Five on Friday - Valentine’s Day Faves

Happy Friday, y’all!  It’s been a busy week this week, but I’ve spent lots of time connecting with others – volunteering at the kids’ school, lunching with old coworkers, and spending time outside – and I’m feeling quite refreshed and excited for the weekend!  Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and since I already shared a couple of other Valentine’s Day related posts this week, I thought I’d just keep the theme going with some Valentine’s Day faves!

O N E – Home Décor

I bought this garland from the one and only Target this year and it has been such a fun edition to our mantle.  The wood beading detail makes it more substantial than most other garlands and the warm wood tones give it such a rich look.

I also bought this table runner because one, it’s pink, two, it’s covered in hearts, and three, it has ruffles.  It’s the perfect size for our kitchen table and I like that I am able to use it without having to put away any of our everyday decorations to accommodate it.

T W O – Ladies Clothes

I absolutely love this sweater on Amazon.  It comes in lots of other color combos, too.  Just precious.

I also love this top (below) and this top (second below) as well.

T H R E E – Kids Clothes

Target is killing it in the little girls section right now (I mean, when aren’t they?) and there are so many cute Valentine’s Day options.  Give them all to us!!

This multi-hearts dress is the perfect comfy play dress.

And this dress has a fun tulle skirt... these are always Olivia's favorite dresses.

And these leggings could be paired with either of them.  So fun!

Jacob’s at the age where he’s probably not too interested in wearing anything Valentines-y (yes, I made up that word), but there are a few options that he wouldn't mind wearing.

F O U R – Gifts Ideas

We don’t go overboard for V-Day, but I do like to get a card + a little something for each of the kids.  We are a big LEGO family, and they have the cutest sets that are perfect to give as Valentine’s Day gifts.

Puzzles and fun plates and cups also make fun gifts.

For the man or lady in your life, how perfect is this scratch-off bucket list or list of dates to go on?  Something fun for y'all to do together as a couple!

I’m also a big fan of mugs, and there are definitely some cute ones that would make great gifts for pretty much anyone.

F I V E – Valentine’s Day Cards

I’m going to go ahead and give the award for best store-bought Valentine’s Day cards to these – Mad Libs cards + pencils!  Each kid gets a card with it’s own Mad Libs message to fill out and it comes with a cute pencil that they can keep.  It’s fun, it’s educational, and it comes with something they’ll use every day.  The best part?  They come 16 to a box and they are only $3.50!  Jacob wanted to give every third-grader a card this year (46 kids total) and we were able to get enough for both third grade classes for just over $10.

And if your child is obsessed with Frozen 2 as Olivia is, be sure to check out these Frozen 2 Valentines!  Each card comes with a sparkly tattoo so they're extra fun!  Only $2.50 per box.

Friday Funnies

I don't need no man!

Brian and Maui.  Hahahaha.

Still waiting...

Me in my ball gown tomorrow night when we're leaving the house.

Soap ends up costing $100 every single time.

On the Blog This Week

Jacob officially has his first baseball practice tomorrow, then B and I are off to a ball Saturday evening and hosting a Super Bowl get together at our house Sunday evening... it should be a fun weekend!  Happy Friday, y’all!

Valentine’s Day Home Tour 2020

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Lots of Valentine’s Day stuff for you on the blog this week!  First my V-Day charcuterie board, and now our home tour!  I obviously don’t get as crazy with the décor for Valentine’s Day as I do for fall and Christmas, but I still wanted to share the little touches throughout the house.  I'll be sure to link as many of the items as I can at the end of this post in case you see anything that catches your eye!

First up, the living room!  Since our mantle is completely redecorated September – December for fall and Christmas, I like to keep things simple for Valentine’s Day so our everyday décor can stay in its rightful place.  This year I opted for two garlands and I think those add a lot to the space even though there’s not much to them.

I added a pink throw to the couch to warm it up a little bit and I also added a little bowl of Conversation Hearts to the tray on the coffee table.

Then I added a few pops of pink to the bar cart as well as another one of those old Target garlands for the chalkboard.  I’ve used those for the past 4-5 years, I think, and they are still my favorite.  And they were from the Dollar Spot so they were super cheap!  As you can see, the “vibes only” part of the chalkboard is still going strong.  After our crappy start to last year I changed the chalkboard early in 2019 to say “positive vibes only” (or something like that) and throughout the year I just kept changing the first word to accompany each of the holidays/seasons (fall vibes only, Christmas vibes only, NYE vibes only, etc.).

I decided to keep it going this year, partly because I don’t want to jinx us and ruin our year (kidding… kind of) and partly because I’m lazy and don’t feel like coming up with a new design.  Haha.  Olivia asked me the other day why the chalkboard has been talking about vibes for so long so apparently she’s ready for something new.  Haha.

Moving on to the kitchen table, the heart of our home… I couldn’t resist this ruffled pink table runner sprinkled with hearts and it was the perfect addition to the kitchen table since I had nothing else to put there.

I didn’t change the side table area or the tray on our island at all, but I thought I’d include a couple of pictures of the areas since our everyday décor looks like it’s ready for Valentine’s Day.  ;o)  Y’all know I love pink!

This little vignette in the corner of the kitchen counter is always one of my favorite areas to decorate, and it ended up being one of my favorite little corners in the whole house.  A few of the items there are part of our everyday décor, but the baking book and the pink pitcher (an old Target Dollar Spot find) are out especially for V-Day.

As always, I changed out the mugs on my coffee bar to go along with the holiday and it’s just the cutest!  I don’t drink coffee at home very often, but I do drink hot tea every single morning so my mugs to get a workout.  I’m all about simplifying but I do like to collect cute mugs!  I use them all!

Finally, I have my pink and white buffalo plaid hand towels out right now and they are probably my favorite thing in our kitchen!  They are just so fun and they make things so light and happy!

And that’s it, y’all!
