Hey, y’all! We’re wrapping up the second to last full week of school and it’s definitely bittersweet. We are all so very excited for summer and all of the fun and downtime it will bring, but I’m also a little sad as I always am at the end of a school year because it means my babies are growing up and moving on to another grade. Every year I blink, and another school year is over, and I know soon enough I’ll be blinking, and my babies will be graduating from high school. I’m just not ready!!!!
Ok, well, I didn’t mean to bring down the Friday mood, so let’s change the subject. It’s time for some favorites from the week!! I have some good ones!
O N E – Silver Cowboy Boots
I bought these silver boots to wear to the Taylor Swift concert and I am obsessed. They are the cutest boots, they’ll go with anything, and they are soooo comfortable. I was reeeeally worried about wearing these because I wasn’t sure how my feet would feel in them, especially since I knew we would be walking and standing most of the day. But y’all, I wore them for 12 hours the day of the concert, and I was standing for probably 10 of those hours, and they didn’t mess up my feet!
We had to walk for nearly a mile to get to the venue from our parking spot, then we stood for hours waiting to get in, we stood during the entire concert, and then we walked another mile back to the car afterward, and my feet didn’t feel terrible at the end of the night. I mean, sure, they hurt a bit from standing so long, but they didn’t hurt any more than they would have if I’d been wearing any other shoes. I was absolutely shocked at how well my feet held up in them. I also noticed that my feet didn’t hurt at all the next day either. A lot of the time, if I wear a pair of uncomfortable heels, I’ll wake up with super sore feet the next morning, but that didn’t happen at all with these boots.
I typically wear a 7.5 in shoes and I always size up to an 8 in boots, so I grabbed these in an 8. They fit perfectly so I would say that they’re true-to-size. I cannot recommend these enough if you’re looking for some fun boots. And they come in different colors, too!
T W O – Sally Hansen
Insta-Dri Nail Polish
My all-time favorite nail polish is the Insta-Dri polish by Sally Hansen, and my very favorite shade is #113, White on Time. This polish goes on thick and smooth, and it dries crazy fast. I can swipe on two coats right before I walk out the door, and it dries so fast that I don’t have to worry about messing it up. The polish usually lasts around 4-5 days without chipping, too, so it holds up well.
This shade is my favorite, especially during spring and summer, so if you’re looking for a perfect shade that goes with everything, grab this one! It’s super affordable, too, at just $5.29 per bottle.
T H R E E – Teacher
Appreciation Gift
Teacher Appreciation Week was last week at our school, and I bought a set of these bracelets for each of Olivia’s teachers to include in our gift from the class. These bracelets are so sweet! They’re made of wooden beads, so they’re neutral and would go with anything, and they’re accented with gold beads and a little apple. They have all of the letters of the alphabet, and they have options for “Mrs.” and “Miss” so you can fully customize them for your teacher. I know Teacher Appreciation Week is almost over, but I thought I would still share in case you’re looking for an end-of-the-year teacher gift.
F O U R – The Girl He
Used to Know
I just finished The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves, and I loved it!
From Amazon:
Annika Rose is an English major at the University of Illinois. Anxious in social situations where she finds most people's behavior confusing, she'd rather be surrounded by the order and discipline of books or the quiet solitude of playing chess.
Jonathan Hoffman joined the chess club and lost
his first game―and his heart―to the shy and awkward, yet brilliant and
beautiful Annika. He admires her ability to be true to herself, quirks and all,
and accepts the challenges involved in pursuing a relationship with her.
Jonathan and Annika bring out the best in each other, finding the confidence
and courage within themselves to plan a future together. What follows is a
tumultuous yet tender love affair that withstands everything except the
unforeseen tragedy that forces them apart, shattering their connection and
leaving them to navigate their lives alone.
Now, a decade later, fate reunites Annika and
Jonathan in Chicago. She's living the life she wanted as a librarian. He's a
Wall Street whiz, recovering from a divorce and seeking a fresh start. The
attraction and strong feelings they once shared are instantly rekindled, but
until they confront the fears and anxieties that drove them apart, their second
chance will end before it truly begins.
Y’all, this book was excellent, and it’s one that I’ll remember for a long time. It was a beautiful story about true love, and the last few chapters left me breathless. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a little heavier than your typical beach read, but I highly recommend it if you want a book that you won’t want to put down.
F I V E – Winning the
War in Your Mind
One of my friends who struggles with anxiety has been raving about this book, so I decided to grab a copy of it, too. I have been managing my anxiety very well in recent months, but I do always love any reading material to help further my journey since I know it’s likely going to be a lifelong battle. The book has 4.8 / 5 stars on Amazon and the reviews are just amazing.
