Five on Friday - Disney Trip, Hocus Pocus 2, and a New Method to Help with Anxiety

It’s Friday and it’s time for some faves!  As I’m typing this, we’re leaving for the beach in less than 16 hours and I’m suuuuper behind on everything, so this is going to be a very short post (by Lindsay standards), but also a very sweet one!

O N E – Our Disney Trip Has Been Booked!

We booked our Disney trip back in May, and our magic bands already arrived last week!!!!  We aren’t going until October, but apparently, Disney has started mailing the bands earlier than they used to.  Many of you may remember that we were scheduled to go in March 2020 and our trip got canceled the week before we were supposed to leave because of Covid.  We rescheduled it for June 2020, hoping that things would be looking up by then (I was v skeptical), and then, of course, it had to be canceled again.  We are THRILLED to be going in October, and I’m praying that this time it works out!

T W O – Hocus Pocus 2

Did y’all see this announcement a couple of weeks ago?!?!  EEEEK!  We cannot WAIT!  And that’s it.  That’s the post.

T H R E E – New Old Pictures

A distant relative of my mom’s has been doing lots of ancestry research on her extended family.  He sent these two pictures to her last week of my great-grandfather (my late Big Daddy’s father) serving in World War I.  How awesome is that?!  I will definitely be framing and displaying one of them.

F O U R – DARE Method

As mentioned a couple of times, I read the book DARE – The New Way to End Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks by Barry McDonagh last month, and it was a great read.  The method that’s taught in this book is SO completely different than any other method, and it sounds positively crazy, but y’all, it’s working for me!!

Prior to Olivia’s accident, my anxiety had been well-controlled for the most part (especially the panic attacks), but since her accident, anxiety (and panic) has started creeping up at completely random times again.  I have used this method twice now (once while I was driving – SO scary when the panic creeps up then), and y’all, as crazy as it sounds, it works.  I snapped this picture from the book with this very brief overview and saved it in my favorites on my phone, so now whenever I start to feel panic rise, I can pull up the picture as a reminder for how to handle things.  Obviously when I was driving, I didn’t pull up the picture, but the method is pretty simple to remember on your own.

If you suffer from anxiety (especially panic attacks), I highly recommend giving this a read.  I’m hoping things will continue to improve as I continue to treat anxiety this way.

F I V E – Good News on the Pandemic Front

I get daily briefings in my inbox from the New York Times and I literally teared up reading these words in my email the other day:

“The pandemic is in retreat.  In the United States, there is now an excellent chance that the retreat is permanent.”

Y’all.

So. many. happy. tears.

I just pray that they’re right.

Friday Funnies

Pretty much

How do they make such a mess?!

  4. So excited for your Disney trip! The WWI pictures are incredible...so rare to see something that old of your own family. Such good news about Covid- when we traveled last week, everything seemed almost normal. Hope you have a good weekend!

  5. I think I'm the only one not happy about Hocus Pocus 2 lol Some things are sacred and should just be left alone and in my opinion, Hocus Pocus is one of those things. Fingers crossed that Disney works out for you in October!! Maybe by then mask mandates will have lifted, too!

  8. I love the colors of the mew Disney bands. I can’t wait for Hocus Pocus. We love the first one and I’m all for the second one. I have had bad anxiety since going back into the office. I need to use some of those methods.
