What I Ordered from Amazon in April 2020

Another month of quarantine, another month of quarantine purchases.  Let’s see why Amazon took our money this month…

Studded Sandals

I’m in need of some brown sandals for the summer as my trusty rusty $6 Walmart pair from three years ago is finally wearing out.  I came across these Steve Madden sandals a couple of months ago and I’ve been obsessing over them ever since.  I’m not one to spend a lot on shoes unless they’re ones that I’ll wear forever (tennis shoes, Hunter boots, etc.), so I’m not a huge fan of the price point.  Amazon is known for its fantastic dupes, so I decided to see if I could find some dupes for these!

Score!  I found these beauties for just $24.99 and they look so similar to the Steve Maddens!!  The quality is shockingly good and they are soooo comfy… they’re not stiff and cheap like some inexpensive shoes… they feel like buttah!!  I feel like I hit the jackpot with these and I can’t wait to wear them!

Pink Ruffled Sleeveless Top

During the summer, I mostly wear tank tops/sleeveless tops since it’s so dang hot here all the time.  The majority of my tanks require strapless bras, and a lot of days I just don’t enjoy wearing a strapless bra.  Therefore, I’ve been trying to be mindful about purchasing sleeveless tops that don’t require the strapless bra, and this one fits the bill.  It has been in my wish list for a while, so when it went on a lightning deal a while back, I couldn’t resist it.  It is SO cute, it’s thick so no undershirt is required, and it’s very flattering for all body types.  It comes in tons of colors, too, so I wouldn’t mind having it in a couple of others!  It's a great basic top!

Rose Gold Apple Watch Cover

I’m terrified of shattering my new Apple watch screen, so I ordered this watch cover.  It’s only $9.99 and it has 4.8 stars with over 8,000 reviews.  I just got it, so I haven’t yet put it on my watch, but I’ll report back once I use it!

The Road Back to You

I’ve been all into the self-improvement books lately, and I’ve also been obsessed with learning about the enneagram types.  I’ve heard this book is fantastic and I can’t wait to delve in as soon as I finish 10% Happier.

Smarty Pants Women’s Multi-Vitamins

I asked for recommendations on vitamins a couple of weeks ago and didn’t get many responses, so I ultimately did my own research and found my own vitamins.  When looking for a multi-vitamin, I was mostly looking for one that has Omega 3 DHA for brain and joint health (because you get that from eating fish, and I don’t eat fish) and Vitamin D3 for immunity (because pretty much everyone is deficient).  I was also hoping to find one that had magnesium, folate, and vitamin K (as a lot of women don’t get enough of those either).

Smarty Pants makes a gummy vitamin that has all of the above, but I’d read that gummy vitamins just aren’t really a great way to take vitamins… only kids and people who can’t swallow capsules should take them.  I was bummed until I discovered that Smarty Pants just released their new PhD formula vitamins which are in capsule form and they have all of the vitamins I was looking for!!!!

I’ve been taking these for a couple of weeks now and they are great so far!  They have a minty fresh scent and they don’t stink like a lot of vitamins do.  They also don’t give you the “fish burps” as I’ve read so many vitamins with Omega-3 DHA do.  I actually love the way these smell and taste… they remind me of mint and tea.  They’re also vegan, non-gmo, gelatin free, sugar free, and free of peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, fish, soy, wheat, and shellfish so pretty much anyone can take them safely!

I highly recommend these if you’re looking for a good multi-vitamin that’s tailored specifically for a woman’s body.

Muddler

Now that I’m growing my own basil and mint (among other herbs) I decided to get a muddler so we can start making all kinds of fun cocktails.  This one is stainless steel and it is only $7.99 and it’s very well-made and sturdy!  Loving it so far!

Iron and Ironing Board Organizer

We started making over our laundry room recently and after ten years of wanting to get our iron and ironing board off of the ground in there, we finally did it!!  I love all of mDesigns products (we have many) so it was a no-brainer to buy their iron organizer.  B hung it a couple of weekends ago and our laundry room is looking fantastic now!

Dish Cloths

Our dish cloths have reached the point of no return (again) so I bought these on Amazon to replace them.  I’ve purchased all of our dish cloths from Target in the past, but they’ve always worn out quickly, so I thought I’d try something highly rated from Amazon instead.  Upon opening the package, they’re definitely thicker and sturdier than my Target ones are, so I’m hoping they’ll hold up better!

Microfiber Cleaning Cloths

Fun fact, all of the cloths in our house that I use for cleaning, are my old washcloths from when I lived with my BFF back in college.  So they are, ohhhh, roughly, 14 years old.  They all have holes in them and they’re fraying to the point that the strings are hanging off by inches, so it was time for some new ones.  These microfiber cloths on Amazon were highly rated, and the thing that attracted me to them the most was that all of the reviews said they’re great for cleaning glass and mirrors as they don’t leave streaks.  No matter what I use and no matter how hard I try, I cannot for the life of me get the streaks off the mirror in our bedroom and it drives me INSANE.  I haven’t used these yet, but I have high hopes for them.

Amazon Basics Wireless Mouse

We purchased a new Chromebook for Jacob since both kids have to use the computer all day now, so it was necessary to purchase a new mouse, too.  I will always and forever be a mouse girl.  We now officially have three of these Amazon Basics wireless mouses (mice??) and they are awesome.  So affordable, cordless, and they work perfectly.  The one in my office is at least 4-5 years old and it’s still going strong.

Kindergarten Handwriting Paper

For the first few weeks of homeschooling, Olivia was using plain paper to do her assignments and I noticed her handwriting started going waaaay downhill.  I bought this pack of kindergarten handwriting paper that she was using in school, and now she’s back to writing her letters properly because she has her guidelines again.  Our school stresses the importance of handwriting (they still teach cursive) so it was pertinent that her handwriting stay on track for first grade.

Crayola Markers (2-pack)

Another necessity for homeschool.  The kids’ markers were dried out and nasty, so I bought this two-pack so they could each have their own new pack.  I only paid a few dollars for the two-pack, but for some reason the price has sky-rocketed on Amazon... they must be low on stock or something.

Stickers

I’m the room mom for Jacob’s third grade class so I’m responsible for organizing birthday celebrations for the class.  Since in-person school was canceled, we were not able to celebrate March – July birthdays in class.  Instead, we are having a Zoom birthday celebration in a couple of weeks, and I ordered these stickers plus some Smarties for each of the kids to open at the party.  It’ll be a lot of work getting them all mailed out, but it’ll be worth it.

These stickers are great, though… they’re not just basic stickers… they’re the ones that are reuseable and the kids can stick them on laptops and iPads, and water bottles and whatever else they’d like to stick them on and not ruin the surfaces.

Origami Paper Pack

One of Jacob’s Library assignments a couple of weeks ago was to make an origami ice cream cone after reading a poem about ice cream.  He took a liking to origami after that, and he’s been an origami machine!!  So I ordered some paper for him.

  3. I have microfiber cloths and I can only find two of them - I know I had more! I just take one-a-day type vitamins, but I've been wondering if there is a good type for Gabbie to take.

  8. I love those sandals! I can't wear shoes like though since I have an incredibly high arch and most shoes dig in and make it uncomfortable. I hear ya on the strapless bra; I have yet to find one I can stand wearing for more than a few hours (and even then I have to adjust it constantly!). That is a cute tank top. I am wearing on today that is cut nice and wide in the shoulders so I can wear a normal bra with it.

    1. The strapless bra I have currently is from Target and it's actually probably the most comfortable one I've ever owned! I have to say, though, it's still not my favorite!

  9. Jack went through a big origami phase, and he still occasionally enjoys making some elaborate designs. It's a fun hobby! Great finds this month. What have you heard about the gummy vitamins? I take a chewable (not gummy though) vitamin because I really have a hard time swallowing big pills. Hope you havea good week! PS. I am a mouse gal too. Grace only uses the touchpad and it kind of drives me crazy...ha, ha!

  10. So many good purchases! I have some mircofiber cloths...I will have to try those for my mirror. I have the same problem - it looks clean until the light hits it and I see ALL the streaks! I used to take OLLY vitamins, then eventually just went to the Target brand since the ingredients were so similar. I never repurchased those so its been years...might be time to look at a new vitamin. Makes me so sad to hear about the gummies though, haha. It always felt like a little treat taking them!
