super flattering with their fitted silhouette, and the flare leg is perfection. They are highly rated with 4.5/5 stars and they’re only $24!!!! As of now, they’re almost fully stocked, but I have a feeling they will sell out quickly. They come in this medium wash shade as well as a dark wash. I ordered the medium wash version yesterday and I’ll report back once I receive them. They remind me of my beloved Spanx jeans for a fraction of the cost, and I’ve been wanting some in a medium wash, so I’m hoping I like them.
F O U R – Silver Flats
I had a pair of silver shoes years ago and they were my favorite flats everrrr. They were so chic, and they literally went with everything. I literally wore them until the soles fell apart and I was so sad when I had to get rid of them. When I saw that Old Navy had a pair of true silver flats for fall and winter, I couldn’t snatch them up fast enough. And that black trim – PERFECTION, Y’ALL.
Ballet flats have always been a staple in my closet (I love my Rothy’s!!) and I’m so excited to see that they’re making a comeback this fall and winter… I never stopped wearing them anyway. Haha.
The best part?? That they have a STRAP. I love love love that ballet flats with straps are trending again because the strap makes them so much more comfortable. I have actually already ordered these, so I’ll report back once they arrive. They are highly rated, and everyone in the reviews raves about the comfort, which is fantastic.
Right now, these are 20% off, making them just $19.99. I actually lucked out and got mine while they had an additional 20% off of the already 20% off, making mine just $15.99!!!! I just hope they fit and are comfortable, etc.
And if you love the ballet flats trend, these mesh flats with rhinestones from Target are also stunning.
They have them in black, leopard, and several other colors, too.
Give me all the ballet flats!
F I V E – Prepared Hero
Emergency Fire Blanket
I actually saw this fire blanket in an Instagram ad, and it reeled me in completely! I usually ignore all of the ads on there, but I ended up watching the entire ad because I was so impressed and transfixed. Needless to say, I will be buying one of these for our house immediately.
This blanket is incredible – it extinguishes fires quickly and easily without the mess of a fire extinguisher. You literally just throw the blanket over the fire, and it puts the fire out immediately. It’s effective on grease fires, electrical fires, wood fires, gas fires, and vapors, so you could use it in the kitchen, in the back yard while grilling, or even in your vehicle.
The best part is that it never expires. You can literally use it on a fire and then fold it back up and place it back in the bag to use again. Amazing.
They are made from fiberglass and they’re waterproof, tear resistant, lightweight, flame resistant, abrasion resistant, low temperature resistant, and reuseable. And in addition to using it to put out fires, you can also use it as a thermal or heat shield should the need ever arise.
One of my biggest fears is a house fire, and I also worry that should we ever have a situation where something is on fire that I wouldn’t even know how to use a fire extinguisher. The aftermath of a fire extinguisher is also awful, too, as it makes a huge mess. With this blanket, you literally just toss it over the fire, and it extinguishes the flames immediately.
Where has this thing been all my life?!
One blanket is $29.99, and Amazon currently has a $5 coupon that you can clip, bringing the price to just $24.99. Or you can purchase them in packs of two, four, or eight and save even more money.
These have 4.8 / 5 stars with more than 16,000 reviews on Amazon and the reviews speak for themselves. And if you’re still not convinced, check out the video on this Amazon listing! It’s amazing how fast it puts out fires!
Literally everyone should have one of these on hand!
Friday Funnies
Our Week – The One with the Kaleo Concert, Halloween Fun, and Momma's Birthday
I've been seeing Walmart fashion everywhere but I feel scared to buy any! Will it hold up? My local walmart doesn't have the nice clothes but I was at another that did and I wasn't in the mood to try on either!
ReplyDeleteSo far, everything I've ever purchased from Walmart has held up nicely. The jeans will definitely hold up! The quality is really great! You wouldn't know they were from Walmart!
DeleteI like those jeans. I have seen the ad for thaet fire blanket, but haven't bought one yet. I may add that to my fall shopping list. I agree, I am not sure still that I would know how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'd never heard of it or seen one before... it makes putting fires out way too easy! Mine delivered today!
DeleteI actually have glass cutting boards for that reason! The bacteria thing just creeps me right out... however, the glass cutting boards are much harder on my knives. I'm going to have to check out that fire blanket; we have many extinguishers in the house but thankfully have only ever had a few very small problems with our outdoor grill and knowing it was a grease fire I just poured baking soda on it.
ReplyDeleteOh that is so smart. I should look into glass cutting boards! And yes, that fire blanket looks awesome. Mine delivered today. Hopefully we'll never have to use it, but it's nice to know we have it in case we ever do!
DeleteI love the glasses! that is a hard decision!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I think I'm going to go with the more traditional looking martini glasses. That's Brian's vote, too!
