I just can't jump on the mom-jean trend… seriously, y’all, just say no to the super-high waist, the weird back pockets that give you an unflattering butt, and the elastic in weird places. Haha. While I won’t ever be buying any of those, I am so here for the early-2000’s boot cut jean trend coming back. Yes yes yes! I won’t be abandoning my beloved skinny jeans anytime soon, but I will definitely be taking part in the bootcut trend.
I’ve never been a big fan of jeans shopping because I’m soooo picky, and therefore, I rarely go jeans shopping which means I wear mine for a decade until they basically fall apart. I’m long overdue for some now, so I’ve been on the hunt for new ones, and I had some good luck this time around, so I thought I’d share them with you today. I ended up finding jeans from American Eagle, GAP, and Nordstrom that looked great, and I ordered several pairs in different sizes to try (free shipping and free returns, so why not?) and then I just sent back all the ones that didn’t work.
O N E – American Eagle Distressed Bootcut
These American Eagle jeans ended up being ah-mazing and I love them so much. They fit like a glove, the back pockets are the perfect size, and therefore, don’t make your butt look weird, and they’re comfy. They’re high-rise, but not in a mom-jeans sort of way, and they have just the right amount of stretch. I love the wash on these and I love how these are distressed… they’re just perfect all-around.
I’ll be wearing the distressed ones for casual looks, which means I’ll be wearing them with flats, so I ordered mine in petite sizing to get the shorter length. I’m 5’5” and 124 pounds, and the 4 Petite fit me like they were made for me… the petite length is perfect for flats.
These jeans from Nordstrom – where do I even begin? Oh my goodness, they are so luxurious!! The fit is perfect, the waist is mid-rise so they’re not too low and not too high, and they’re soooo soft and comfy with just the right amount of stretch. The waistband is lined with a super soft elastic fabric that feels great on your skin – no scratchiness or tightness when you sit down or move around a lot. The back pockets are just right, and these are just so sleek and chic. Again, the 4 Petite fit perfectly – they don’t drag the ground when I wear flats, but they are also long enough to wear with heels. I can’t stress how much I love these jeans.
T H R E E – Wit &
Wisdom Skinny Jeans
For those of you who do not love the bootcut trend, Wit & Wisdom does have plenty of skinny jeans options, and the wash on these is perfection. If they’re made as well as the bootcut version, then these will be perfect as well.
F O U R – GAP High-Rise
Flare Jeans
I love this option from GAP because the front pockets are so unique and cute. Unfortunately, they didn’t arrive in time for me to try them on and give them a proper review, but I wanted to include them since I did purchase a pair. I’ll have to report back once I receive them.
F I V E – Jeans for the
Littles
Olivia hates jeans. HATES JEANS. I haven’t been able to get her to wear them since she was about two years old. Once she stopped wearing them, we moved her to the jean leggings – the soft jeggings kind – from Target, and she wore those for a couple of years until… she decided that she hates all leggings and all pants now. Sigh.
She has to have jeans for spirit days at school, and she obviously has to have some kind of pants that she can wear during the winter when it’s cold, so I found these jeans on Amazon. They’re looser fitting so they’re way less constricting, and they flare at the bottom which makes them so cute! They have an elastic waistband with no buttons or zippers, so it makes it easier for her to get them on and off, and it also makes them much more comfortable in the waistband.
While she still doesn’t love wearing pants (she claims that she can’t bend her legs while she’s wearing them – EYE ROLL), she does think these are comfortable enough to wear if she has to wear pants, and she LOVES the way she looks in them which also makes her want to wear them more. They are seriously darling, y’all.
And those are all of the jeans choices.
Once I receive my jeans from GAP I’ll have some decisions to make and a
whole lot of returning to do since I bought each pair in multiple sizes!

I can only wear certain jeans from Old Navy...which they obviously don't make anymore since they are lower rise and only high rise is in. I cannot wear high rise! I do like boot cut jeans though, so I may check some of these out.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness are jeans ever hard to find! But you have found some great pairs my friend! I have tried all those brands and I love them. I think I’m going to get the ones from American Eagle and I want the pair from the gap but they’re out of my size in regular length. I’m tall but I just know the long will be too long. Had the sweetest weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, jeans are soooo difficult for me. I finally just went into Walmart the other day and bought skinny/leggings "jeans" because nothing seems to fit my body anymore. I tried the high rise/Mom jean and I found a picture of me wearing them and I was mortified. Seriously, my sister-in-law posted it on Facebook and I couldn't even like the picture because it was so upsetting to me and I don't normally feel that way about most things. UGH! Also, that forgetting the name meme made me laugh out loud! Soooo true for me. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the jeans review. I do wear a skinny Jean still and want to try the Wit ones. I wonder if they come in long.
ReplyDeleteI love all those jeans on you! I too an pretty excited for boot cut jeans to make a comeback.... I only wish I had kept some of my older pairs. My youngest two boys wont wear jeans of any kind either!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, I wish I'd kept mine, too. I had a pair from GAP that were gorgeous and I held onto them for so long, but I finally let them go a couple of years ago and now I'm regretting it.
DeleteThose funnies are just spot on, haha! So glad you loved the Wit & Wisdom jeans - I LOVE the itty bitty bootcut, and they also come in a darker color that is perfect with heels for when you want to be a little dressy! I bet Olivia looks PRECIOUS in those jeans. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteThe first pair of American Eagle jeans are giving me high school flash backs! I cannot believe they are back in style again!
