Hey, y’all! I’d typically have a goals post up today since it’s the first Friday of the month, but since our kiddos are heading back to school on Monday, I thought it would be a good day to post about some of our favorite back-to-school items!
O N E – Girls Glitter Shoes
First up, are these shoes! Most years, both kids get new shoes at the start of the school year, and these are the ones that Olivia picked out.
How. Cute. Are. These.
They are such a great dupe for the ever-popular Golden Goose sneakers that everyone has been wearing for the last few years!
Olivia typically picks out Nike tennis shoes to wear to school, but she is very rough on shoes, so I decided to try to find something less expensive for her this year. Target never disappoints, and she literally squealed when she saw these!
They’re actually very sturdy and well-made, so I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll hold up well. They do run big, and we had to size down a full size for Olivia. Just keep that in mind if you end up purchasing them. We actually purchased two sizes to try and then we returned the ones that didn’t work.
When I bought ours, shoes were 30% off, so we got them for a steal! They’re no longer 30% off, but they’re actually buy one get one 50% off, which is still good!

Uniform Shorts
Target accidentally shipped these to us last year, and I was so glad they did because we had no idea they existed. These are uniform shorts that look like regular dress cotton uniform shorts, but they feel like athletic shorts!!!! Jacob would wear athletic shorts every single day if we’d let him, but his school requires uniforms, and he hates cotton chino shorts more than anything.
These athletic uniform shorts are ah-mazing. They have every single feature that a cotton uniform chino short has – button and zipper closure (that’s actually a snap and zipper for easier access), real front pockets, real back pockets, and belt loops. The fabric looks like regular cotton fabric, but it’s actually a quick-dry fabric that stays nice and cool! These also include adjustable waistbands (which is necessary for Jacob), and they wash and dry like a dream… when you pull these out of the dryer, they come out completely wrinkle-free unlike traditional cotton shorts that always need to be ironed. These are such a dream, y’all.
They are currently on sale for just $12, and they come in khaki, navy, black, and grey. Last summer, these sold out super-fast (I tried to order more after Target shipped them accidentally and they were already gone), and they were not restocked, so if you want these, do not hesitate! I have been stalking them all summer, and I purchased ours the day that they popped up on the Target website.

Backpacks Ever
Pottery Barn Kids backpacks and lunchboxes for life, y’all!!!! These are the absolute best backpacks and lunchboxes of all-time. They come in tons of colors and patterns, and they come in lots of different sizes, so there’s something for every single kid. The best part is that you can just throw them in the washer when they get dirty (then air-dry), and they come out looking brand new every single time.
These hold up so well that our kids have used theirs for years. Years, y’all. Jacob and Olivia have each only had two in their entire school careers, and the only reason they changed to a second one is because they eventually graduated to a larger size. Both of their original backpacks that they started Pre-K4 with were used for years and they still look brand new to this day… and they are eight and five years old… and they’ve been washed in the washing machine more times than I can count. Bottom line, these are the sturdiest backpacks, and they are worth the money.
F O U R – Yeti Thermos
We bought these Yeti thermoses a couple of years ago for the kids to take to school every day, and they have held up beautifully as well. Both kids’ thermoses have been used through two schoolyears, and they are about to use them for a third schoolyear because they’re still in excellent condition.
These keep drinks cold for hours upon hours, and they’re sweatproof, leakproof, and dishwasher safe. They are also shatterproof, and we do know that from personal experience… because Olivia drops hers constantly. Constantly, y’all. And the thing still looks brand new. It doesn’t get any better than that!
F I V E – Bento
Lunchboxes
This year, our kids don’t have to take lunches at all for the first time ever, and I cannot tell you how happy that makes me. No more lunch-making for me, y’all! Yessss.
However, I did want to share these bento lunchboxes because they are awesome. They are large so they are perfect for older kids and adults. There are two large compartments, and three small compartments, and the small compartments can be customized by using the inserts that come with each one. One of the inserts has a screw-top leak-proof lid, so it’s perfect for holding sauces, salad dressing, or yogurt. These are also dishwasher safe, which is a must.

ReplyDeleteI am not looking forward to school lunches. And I think my boys need shorts and I don't know what sizes they should get!
ReplyDeleteThose glitter shoes are so cute!
ReplyDeleteAren't they? I wish they came in my size!
DeleteI have to admit that I do not miss the school lunches AT ALL. When I packed Jack's last lunch last spring, I realized I had been packing lunches since 2006! Hope you have a good weekend!
