We finally finished the kids’ bathroom refresh at the end of March and I’m so excited to share it with you today! It’s been a long-time coming!
As I’ve said before, prior to the refresh, the kids were using all of the bathroom décor, towels, and rugs from my old bathroom when I lived with one of my friends right after college. So yes, all of the stuff they’ve been using is from 2006, so it was, ohhhh, 16 years old?
After I moved in with B, I boxed all of that old stuff up because we’d received new bathroom linens and décor as wedding gifts, and then when we built our new house in 2009, I pulled it all out to use in the guest bathroom… what eventually turned into the kids’ bathroom.
To say this refresh was long overdue is an understatement.
Here’s what the bathroom looked like before the refresh (and you can also see the original home tour post here)…
Here are the things we purchased/did to make the transformation:
Added a shower organizer
New bath towels
(they have built-in loops for hanging!!)
New hand towels
(they have built-in loops, too!)
Added this cute sign to the shelf over the toilet
Removed the old
towel bar
Installed new
trim and towel hooks
Added a hand towel hook over Jacob’s sink
The towel hooks and the towel loops are a complete gamechanger, y’all. Prior to this, Olivia never ever hung her towel… it was always crumpled up on the floor somewhere because she didn’t want to take the effort to try to fold and hang it. And when she did, it looked awful. Haha.
Ever since we installed the new hooks, she hasn’t left her towel on the floor once because it’s so easy for her to hang it, and both towels always look uniform because of the built-in hanging loops. So SO good, y’all.
I’m completely head over heels for this room now!
There are still a couple of things I’d love to do down the road, but they’re much larger projects that will honestly probably not get done for years. For one, I’d love to remove the builder-grade mirror and install two smaller mirrors, and I’d also love to get new light fixtures as ours are all outdated now. I also wouldn’t mind changing the color of the cabinets in some way eventually, but for now, I’m loving them just the way they are.
Happy Monday, y’all!
This is perfect! The hooks are a game-changer! I love how pretty it is and also how you incorporated cute blue that includes Jacob’s style! Seriously, great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, the hooks really are a gamechanger!! The kids can both easily hang their towels now and we are finding Olivia's towel balled up on her floor less and less now. Haha.
DeleteLove the hook idea. Simon has a hard time hanging up his towel!
ReplyDeleteLove how clean and fresh it is!! Definitely works for them as they grow up even more!
ReplyDeleteLove the refresh! My kids shared a bathroom together until Ian started high school and Ella started middle school because it was impossible for a boy and girl to get ready for school together in one bathroom with one sink! UGH!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job. I love how clean it is and how it works for both of them/
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne!
DeleteIt looks great! Blue and white is my favorite colors! I love the shower curtain and that floor mat that is blue with the white polka dots!
