‘Tis the season for… gift guides, y’all! You either love them or you hate them… although, I’m sure most of us will be hating them in about 2-3 weeks when that’s all we see on every blog. Haha.
I’m an early
shopper as you can probably imagine, given my Type A personality and my
cross-all-the-things-off-all-the-lists attitude, so naturally, I’m posting my
gift guides early in case you’re like me and you like to shop early, too!
This year I’m
going to keep it simple and do five gift guides over the next couple of weeks
– one for the big kids, one for the babies, one for the teenagers, one for the ladies, and one for the guys. I always love seeing all of the unique gift
lists that pop up in my blog roll every year – “for the crafter,” “for the
baker,” “for the person who has everything,” etc. – but there aren’t enough
days in my content calendar to do eighteen different gift guides, so mine are
just going to be simple and straightforward this year.
Let's get to the first one, shall we? This one's for the big kids, ages 5-12.
1 // Snap Circuits – this STEM and engineering toy allows kids to assemble electronic
circuits with actual electronic parts. My
parents got some of these for Jacob a couple of years ago and he loves
them. These are safe to use, require no
tools, and it comes with easy to understand instructions. I cannot recommend these enough!
2 // Lipsmacker Chapsticks – our kids are both
obsessed with chapstick, so we always put a fun set in their stockings each
year. Jacob received this Coke products
set last year and he’s still using it.
He loves all of the flavors!
3 // The Floor is Lava Board Game – I think this is a game that all kids play at home
regardless of whether or not they have this game, but this game allows them to
play with real game parts which means they’ll no longer use your throw pillows
and couch cushions. You’re welcome. ;o)
4 // Fashion Plates – these allow kids to create new outfits, “rub” them onto paper, and
then color them. I had them when I was
little and I loved them so much, and
these have already been purchased for Olivia for Christmas. I can’t wait to give them to her!
5 // Rainbow Hair Ties – we are constantly losing hair ties around these parts, so this
set of 100 is the perfect stocking stuffer for your little one.
6 // Bounce Off Board Game – this is one of our go-to gifts for birthday parties. It’s kind of similar to Beer Pong, but
without the beer and without the cups.
Lol. Super fun, though, and super
affordable at just $8.75.
7 // Garmin Jr. –
perfect for the kid who wants in on the fitness tracker action! Comes in several different colors and
designs.
8 // Imagination Magnets – this set comes with 42 magnets and 50 cards of ideas for your child
to build. Kids build their creation on
the magnetic boards right inside the box, so there’s not a lot of mess. My MIL gave this to the kids years ago and
they still play with it!
9 // Spirograph –
I had one of these when I was little and it was one of my favorite things! Such a unique gift to give!
10 // Disney Princess “Comfy Clothes” 14 Dolls Set – this set includes nearly every single
Disney princess dressed in her “comfy clothes” and it’s the ultimate set for
the little girl who loves the Barbie size Disney princess dolls.
11 // Unicorn robe – plush and sweet and perfect for any little girl. They also make several other versions, many
of which are perfect for boys.
12 // Star Projector Night Light – this projects light and shapes onto the walls and ceilings
and there are 9 different light settings.
Perfect for kids who are afraid of the dark and use a night light.
13 // Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone – no need for big clunky karaoke machines anymore…
this microphone does it all! It’s an
Amazon best seller.
14 // Plasma Car
– our kids got one of these for Christmas last year and they still love
it. It’s small and gentle enough for
them to ride on in the house and they have so much fun with it.
15 // Thermos Funtainer – I’ve raved about these multiple times on the blog and they make the
perfect stocking stuffers or small gifts.
They keep cold drinks cold for 12 hours and hot drinks hot for 6 hours
and they hold up so well through the years.
They come in countless colors and characters and they now have the new
Frozen 2 version available on sale for a limited time.
16 // Kinetic Sand – this is another product I’ve raved about on the blog plenty of
times. This is something the kids can play
with inside the house and it keeps our kids busy for hours.
17 // Hoppity Hop – this one probably needs no explanation… it’s the perfect way for your
kids to bounce out their sillies indoors on a rainy day.
18 // Lincoln Logs – these have
been a favorite for decades, and Jacob just asked for some this Christmas. I thought it was so random, but then I remembered
how much I loved them and it made perfect sense. They’re offering a 100th Anniversary Tin
right now and it comes with everything your child needs for their creations.
19 // Flybar – I
mentioned these last year in my gift guide because they are perfect for indoor
use and helping your kids burn energy/get exercise when it’s too rainy or cold
to go outside. Both of our kids got
these last Christmas and they both still use them. They hold up to 250 lbs. so moms and dads,
you can bounce, too! ;o)
I’m trying to
finish up the bulk of my shopping before December
this year. That way I can leave the
whole month of December open for the important things in life… like snuggling
up and watching Christmas movies with my babies! I want more time to just slow down and savor
the season this year without having nine million to-dos floating around in my
head.
Cheers to
getting it all done early! And stay tuned tomorrow for my gift guide for the babies. :o)

It's always great to get ideas for different gifts. Gift guides take a lot of work so I usually don't do them, but like seeing everyone else's lol. Ok, so how about I never knew the floor is lava was actually a game. My kids are always saying, the floor is lava in 3, 2, 1! And then we all run for the couch or stand on a chair. I kind of thought they made it up haha. We have those cars and they love scooting around on them.
