Smoothies are one of my favorite things to make when I want something nutritious for breakfast or lunch. Today I’m sharing my go-to smoothie that I’ve been making for years... I started making this one when I was on maternity leave with Olivia and I’ve loved it ever since. It's packed with greens, protein, local honey, and other super foods, and the best part about it is that it's quick and easy to make.
Buy It
1/2 Banana
3 Strawberries
1 handful
spinach
1 handful kale
1 cup banana
Greek yogurt (I love Oikos Triple Zero because there is little sugar)
1 Tbsp. local
honey
1 Tbsp. organic
chia seeds (I love Trader Joe’s)
Ice
Use It
Ninja Blender with single-serve blending cups (this blender is a game changer!!)
Make It
1.
Throw
all ingredients directly into a Ninja single-serve blending cup and attach the
lid with the blade.
2.
Lock
the single-serve cup into the blender, turn on the power, and hold down the “single-serve”
button until smoothie is well blended.
3.
Remove
the lid with the blade and drink up!
This smoothie is chock full of greens and other super foods and I love that it's sweetened naturally with local honey. I'm an allergy sufferer so taking local honey is an important part of my daily routine.
Also, I cannot recommend this blender enough! We've had ours for six years now and it's still going strong. Being able to blend your smoothie right in the cup you'll drink it from is a total game changer! Just blend it and go... no clean-up required!

Yum! I never thought to add honey to a smoothie - such a great way to add some sweetness.
ReplyDeleteI have really been into smoothies too. I love the addition of the honey and beloved chia seeds!!
ReplyDeleteI want to do more smoothie making. Thanks for the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! This one is just so easy!
DeleteYum!! Funny story, Emma bought a Ninja blender with some Christmas money this past year! I said what 13 year old buys a blender! LOL But we all love it! We make smoothies all the time and it's fun to come up with different recipes for them :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about smoothies for breakfast - it's the best way to start the day!! I haven't added chia seeds or flax to mine yet, but I should! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteYUM!! Sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteYUM! Love that you add some Greek yogurt (my fav) <3

I love smoothies, especially in the summer!
ReplyDeleteLove my ninja! I made a similar smoothie this morning but with mango and blueberries. I have never thought to put chia seeds in, I will have to try that!
ReplyDeleteI make almost the same recipe. Mine has half a banana, 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup almond milk, handful spinach, and sometimes I add a 1/2 scoop of peanut butter protein powder. Going to try your recipe for sure. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYum, that sounds good! I need to remember to use almond milk sometimes instead of yogurt. And I like the idea of using protein powder, too!
DeleteSmoothies are a favorite around here!
ReplyDeleteThey are so easy and yummy! And a great way to get whole foods!
DeleteSounds nutritious. I am not a big smoothie drinker though since I really really can not stand bananas and almost all smoothie recipes use them to thicken it up.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that's a bummer. Yes, it would probably be hard to do a smoothie without the banana.
DeleteI am buying a Vitamix blender because I miss making smoothies!!! Our NutriBullet just doesn't cut it anymore. Dustin has added yogurt to his smoothies before--I should try it!

Honey makes everything better! Especially when it's local and homemade. I'll have to give your recipe a try.
ReplyDeleteYes, please do!
DeleteYummy! I've been looking for more smoothie recipes. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Glad I could help!
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS: Our Menaka has chosen your smoothie recipe to be featured in the next Blogger's Pit Stop. Well done.
