Another year as come and gone already. Wow.
I have to say, this one really snuck up on me! Usually, by now I have several goals jotted down somewhere for the new year, but honestly, I haven’t given much thought to them at all because we’ve been so busy, and I’ve been focused on what’s going on right in front of me.
With all that said, I have chosen my word for the year, and that word is going to be…
CONFIDENCE
That’s not a word that I ever thought I’d choose, but after having a pretty great 2022 and finding new confidence in myself (in more ways than one), I thought it would be a great direction to take in 2023 to encourage myself to continue nurturing it.
I’ve always been a very cautious person – I worry constantly about how my actions affect others, I care too much about what other people think (although, I’ve gotten much better at this the last couple of years!), I overanalyze the heck out of every little thing before I take a single step towards making any decision, and then I second guess myself for days and even weeks after some decisions have been made.
While I’m sure some of these traits can be beneficial to some extent, they are also unhealthy habits much of the time, and I’m hoping to continue finding more confidence in all of my roles, especially when it comes to making big decisions, connecting with other people, and sharing our lives here on the internet.
I feel like this will sort-of be a continuation of my journey to EMBRACE everything last year… gotta continue to embrace all of these good things I have going right now!
With all that said, let’s break down some of my other 2023 goals by category. Many of these are the same or similar to last year’s goals, but I’ve added a few new ones, too.
Relationships
Go on one date per month with B.
Get together with girlfriends at least once a month.
Spend more time with all loved ones in general.
Put myself out there more to connect with other people who I don’t know
well.
Personal/Health/Wellness/Fitness/Beauty
Meditate, quiet time, affirmations every day.
Write some of my own affirmations… personalize them for myself.
Try not to ruminate on the past so much and try to be at peace with decisions
I make.
Continue seeing my therapist.
Drink 64 oz. of water every day.
Work out at least 3-4 times per week most weeks.
Incorporate new workouts into my routine.
Incorporate more stretching workouts into my routine.
Continue maintaining a healthy diet that’s low in sugar and processed
foods.
Serve/volunteer even more.
Embrace my new role at the kids’ school as an Alumni Affairs contributor.
Find a clean-er body lotion and make the switch.
Create a signature scent from oils to use as perfume.
Get braces. Ugh. (I’m going to need all the confidence to rock
those at 40! Haha.)
Read at least 12 books (including some of the personal development books
I have).
Donate blood at least three times.
Family/Fun
Give the kids more responsibilities around the house.
Teach the kids some more new life skills.
Continue to encourage the kids to try new things, be spontaneous, and
shake things up.
Continue to stress the importance of good hygiene with the kids.
Read through The Body Book with Olivia and prepare her for things to
come.
Spend more time with friends than ever and do lots of fun stuff.
Spend more one-on-one time with each kid.
Use the One Second Everyday app to record our entire year.
Home
Clean out the whole house.
Update the laundry room.
Sell all old stuff.
Be intentional with the things I buy to keep clutter light.
Cut down my Master To-Do List by 10%.
As of January 1, 2023, my Master To-Do List is 156 lines long, so I need
to do at least 15-16 items to accomplish this goal in 2023.
Blog
Utilize LTK and post more fashion content.
Revamp monthly
What I Wore posts.
Get in front
of the camera more (confidence!).
Create at
least one Instagram Reel per month.
Create more
recipes and holiday content.
Start tracking
steps in my monthly goals blog posts.
And those are
my goals for 2023!

ReplyDeleteI love your word! Great goals!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing goals, and YAY for confidence! Definitely something I need to work on <3
ReplyDeleteYou have some awesome goals listed here, Lindsay, and I love your word for the year! I can relate in being a fellow worrier and while I'm getting better at it, I still always think about what others are going to think when I do something. But I try to remind myself that no matter what, I can't control what other people think, I just have to let it be. That's tough though, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week so far! :)
Make Life Marvelous
Yes! That is great advice! I started thinking the same thing recently and that has really helped me stop caring what others think. What other people think just really isn't our business anyway I suppose. And you can't be everyone's cup of tea either... there will always be people who love you and people who hate you no matter how hard you try to please them. Thanks for the kind words, Ashley! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteWhat a great word! I love it, and think you will be able to rock it. :) I'll have to look into The Body Book for Annabelle. Teaching life skills is such a great idea. I've been wanting to have the kids help more in the kitchen for meal times.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great word, Lindsay! You've always rocked it and I have no doubt that you're going to continue to kill it! I don't officially have a word, but the word, "Thunder,' came to mind for me. I want to be a little louder and bolder and stronger in all aspects of my life...to not care what people think and to carry on... Anyhoo, you're amazing and I've always, always looked up to you and I can't wait to see what you do in 2023!
