What I Ordered from Amazon in December 2019

December’s Amazon purchases were fewer than I expected considering December is a huge shopping month for most people, but I attribute that to the fact that we did the majority of our Christmas shopping in November.  Since my purchases didn’t make for a super lengthy post, I decided to include a couple of purchases that B made through his account as well.  Y’all ready to see what we bought?

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

I had a favorite things Christmas exchange for the book club I’m joining and everyone had to bring a copy of their favorite book along with a favorite thing.  Something Borrowed is always the first one that pops in my head when I think of my favorite book… it’s my go-to when I want something comforting and familiar since I’ve read it so many times.  It makes me laugh and it makes me cry, and it’s just all-around very well written.  If you haven’t read it I highly recommend, and I also recommend pretty much anything by Emily Giffin.  She’s my favorite author.

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

One of the other girls at the book club exchange brought this book as her favorite and several of the other girls agreed that it’s fabulous, especially if you struggle with social anxiety or awkwardness.  I suffer from anxiety, a large amount of it stemming from social situations, so I checked it out on Amazon as soon as I got home from the party that evening.  With almost 15,000 reviews (most of them stellar) and nearly 5 stars I knew it would be a beneficial read.  I’ll let y’all know what I think after I get through it.

Starry Night Socks

My Daddy is an artist and he’s always loved Van Gogh, so I thought these Starry Night socks were perfect for him for Christmas!

Plain Long Sleeve White Tee

Olivia’s teacher asked everyone to bring in a plain white t-shirt for the kids to decorate for Christmas, and Amazon is my go-to for plain t-shirts every single time.  They have them in every color, they’re super affordable, and I don’t have to drive all over creation trying to find one!

Amazon Gift Card in a Santa Holder

This was part of my littlest brother’s Christmas gift.  I always prefer to get Amazon gift cards directly from Amazon (rather than Walgreens or some other brick and mortar store) because they offer so many cute packaging options for no additional charge!  And gift cards always arrive in one day!

Leap Frog Musical Rainbow Tea Set

When the original gifts that I’d purchased for my niece and nephew didn’t arrive on time, it was Amazon to the rescue for last-minute back-up gifts!  I picked this one out for my niece.  Olivia had something similar and I thought this one was adorable.

Melissa & Doug Vehicles 4-in-1 Wooden Puzzles

We sponsored a couple of children through our church for Christmas, and the little boy we chose requested puzzles, so I bought this set of four for him.  Jacob had this exact same set and he loved it so I knew it’d be perfect.

Melissa & Doug Construction Vehicles 4-in-1 Wooden Puzzles

I bought this one for him, too!  I couldn’t resist!

Creativity for Kids Grow N Glow Terrarium Science Kit

This terrarium was a gift for the little girl who we sponsored through church.

Flower Pillow

Olivia randomly asked Santa for a “flower shaped pillow” both times she sat on his lap this year, and Santa was able to find the perfect one on Amazon!  ;o)

Create Your Own Window Art

This set was another gift for the little girl we sponsored through church.  She said she wanted arts and crafts stuff, so she got it!

Letter Beads Set

This jewelry set was another gift for the little girl who we sponsored through church.

LEGO Duplo My First Animal Building Blocks

This LEGO Duplo set was the replacement gift for my nephew when one of his original gifts didn’t arrive in time for Christmas.  You truly can’t go wrong with LEGO Duplo anything… our kids still play with theirs all these years later so I’m hoping these will grow with him.

Hatchimals Llalacorn

Olivia also asked Santa for a “Big Hatchimal” for Christmas, so Santa brought this Hatchimals Llalacorn.  We liked this one because it can hatch over and over again.  We also couldn’t believe how tall the thing gets!  It’s crazy!  And it's incredibly interactive.

LuminAID Solar Inflatable Lantern

My nephew wanted camping supplies for Christmas, so we got one of these rechargeable lanterns as part of his gift… these things are awesome!!  You can charge them via solar power in about 10 hours or via USB in 1-2 hours, no batteries or outlets required.  They have multiple brightness settings, they’re lightweight, collapsible, waterproof, shatterproof, and dustproof but they are high performing.  They’re perfect for your back yard, camping, the pool, the beach, lake or river trips, emergency situations, or pretty much anywhere else.  I’m considering getting a couple of these to keep on hand at home for emergencies.  Oh, and they were also on Shark Tank a few years ago… I actually remember the episode!

If you want to see we’ve ordered in past months, check out the posts below.

Happy Tuesday!

  2. Cool stuff! I have that How to Win Friends book, my mom gave it to me when I was a kid. Maybe I should pass it on to Gabbie now. I love the idea of bringing books to a favorite things exchange!

  6. Thanks for all the fun ideas, and thanks for the book recommendation. I'm in a reading slump right now (have started and not finished about 3 books in the past week.) I just got Something borrowed from the library in audio as soon as I read this! Thanks for linking up with Prime Purchases! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
