We interrupt my usual Five on Friday post for a birthday interview because my Boo is going to be twelve on Sunday, y’all!! As I do every year, I interviewed him this past week and I asked him the same 30 questions I’ve been asking him each year on his birthday since he was four. As always, my commentary is in parentheses. Here’s the interview from July 20, 2023.
Also, we had a good laugh over his picture below... he struggles to open his eyes outside in the natural light without sunglasses, so he always looks like he's in pain. Haha.

What
is your favorite stuffed animal? “Mmmm,
Sheldon.” Me: “Who is Sheldon?” Jacob: “He’s a red squid that I got from
Stars and Strikes.”
3.
What
is your favorite game? “Video games or
board games?” Me: “Either one.” Jacob: “Tears
of the Kingdom.” (That’s the new Zelda
game that he and Olivia are obsessed with.)
4.
What
is your favorite sport? “Ummmm… football. Well football is my favorite for watching,
and golf is my favorite for playing.”
5.
What
is your favorite book? “Mmmm,
Picturepedia.” (This is one that he’s
checked out from the library several times, and this is a new favorite. Most years, he has said 5,000 Awesome Facts.)
6.
What
is your favorite TV show? “Does YouTube
count?” Me: “No.” Jacob: “Pokemon Journeys.”
7.
What
is your favorite movie? “Avatar.” (Said without hesitation.)
8.
What
is your favorite song? “I don’t know…
maybe… Everglow?” (His old piano teacher
taught him how to play this on the piano and he does love it. He requests it often in the car.)
9.
What
is your favorite band or singer? “Coldplay…
or Jon Bellion.”
10. What is your favorite holiday? “Christmas.”
11. What is your favorite season? “Fall.” (Same as last year!)
12. What is your favorite color? “Green or blue… they’re tied.” (Same as the last couple of years.)
13. What is your favorite animal? “Hmmmm… I don’t know.” Me: “You just want to leave it at that?” Jacob: “Yeah.”
14. What is your favorite shirt? “Um, my, like, dark teal one that I got from
Nana and Poppie.”
15. What is your favorite fruit? “Watermelon.”
16. What is your favorite vegetable? “None.”
Me: <laughs> “I knew you were gonna say that.” (This is the first year that he’s been a
smart you-know-what and said that rather than just saying one of the veggies
that he tolerates. Haha.)
17. What is your favorite snack? “Motts fruit snacks.”
18. What is your favorite treat? “Sour Patch Kids.”
19. What is your favorite drink? “Mmmm… apple juice or lemonade.”
20. What is your favorite thing to eat for
dinner? “Um, Mexican or <says local favorite
pub that we go to after church often.” (I
left off the name of the restaurant for privacy reasons. Also, this was more of a general food
question rather than a specific restaurant question, but that’s okay.)
21. What is your favorite restaurant? “<says name of the local pub right down
the street from our church>” (Again, I’m leaving out the name of the restaurant
for privacy reasons, but he has said this restaurant for the last couple of
years. He loves their burgers, and he
and Olivia also love that they have a game room.)
22. Who is your best friend? “Jack, Julian, and WJ.” (He’s had Jack and Julian for several years
running now, and last school year he made friends with one of the new students. Makes me happy that he has his little group!)
23. What makes you feel happy? “Um… Pokemon and video games.”
24. What makes you feel sad? “Mmmm… when I get hurt.”
25. What are you afraid of? “Mmmm… being eaten alive.” Me: “What?!”
Jacob: “Being eaten alive.” Me: “By
what??” Jacob: “Something that wants to eat
me alive.” (The middle schooler sarcasm
has been coming in hot lately.
Hahahaha.)
26. What are you thankful for? “Um… my family and my house and my toys and
my friends.”
27. What are you really good at? “Um… piano and Tears of the Kingdom.” (I’m so
glad that he said piano first! He does
truly have the gift, and I hope it’s something he sticks with forever.)
28. What is your best memory? “The first time we went to Disney World.” (He has said this five years in a row now! I think technically last year he said our
second trip to Disney World, but it’s been Disney World for the last five years
running.)
29. What do you want to be when you grow
up? “YouTuber… a Tears of the Kingdom
YouTuber.” (Second year running for a
YouTuber.)
30. If you could have one wish, what would
it be? “Um… to have more wishes.”

ReplyDeleteSuch a fun interview and while those sarcasm/wise cracks drove my husband up the wall I loved that they often made me laugh out loud. I am a very sarcastic person so I totally get that side! I hope he has the best birthday.
