Our Week - The One with Quarantine, Week 29 (Baseball and Family Visit)

Hello everybody!  Happy Wednesday!  Today the kids get out early for fall break and we’re heading straight to the mountains!  You can follow along with our adventures in my Instagram stories @lindsayssweetworld.

Now to recap last week!

Monday, September 28 (Day 199 of Quarantine)

Monday was another dreary day, so I skipped my workout and spent the entire day in my office working, working, working and watching Father of the Bride.  I’m nearly two weeks ahead on my blog posts as I type this, and that always feels great!  It won’t last long, though, since I won’t be doing any work during our mountain trip… I’ll be getting back home to doing posts in real-time until I can get ahead again.  I guess I need to enjoy it now while it lasts!

Olivia had some big news when she got home from school… she had lost her second tooth!  Sunday evening, it was really loose – probably loose enough to pull – but she wouldn’t let Brian pull it, so we let it be.  In case you’re wondering why I only mentioned Brian in that sentence, it’s because I don’t pull teeth… it grosses me out even thinking about it.  Lol.  As a matter of fact, neither Brian nor I have pulled any of either of our kids’ teeth so far!  Haha.

Since Olivia wouldn’t let B pull it, I told her to go see one of the teachers at the school who is known for pulling all of the kids’ teeth.  I texted Katie (the teacher) to let her know that Olivia might be coming to see her, and she said that she would stop by Olivia’s classroom and get the job done.  :o)

Sure enough, when I pulled up in the car line, Katie gave me the thumbs up and told me she had just pulled it.  She said Olivia was so brave and was super excited.  Sure enough, when she hopped in the car, she was just bursting with the news.  :o)

Monday evening, Jacob had a baseball game and they finally got another win, 16-15!  He played a great game, getting three singles, two RBIs, two runs, and he threw two people out at first.  I just love watching him play!

We grabbed CFA for dinner on the way home, and I was even able to squeeze in a quick, but intense cardio workout while the kids were showering and getting ready for bed.  A successful day it was!

Tuesday, September 29 (Day 200 of Quarantine)

Tuesday morning, a cold front blew in, and brought lots of rain with it.  I dropped the kids off at school and Maui off at the groomer, and then I spent the morning drinking hot tea, watching Father of the Bride 2, and working under my twinkle lights.

Unfortunately, I had lots of errands to run, so I spent the afternoon out in the chilly rain.  I had to pick Maui up and get her home, and then after a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up some ribbon, a trip to Carter’s to return something, and a trip to Kohl’s to do an Amazon return, I was cold and wet… but so much happier than if I was hot and sweaty!  :o)

I had a hair appointment at 1, and Jamey got my hair all fixed up after four months of not seeing him.  Yeesh, it was looking rough.  He cut it a little shorter again this time (just like I requested last time) and I’m loving how much more voluminous it is!

After my hair appointment, I had just enough time to run by UPS Store to drop a package before getting in the car line at 2:45.  We had no extracurriculars Tuesday evening, so I got in my PJs early and cooked a good dinner – barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli, and then we spent the rest of the evening cozied up.

We also watched that dumpster fire of a presidential debate, and that’s pretty much all I have to say about that.

Wednesday, September 30 (Day 201 of Quarantine)

Wednesday morning, we woke up to 40 degrees, so I thought a little treat was in order.  I intended to try a pumpkin cream cold brew since it was on my September goals list, but since it was cold out, all I wanted was a HOT coffee… so a salted caramel mocha it was.  It was so dang good.

I spent the morning working on blog posts, and then I spent the afternoon organizing ticket stubs.  As y’all know, I’m a very sentimental person, and I save so much stuff.  A couple of years ago, I cleaned out our entire house (including my old keepsakes) and I only kept the things that were absolutely the most special.

One of the things that made the cut was my ticket stub collection.  I’ve saved every single ticket stub from every concert, sports event, movie, show, flight, and attraction that I’ve been to, so you can probably imagine just how many tickets I have.  At one point, I had them organized in a binder in baseball card plastic pocket organizers, but I didn’t maintain it well, and at some point, I just started tossing all tickets in a box.

Well, my goal for October is to get them all organized, and I thought that instead of keeping them in a binder, that it would be fun to have them displayed in some way.  I’m working on a super fun project in my office right now – a new bulletin board – full of all of my adventures and I can’t wait to share it with y’all when it’s done!

Wednesday evening, Jacob had a makeup game and it was a close one.  We were up the entire time, but the other team ended up winning in the last second of the game, 10-9.  Jacob had another great game, getting one double, two singles, one RBI, and one run.  He did get a fourth hit, but he was thrown out at first.  Argh.

Thursday, October 1 (Day 202 of Quarantine)

Thursday, I worked all day in my office, and Nick Marshall joined me for the day.  I just love that movie, y’all.  Another one of my favorites!  I spent the whole afternoon organizing ticket stubs again, and I’m happy to report that I finally got them all done!

Jacob had another baseball game Thursday evening.  Whew.  Three games in a week… that’s a lot of baseball!  His team got a huge win, 15-6, and Jacob had another great game with one double, two singles, two RBIs, three runs, and he threw one person out at first.  He did bat a fourth time and he got a hit, but the pitcher threw him out at first.

He has become such a consistent little hitter, and his coach moved him to second in the batting lineup at the beginning of this season for that very reason.  I guess all of our quarantine back yard wiffle ball playing paid off big time!

Friday, October 2 (Day 203 of Quarantine)

Friday morning the weather was fall perfection – 48 degrees, crisp, and sunny – and I wanted nothing more than to just drop the kids at school and then go wrap myself up in my cozy blanket and drink hot tea while I worked.  However, I hadn’t worked out in three days, so I made myself get in a 2.5 mile run and I was so glad I did!  I never regret working out, but I almost always regret when I don’t.

After I finished my run and got showered, I threw on some leggings, an oversized and cozy Georgia sweatshirt, and then I cozied up with my blanket and hot tea.  The rest of the day was spent working and going through old pictures for the bulletin board I’m working on.

We got our weekly Covid update from the school Friday afternoon, and we’ve officially made it EIGHT WHOLE WEEKS without a single Covid case on our entire campus!!!!  God has been looking out for us for sure, and we pray that it continues throughout the school year!

Friday evening, we got Five Guys takeout and B and I made some Moscow Mules to go alongside our burgers and fries.  The weather was amazing, so we went for a walk around our neighborhood before heading back home to watch The Smurfs for family movie night.  B and I ended the evening with some pumpkin pie ice cream and a few episodes of Schitt’s Creek.  That show just keeps getting better and better, y’all!

Saturday, October 3 (Day 204 of Quarantine)

Saturday morning, we made some spooky waffles since it was the first Saturday of October, and then we spent the day hanging out at home, cleaning, doing laundry, getting a couple of house projects done, and watching football.

We grabbed takeout from our favorite local barbecue place for dinner, and then we all settled in to watch Georgia play Auburn in football at 7:30.  B and I have been getting season tickets to the Georgia football games for over a decade now, and he and I haven’t missed a single home Georgia vs. Auburn game in the last 20 years… until this year.  Even the year that Jacob was born, I left his tiny 3.5 month old self with my parents and made the trip to Athens for that game.  Sigh.

Because of Covid, we obviously couldn’t get our usual season tickets to all home games because they’re only allowing the stadium to fill at 20% capacity.  We could have opted-in and gotten tickets to two random games during the season, but because we’re so low on the donor list, we knew we would have gotten stuck with the worst games and the worst seats.  (Some of our donors have been donating for 50-60 years, so we have a long way to go before we catch up to that.  Haha.)  Because of that and the fact that the tickets were SO expensive this year, we just decided to opt-out altogether.  Devastating, y’all.

BUT – we whooped Auburn for the fourth year in a row and our team looked like national championship contenders Saturday night, so I’ll take it!!

Sunday, October 4 (Day 205 of Quarantine)

Sunday morning, we had cinnamon rolls while we watched church, and I spent the rest of the morning planning the week ahead and helping the kids with homework.  We had a small lunch at home, and then at 1 we headed to my Mama Cass’s house to visit with her and my parents once again.

The weather was just beautiful – sunny and cool – and we spent a couple of hours hanging out in the back yard and catching up.  I miss our Sunday dinners together terribly, but I’m so thankful that the sweltering heat has finally let up so we can at least gather together in the back yard.

On the way home, we swung by Target to grab a few necessities for our trip, and then Brian and the kids played video games while I worked in my office.

My momma gave us some leftover white chicken chili a couple of weeks ago, and I froze it since I’d already planned our meals that week, so I thawed that to have for Sunday dinner.  We’ve been having our Sunday charcuterie boards for the last couple of months, but we decided to take a break from those to eat something a little more substantial since we’d had such a tiny lunch.  Plus, we were out of a lot of the charcuterie board items, so it wouldn’t have been very good if we’d tried anyway.

After dinner, we headed straight back outside to take advantage of the gorgeous weather, and we walked to our neighborhood playground once again so the kids could run around and have some fun.  On the way back home, we were treated to a beautiful sunset, so we went in the back yard to enjoy it.  The kids wanted to snap pictures of it with their Leap Pads, and I took this picture of them doing it... so sweet!

And that was our week!  Happy Monday, y’all!

  1. Your weeks are always so busy! Three baseball games is sure a lot. I always remind Matt when we are at the girls dance recitals, that if they played sports we'd be at at least one game a weekend (although I do want to have them try soccer. I was going to this summer... obviously that didn't happen).

    1. Yes, we usually don't have three in one week, but we had to make up one from the previous week since we had some bad weather. Dance is definitely less time intensive than baseball, that's for sure!

  11. I save my ticket stubs for concerts and football games and have a little binder of them. The debate was exactly that. And doesn't it feel like that was a month and not a week ago?! Have so much fun in the mountains!

  12. You are watching all the oldies. I love it. I need to watch Father of the Bride part 1 and 2. I love those movies. Yay for Olivia losing her first tooth and being so brave about it. And yes to getting your hair done. It feels soooo nice. My hair was so long after not having it done for months. I should add sprinkles into our waffles. Such a good idea. Have a great time in the mountains!
