Today is one of my favorite posts of the entire year… my Christmas home tour! I actually have a love/hate relationship with these home tour posts. I love decorating and sharing our home with you, and I love being able to look back at these old home tour posts, but oh my goodness it is so much work to get everything decorated, tidied up, photographed, and edited! Picture editing is what eats up the majority of my time here on the blog, so when I have 80+ pictures for one post it takes for-eh-vurrrr.
Last Christmas I started
transitioning our colors in the main rooms, and this year I completed the
transition. For eleven years I had
decorated with dark red and gold, and I decided last year that I wanted
something a little brighter while still sticking with traditional Christmas
colors. My ultimate goal was to replace
all of the dark red elements with true red and replace most of the gold
elements with white, and then I wanted to add in pops of green and also a
little bit of pink just to keep things interesting.
Last year I completed the
dark red and gold to true red and white transition and I also added the green,
so this year all I had to do was add the pops of pink. Y’all, the end result is Christmas perfection
and it was worth the wait. I love that our
overall color scheme is traditional but that it has the extra fun pink element…
the pink makes everything so much more whimsical!
Anyway, enough chatter… go
ahead and settle in… this is a long post!
And keep your eyes open for all of the pops of pink! :o)
The outdoor decorations are
exactly the same as last year, but I did have to get a new wreath for the front
door this year. Our wreath that we’ve
used the last few years broke at the end of last season, so I found this wreath
to replace it. I don’t think I’ve ever
loved a wreath so much either! This one
is HUGE and just gorgeous. The best part
is that the original price was $85 and I got it for just under $20 on Cyber
Monday from stacking loads of coupons at Kohls.com. My love for Kohl’s runs deep, y’all.
I did replace the red bows
on the wreaths this year as the ones from last year were ratty and faded. It definitely made a big difference.
Here is the view when you
first walk in the door…
The formal dining room is on
the right and nothing has changed in there since last year. I always decorate in silver and white in
there since it matches our décor.
If you keep on walking
straight from our front door, you walk right into our living room… my favorite
room for decorations!
This year we purchased a new
dresser to store our DVDs, so I finally had an acceptable place to set up our
Nativity. This sure beats the ugly black
bookshelf that we had there last year!!!!
Earlier this year we also
had our entertainment center painted white (from black) and I cannot believe
how much this transformed our entire living room and Christmas decorations this
year!!!! The white entertainment center
really allows the Christmas tree and mantle to shine! And since the entertainment center is white
now, I was actually inspired to decorate it for the first time ever!
I mean, just look at this
beautiful set up! Those bottle brush
trees and that gorgeous star garland just make
the mantle this year. It’s my very
favorite view in the whole house and I love nothing more than snuggling up on
the couch in the evening next to it.
The coffee table holds a
basket of the kids’ Christmas dress-up stuff – hats, silly glasses, and
snowflake glasses – and I also have our basket of old Christmas cards displayed
there as well.
Hello, white kitchen
cabinets!!!! Yet another game changer
from this year… I’ve never loved our
house more than I do right at this very moment, y’all.
Earlier this year after a
rough few months, I wrote “Good Vibes Only” on the chalkboard and I vowed to
leave it up for the rest of the year. I
changed “good” to “fall” for the fall season and I changed “fall” to “Christmas”
for the Christmas season. I have to say,
things have turned around since we’ve
had that on the wall! Ha!
And the wonderful bar cart…
The kitchen table… I just
love those red poinsettias on those white snowflakes!
I decorated my favorite
tiered tray with a bunch of random odds and ends and it’s probably one of my
favorites ever… probably because of all of the pops of pink. ;o) Also, I spy Cheek, our elf! ;o)
And my oils basket remains
on the kitchen island, but I did spruce it up with a festive dish towel and
some other decorations.
All this cozy corner needs
is a fun Christmas recipe book! I’ll
have to make sure I have one to display for next year. There are those bottle brush trees
again. Sigh… I love them…
And my coffee bar is all
decked out with Christmas goodies.
I always put out seasonal
soaps and this Mrs. Meyers Iowa Pine scent smells exactly like the perfect Christmas
tree.
In recent years I’ve been
hanging our Christmas cards on the closet door in the kitchen, but I love my
wreath there so much now that I just decided to hang the cards next to the
closet so I could leave the wreath on the door.
When I photographed this room we had only received two holiday cards,
but now that it’s starting to fill up I’m a little worried that there may not
be enough room on this tiny wall. Only
time will tell, I suppose…
The guest bathroom has its usual
two silver snowmen and some Frosted Cranberry soap…
And that’s it for
downstairs!
Moving on upstairs to the
master bedroom… nothing much has changed here from last year. I added those fun pink, white, and aqua pom
poms last year when they didn’t match our bedding, and now that we have new
bedding they do match! LOVE!
Jacob’s tree has the same
color scheme as last year (red, white, and blue to match his room), but this
year there is one difference. I let him
add all of his handmade ornaments to it this year instead of putting them on
the main tree in the living room. Our
living room tree was bursting at the seams, so removing all of the kids’
handmade ornaments from it alleviated that a bit.
The color scheme for Olivia’s
tree changed this year from hot pink and purple to light pink and gold… to
match her big girl room that we decorated earlier this year. And I also added her handmade ornaments to
her tree as well.
Now for the final room, the
room you’ve likely seen already… my home office!! This year I revamped my décor in there and I put
up a gorgeous rainbow tree that I’d dreamt about for years. You can see more of it in this post here.
Now it’s time to see some of
the rooms all lit up at night!
Magical.
I feel like this year I finally
have all of the Christmas décor the way that I want it for the first time
ever! I have a feeling that means that next
year’s home tour is going to be a carbon copy of this year’s. Haha.
We’ll see!
And for those of you who have already asked, I'll link as many things here as I can.

LOVE! It just looks so very festive and so very cozy at night with that tree and the mantle. When you told me about the pink, I was super curious to see how it would come together, but it's gorgeous! Just so you. I feel like I could go on and on, haha. The nativity is one of my favorites, too, and I love the addition of the trees behind it and the ornaments to give it some color. I have had my eye on that nativity for YEARS and I am just keeping my fingers crossed it will go on sale sometimes between now and next Christmas.
