Christmas Home Tour 2020

It’s Christmas home tour day!!  Woo hoooo!  Décor is looking pretty similar this year to last year’s décor, but as always, I added a couple of little things here and there.  You ready for the tour?  Come on in!  And I just want to go ahead and apologize for the lighting... I wasn't able to photograph most of the house on a sunny day, so the picture quality for most of these is pretty terrible.

Here’s the outside of the house… not much changed from last year.  And I’m still LOVING this wreath!  It was originally $89.99, and I got it on sale for just under $20 on Black Friday at Kohls.com.  What.  A.  Steal.

Ready to come on inside?

The formal dining room is on the right with the same decorations as the last few years…

And into the living room!!  I loved our mantle so much last year that I duplicated it for this year’s décor, but I added a couple more bottle brush trees, this time in a light pink glitter to add a little bit of extra whimsy.  I’m LOVING those pops of pink with that floral artwork over the mantle this year.  This view never ever gets old.

Moving on into the kitchen… when brainstorming which sentiment to put on the chalkboard for this season, the very first thing that came to mind was “Peace on Earth.”  Between the pandemic and the election, I can’t think of a year that we’ve ever needed this more.

Moving on upstairs to the master bedroom… this year, I replaced our ten-year old artificial tree with one of the Michaels’ pencil trees that I love so much.  It fits so much better in this space than that larger one did!  As always, it houses all of the extra wedding favors from our wedding in December 2007.  I ordered tons to make sure we had plenty, and we ended up having enough leftover to decorate an entire tree.

And here's our bedroom at night...

I also grabbed Michael’s pencil trees for Jacob’s bedroom, as well as Olivia’s, so they now both have full-size trees in their rooms.  Last year, we started putting all of their handmade ornaments on their trees in their rooms, but those small tabletop trees just weren’t big enough to hold their collections.  The pencil trees are perfect for the small space, while still having ample room for all of their decorations since they’re so tall.

Jacob’s tree is still red, white, and blue to match his room, and all of his adorable handmade ornaments from throughout the years are on there.  They are my absolute favorites.

Olivia’s tree is light pink, gold, and white to match her bedroom décor, and her tree has all of her handmade ornaments on it, too.  So many precious little treasures.

And… of course, I did my rainbow tree in my office again this year!!  This year, instead of stringing the white garlands vertically, I strung them horizontally in between each of the colors, and I like it so much better this way!

After having the rainbow pumpkins in my office for fall, I decided I wanted to put something rainbow-y on my desk for Christmas, too, and Hobby Lobby made it too easy as they had bottle brush trees in nearly every color.  There was no orange, which was no loss to me as it’s my least favorite color, and there was also no purple, which was a bummer.  Spray paint to the rescue, though!!  I simply bought a blue tree and spray painted it purple.  Easy peasy, and it looks perfect.

Now we’ll just be over here soaking up every second with all of the beautiful twinkle lights!

    1. Thank you! Yes, trees in the kids' rooms are just the best. Olivia uses her tree lights as a night light while she's falling asleep.
