He Had a Dream

Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that “[his] four little children [would] one day live in a nation where they [would] not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

While we’ve made significant progress towards making his dream a reality, nearly six decades after he delivered that speech, we’re still not fully there yet.

What a shame.

This past year was eye-opening for me, to say the least.  Social injustice is still very present in our country, and I have spent a lot of time delving into it, learning what it means to have white privilege, and discussing very difficult topics with our kids to ensure that they're aware of it, too.

I started to pay much more attention to black-owned businesses this past year, and on this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I wanted to share a handful of my very favorite ladies of color on Instagram.

Tabitha Brown @iamtabithabrown (Recipes& Motivation)

Danielle Coke @ohhappydani (Art & Words)

Kay @onceupona1912 (Home Design & DIY)

Luna @swaggaismything (Fashion)

All of these ladies inspire me daily, and I hope you’ll find them as inspiring as I do.

Happy Monday, y’all.  <3
