What I Wore - February 2020

What a weird, weird few days.  I'm still processing all of what has been happening and I still feel like it hasn't quite hit home all of the events that have transpired over the last few days.  I wrote the post below over a week ago before everything got crazy, but I couldn't let it go live without acknowledging the ongoing situation in our world right now.

Our schools have all been canceled until at least April 6, our spring break trip to Disney World was canceled as Disney World has closed, and our local stores have been running out of toilet paper, meat, bread, milk, and other items for a week now.  Absolute craziness.  I'll be discussing it more in the days and weeks to come, I'm sure, but in the meantime, I just wanted to pop in and say that I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and trying to enjoy the unexpected downtime as much as you can during such an uncertain time.  Much love to all of you!

The name of the game for February was RAIN.  Oh my goodness, so. much. rain.  I know we’ve had rainy periods in the past, but I honestly can’t remember anything as extreme as what we’ve had these past couple of months.  Our local weather people recently posted on Facebook that we’ve had almost three FEET of rain since December.  I mean, come on!  The first person to start talking about a drought this summer is going to get backhanded.  Hahahaha.

Needless to say, rain boots, duck boots, and pretty much any boots or tennis shoes were on my feet the majority of the month.  All of my poor flats have been sitting in my closet, unworn, just waiting to be loved.

That said, I’ve been especially grateful for my Hunter boots these past two months.  They keep my feet and legs nice and dry no matter how flooded the roads and parking lots are and they have held up tremendously well these last few years.  I consider them to be a great investment since they should last my whole life.  Am I getting sick of wearing them?  Absolutely.  But I’m glad I do have them for times like these when we’re right on the verge of building an ark.  Please, please let us have lots of sunshine this spring!

  2. I still can't believe all the rain you guys were getting! Hopefully, you'll have plenty of sunshine so the kiddos can get outdoors while we have to stay put at home <3

  3. Hope the rain stays away so you can enjoy more vitamin D while your kids are out. At the moment ours have only been closed this week but I'm sure it will be longer given the new CDC guidelines. Now what to do with teens who don't understand social distancing other than being on their devices 24/7

  4. I hope you're holding up ok, things have been crazy! My kids are home at least till April 20. My older kids are supposed to have online school but I'm quite unsure how Simon will actually get enough school work to keep him moving along towards finishing 4th grade! Anyway, about your post...love the Hello sweatshirt!

  8. I love the blue gown you wore to the ball. So pretty. We have been having dreary weather all weekend here and it is still like that. Here is to hoping it gets better and we can be outside during this quarantine.
