Happy Monday, y’all! Before I get started on my Amazon post for this past month, I have a couple of housekeeping notes for the blog…
I have been
posting weekend/weekly recaps every Monday since I started blogging, but since
that requires me to spend a good chunk of time every Sunday composing the posts,
I’ve decided to make some minor changes...
Effective immediately,
I’m going to move my weekly recaps to Tuesday, and Monday will now be for
miscellaneous content (recipes, fashion, organization, etc.) that can be
prepared prior to the weekend. That will
allow me to keep my weekends work-free, which is the way it should be anyway.
When I first
started blogging, the kids were still taking naps on Sunday afternoon so it
wasn’t a big deal for me to spend a couple of hours on a blog post. Now that they are older they don’t take naps
anymore, and I’d much rather be doing something fun with them every Sunday
afternoon than sitting at my computer… especially when it’s beautiful outside!
We also use
Sunday to prepare for the week ahead, and these past few Sundays I’ve been
spending so much time on my blog posts for Monday that I haven’t had time to do
my weekly prep, and that has caused me to feel super scattered for the rest of
the week. No bueno.
This is just one of the many changes I’m
making to make my life less stressful and more purposeful. My weekly recaps have been an annoyance lately and I’ve found that I’ve been dreading doing them (on Sunday), so it was time to make a
change. I blog because I love it and I
always promised myself that I’d always take care to keep it that way. I don’t want to get burned out!
That said, I’m
sure there will be times when I do post a weekly recap on a Monday or do a
little bit of blog work on a Sunday, but it’s nice to know that I will no
longer feel obligated to. So if you
enjoy reading about our weekly adventures, just be sure to start checking the
blog every Tuesday!
Okay, for my
first non-weekly recap, I thought I’d share my Amazon purchases from
October. Everybody always seems to love
those… I know they’re some of my favorites to read! Here’s what I bought in October…
Outdoor String Lights
These are my
favorite outdoor lights and they’re the ones that we’ve had on our back porch
since 2015. I have something soooo fun
planned for this new strand, so stay tuned!
Wood Cutting Board
I purchased this board for preparing cheese and charcuterie boards. I’ve had a Georgia shaped board that I’ve
used forever, but I wanted a basic one to use for special events like Halloween,
Christmas, and New Year’s… it’s kind of weird having a Halloween spread on a
Georgia shaped board. Ha! This board is beautiful in person and I love
that it has a handle because that makes it so much easier to move from place to
place!
Waffle Iron
Our waffle iron
of 12 years finally bit the dust last weekend.
It was a wedding gift that we received back in 2007 so I’d say we
definitely got a ton of use out of it… especially when you consider how often
we make waffles (at least once a week)!
Lo and behold, they still make the exact same waffle iron all these
years later and it’s only $19.99 on Amazon, so you better believe I bought the
exact same one again! If it lasts 12
years like the other one did, we’ll still be using it in 2031. That is just crazy to think about.
Leggings
I found these leggings a couple of years ago on Amazon and I couldn’t love them more! These pink ones went on a
lightning deal a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t add them to my cart fast
enough! They’re regularly $19.99 but I
got them for $14.44!! They come in
tons of colors and lengths, too.
Xyzal Allergy Medicine
I take Xyzal
daily for my allergies because it works way better for me than Zyrtec or
Claritin. It’s cheaper on Amazon than
anywhere else (including Walmart) so it’s one of the items that I order over
and over.
Ouchless Hair Elastics
Olivia is super
tender-headed, so ouchless elastics are the only thing I can use in her
hair. We bought a pack of these for her
a couple of years ago, but as hair elastics do, they slowly disappeared, so it
was time to buy another pack.
LEGO Vampire
B and I always
give the kids a little something for Halloween (other than candy since they
already get so much of that!) and this year I decided to go with Legos. This vampire is the cutest and he loved it so
much!
LEGO Witch
We gave Olivia
the Lego witch for Halloween and she loved it, too!
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Advent Calendar
My mom and dad
give the kids traditional Advent calendars filled with chocolate every year,
but I thought it would be fun to get them toy Advent calendars this year just
to change it up! Legos are Jacob’s
favorite thing so this Lego Star Wars Advent calendar is going to blow his little
mind. And momma, if you still want to
get the chocolate calendars for the kids, please do! I’m sure they won’t mind one little bit! ;o)
Hatchimals 2019 Advent Calendar
We obviously had
to find something fun for Olivia, too.
She’s been obsessed with Hatchimals for well over a year now, so I
thought this one would be perfect for her.
I just think it’ll be a really fun little gift to give to the kids to
kick off the holiday season!
Hatchimals Christmas Ornament
Our elf, Cheek,
brings new ornaments for the kids every year when he comes, and he always
brings an ornament that has special meaning for each kid. As I said, Olivia is obsessed with Hatchimals
so I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate for her this year than this Hatchimals ornament. And in case you’re wondering, Jacob is
getting the Hallmark LEGO keepsake ornament this year, but I ordered it
elsewhere as they didn’t have it on Amazon when I checked. ;o)
Lunchbox Notes
Jacob and Olivia
are both really into jokes right now, so I just bought two new packs of
lunchbox notes to put in their lunchboxes (knock-knock jokes and regular jokes).
They are just too cute. It’s an
inexpensive way to do something special for them and add a little bit of fun to
their lunchtime when I’m not there with them.
Face Paint Crayons
We have extreme
spirit day at school every year and this year I finally remembered to buy a
face paint kit to paint the kids’ faces!
I love these because they’re easy to use and the colors are nice and
bright!
Mini Piano with Microphone
I bought this mini piano for my niece for her first birthday. It’s
tiny so it’s much easier for the little ones to carry around than the bigger
keyboards.
LEGO Race Car
This was
purchased as a gift for one of Jacob’s classmates for a birthday party he
attended last weekend. It would be
perfect for a Christmas gift!
LEGO Duplo Train Set
This Lego Duplo set was also
purchased as a gift!
And that’s
it! If you want to see we’ve ordered in
past months, check out the posts below.
Happy Monday!
Don't forget to link up with Heather, Johannah, Tanya, and myself... just grab our new graphic and link up below!
We buy an ornament each year for the kids too; but I have to admit that it is getting a bit harder to come up with something fun and pertinent to their lives the older they get.
ReplyDeleteI bet! Kids are so hard to buy for the older they get!!
DeleteI think it's a great choice to shift your work so you have your weekends work free!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was SO nice to have Sunday completely free of blogging this past weekend! I got to spend more time with the kids and it was great!
DeleteMy mom always gets us ornaments each year, too, and she actually has gotten my brother a Lego one before! We never did advent calendars, but those look so fun and I love how they are tailored to the kids interests. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat little keyboard is so cute!! So many great finds and all those legos - I'll have to get them for my nephew for Christmas! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI don't post weekend recaps because if I do anything on the weekend I don't have time to post about it for Monday! So I definitely get your reason for changing it up!
ReplyDeleteI too have allergies in the fall and winter and I use Claritin but I've never tried the Zyzal. I will have to try that out sometime. I love the pretty pink work out pants. I like the ones that have a side pocket that I can put my cell phone in. Have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteI need to find an advent calendar like the ones you chose in something the girls like. Those hair ties are great!
ReplyDeleteI keep saying we need a good waffle iron, especially with the holidays coming up and all the special breakfasts <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Those lunch box notes are adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteWho can ever go wrong with legos... we load up on them for fun things when the kiddos come over
That's a great idea about the posting schedule. I have found myself staying up late trying to get a weekend wrap post up for our Hello Monday link up. We have been buying a lego advent calendar for many, many years. This year I got the Harry Potter version. They're so fun! Thanks for (in advance) linking up with Prime Purchases! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
ReplyDeleteI was just telling my mom how I want to waffle iron! I love that you were being more purposeful with your blog post, it always makes me feel better!
ReplyDeleteThe lunch box notes are so cute! I have a set I got too, but haven't used them yet and one of my kids can't really read yet! LOL! Maybe next year! Glad you are switching things up, I always wondered how you were getting your weekend recap out! Yes family time is the best time! You always get the best stuff from Amazon, you fuel my shopping habit, lol!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I love that you will be spending more time with the kids. That's exactly why I stopped doing my Monday posts unless it's something planned out ahead of time. Thank you for sharing that face painting kit! A has been asking for one and we went around after halloween thinking we could find one marked down but we had no luck. I think this will be a great gift for them :)
ReplyDeleteSuch great purchases! I got Mason the Lego Harry Potter advent for this year. His Elf always brings it on the 1st of December! I love that your Elf brings them an ornament. Ours usually brings an ornament the day we go to Bethlehem revisited so it’s typically a nativity ornament.
