This is Ten… Olivia’s Birthday Interview

My last little baby is going to be ten on Sunday, y’all.  TEN.  Two whole hands.  How, you ask?  I don’t know.  I blinked and she went from snuggling close in my arms to dancing around the house and singing to Taylor Swift.  She’s at the age right now where she’s independent, but still hanging on to the innocence of childhood and I wish I could just bottle her up and keep her like this forever. 

Per usual, I interviewed her last weekend to ask her the same questions that I ask her every year right before her birthday, and I know she’ll treasure being able to look back on these one day.  Here’s what she had to say this year, and as always, my commentary is in parentheses.  And before we go any further… warning… there’s a whole lot of Taylor Swift ahead!  ;o)

1.    What is your favorite toy?  “Um, everything that I have that’s Taylor Swift.”

2.    What is your favorite stuffed animal?  “Sheepie!  Of course.  That’s what I say every year.”

3.    What is your favorite game?  “Hmmmm… Sussed?, Pictureka, Apples to Apples – wait, we can play that tonight!”

4.    What is your favorite sport?  “Hmmmm… pro football.  Because of Taylor Swift and KC… Kansas City Chiefs!”

5.    What is your favorite book?  “Dunno… probably Diary of a Wimpy Kid.”

6.    What is your favorite TV show?  “Um, Grizzy and the Lemmings and Bluey.  Definitely Bluey.”  (Bluey for the second year in a row!)

7.    What is your favorite movie?  “Movie… Taylor Swift movie!  Or Barbie.  The real-life Barbie.”

8.    What is your favorite song?  “I cannot choose cuz all my favorite songs are Taylor Swift.”  Me: “Which ones are some of your favorites?”  Olivia: “I don’t know, I can’t choose!”  Me: “So you don’t even want to say a few?”  Olivia: “Noooo, I can’t choose!”

9.    What is your favorite band or singer?  “Taaaayyyylor Swift.  And for band, I don’t know if it’s really a band, but Barns Courtney.  Because I think it’s kind of like a band.”

10. What is your favorite holiday?  “Christmas, always and forever, Christmas.  Or ‘forever and always’ cuz that’s a Taylor Swift song.”  (She’s so clever.  Haha.)

11. What is your favorite season?  “Hmmmm… probably summer because we get school off.  Either that or winter.  Or maybe spring.  Because it’s cozy and it rains a lot, so…”

12. What is your favorite color?  “Purple, lavender, pink, and blue.”  (She’s in her Lover Era.)

13. What is your favorite animal?  “Koala.  Koalas, kangaroos, and giraffes, but I think koalas are my favorite.”  (That is news to me.)

14. What is your favorite shirt?  “My Taylor Swift shirt and the skirt and leggings.  Well, leggings if it’s cold, but… And probably my new birthday shirt that you gave me that says It’s Me, Hi, I’m the Birthday Girl, It’s Me.”

15. What is your favorite fruit?  “Um, my favorite fruit is probably pineapple.”

16. What is your favorite vegetable?  “Ehhhh, brussels sprouts, maybe?  No, wait my favorite fruit is okra!  Or if okra is a vegetable, then it would be my favorite vegetable.”  Jacob: “Okra is a fruit.”  Olivia: “Okay, then okra for a fruit.” 

17. What is your favorite snack?  “Probably the fruit snack part.  And also, I love the cheesy Cheez-its we get, or the extra extreme Goldfish.  Yeah, I usually like those.”  (She has fruit snacks most days with something else, so that's why she said, "the fruit snack part" for her response.)

18. What is your favorite treat?  “Hmmmm, I don’t know, but I like Sour Patch Kids and Sour Watermelons and, like, any gummy kind of thing.  And the Sour Patch part, I like the Sour Watermelons best because I think they’re better than the regular Sour Patch Kids.”  (For the last five years she’s always said gum.  This is the first year she hasn’t mentioned it.)  Me: “You didn’t say gum.”  Olivia: “GUM!!!!  I forgot about gum!!” 

19. What is your favorite drink?  “Water.  Hahahaha.”  (Literally the only thing she’s ever drunk her whole life since she stopped drinking formula and milk.  She won’t touch juice or sodas or milk or literally anything else.)

20. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner?  “Probably the Kraft mac n cheese.  Kraft mac n cheese!” 

21. What is your favorite restaurant?  “Hmmmm, I think still <says name of a local pub that’s down the street from our church and school that we frequent>.”  (They have a game room and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and apparently, that’s all she needs.)

22. Who is your best friend?  “Cami and Savannah and Aubrey and Maren.”

23. What makes you feel happy?  “When I have sleepovers or I see my friends.”  Jacob: “What about me?”  Olivia: “And Jacob.  When we play Smuggle.”  (Smuggle?!  I have no idea what they’re talking about.)  Jacob: “It’s not Smuggle.”  Olivia: “It’s Smother!  Smother is where we suffocate each other!”  Me: “WHAT?!”  (Don’t worry, I got clarification, and all is well.  Hahahaha.)

24. What makes you feel sad?  “Bleh.  Makes me feel sad is when… someone… hurts me?  Or if I die?  Hahahaha.  Or when I broke my arm?”  (She always struggles to come up with an answer for this because she’s literally never sad.)

25. What are you afraid of?  “Ghosts.”  (Literally the exact thing she said the last two years, so Jacob and I both laugh as he’s reading her previous answers over my shoulder.)  Olivia: “Why, what did I say last year?  Did I say ghosts last year?  What’s so funny?  Tell me!  Tell me now!  So, tell me noooowwww!” (in a sing-song voice like she’s singing Life Goes On by Ed Sheeran, but she’s changing the lyrics to “so tell me now” instead of “so tell me how.”  Haha.)

26. What are you thankful for?  “I’m thankful for Jacob, Mommy, Daddy, Maui, friends, the world, aaaand, um, vacation time.  And that we have enough clothes and money and yeah… what did I say last year on that one?”

27. What are you really good at?  “I’m good at dance and singing.  Period.”  (Apparently, she’s confident in her strengths.  Haha.)

28. What is your best memory?  “Um, I remember last year saying it was a time when I threw up, right?  Hahahaha.  But yeah, this year, my best memory is… going to New York.”  (For the record, she did not say throwing up for her best memory last year, but she may have said it as a joke in the past?  IDK.  But, ew, gross.  Haha.)

29. What do you want to be when you grow up?  “When I grow up, I want to be, um, a veterinarian or the designer for Taylor Swift.”

30. If you could have one wish, what would it be?  “Uh, to um, see Taylor Swift and get her autograph and the 22 hat and everything from her.”
