After the kiddos went to
bed, B and I watched a couple more episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale. Goodness gracious, I can’t stop
watching. I do believe I could easily
sit and watch an entire season all in one sitting if I had the time. I’m so excited that season three is coming
out in just a few weeks so we won’t have to wait too long for it after
finishing season two.
Saturday morning B and I
headed outside early to get started on cleaning off the back porch. Every spring and fall we remove every single
item including all of the furniture and we spray and scrub everything down to
make it nice and shiny for the upcoming season. Last fall when we did that we found tons of
black widow spiders in all of the patio furniture, and unfortunately, it was
much of the same this time. Fortunately,
there weren’t near as many as last time, but I was still mad that they were
back. Since we had so many again, B did
a little bit of research online and he was able to find some stuff that he can
put down out there that will hopefully get rid of them once and for all. He put it down Saturday so fingers crossed we’re
done with them.
We had to stop halfway
through our cleaning to head to the soccer fields for Jacob’s game. They lost again, 5-1. Technically they don’t even keep score at
this age, but B and I always do.
Haha. They’ve had a rough season,
but it was expected since our team is so young and little this time.
After soccer, we stopped by
Chick-Fil-A for lunch, and then it was back home to finish cleaning off the
porch. We got everything completely
swept off, hosed down, and put back in place.
No more cobwebs, no more dirt, AND NO MORE POLLEN! Although, it’s been so thick this year we
probably already have a new layer of it out there as we speak. Ugggghhhh.
While I finished getting
everything back on the porch, B started hanging some new shelving in our
outdoor closet so we can keep all of our outdoor Christmas decorations in a
better spot and keep the floor of the closet from being so cluttered.
By the time we finished, it
was time to get ready for mass. It was
Palm Sunday, so we got our palms, and as I have since I was a little kid, I folded
each of ours into the shapes of crosses.
The kids are always so impressed when I do this, and I hope to be able
to teach them to do their own in a few more years.
After church, we headed to
our favorite Mexican place in town. It had
been several weeks since we’d had tacos and margs so it was long overdue. My whole extended family decided to join us –
my momma and daddy, brother and his fam, grandmother, and several aunts and
uncles – so we had a huge crowd. My
niece, Chyler, was all smiles and she was charming all of us all evening. Olivia is just enamored with her, so she
spent a lot of time kissing her little head and hugging her and cooing at
her. It was just the sweetest thing.
We stopped by DQ on the way
home for Blizzards because we’re creatures of habit (but mostly because we love
our DQ!) and then it was back home to get the kids in the bed and watch more of
The Handmaids Tale.
Sunday morning we were
awakened earlier than usual by weather alerts on our phones. We knew there was a chance for severe weather
and tornadoes so I had mentally prepared myself the evening before. We got up pretty quickly, prepared our safe
place, and then ate breakfast earlier than usual so we’d be ready in case we
had to hide out in the closet. Around 9
things started picking up and the tornado sirens went off at our house, but the meteorologist on our
local station said that it was for rotation just west of our viewing area. Whew. Fortunately,
the storms blew through quickly and all we had at our house was a ton of rain
and some strong winds. I was so thankful
that it was quick and waaaay less stressful this time.
By noon it had all blown
past us, so we were able to head out for some lunch and errands. My MIL and step-FIL didn’t cook Sunday so we
grabbed some burgers at Five Guys and then we ran to Lowe’s to grab some
flowers and plants and some Snake Away since we had a four foot long visitor in
our back yard earlier this week. If you
missed my Instagram Stories, just be glad, because you wouldn’t have wanted to
see it anyway. Gaaaahhhh. It was disgusting and I never want to set
foot outside again.
Jacob had an outdoor
birthday party to attend at 2, so he and I headed to the park for that in the
afternoon. The party was a Nerf themed
party, so all of the kids brought their own Nerf guns and battled each
other. After battle, there was cake and
other snacks, and then they all did a few indoor activities and then some more
outdoor battles. I hung out and chatted
with the other moms and dads while the kiddos played, and then it was time to
head back home when the party was over.
The rest of the afternoon
was spent playing out in the back yard (it turned out to be a gorgeous day after that bad weather!) and preparing for Monday, and then we had Sunday dinner
at my parents’ house with the whole fam.
B was super stoked about Game of Thrones, so we (and by we I mean him – haha – I just sat with him and scrolled through IG) stayed up
watching that Sunday evening and then it was time for bed!
Happy Monday, y’all! I have my stress test at the cardiologist all
day today, so please say a quick prayer that the results are normal and
healthy!

What a fantastic weekend! The weather here yesterday was much like yours...heavy wind and rain! But luckily nothing else!
ReplyDeleteYou need to share how you make a cross with your palm - I want to learn! So glad the severe weather stayed away from you all. And that the day turned beautiful after the storms! Good luck today!

ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about you today. Hope all the test go well. Still loving those pots full of herbs!
ReplyDeleteWe had that weather go through Saturday night and it was so scary, glad y'all were safe! Tacos and Margs sound great! Hope your test goes well!
ReplyDeletePraying all goes perfect for you at the cardiologist appointment.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Everything went great and I have a perfectly healthy heart!
DeleteSending positive thoughts for your appointment tomorrow. We clean off our whole patio each fall and spring too but usually have to wash everything down a few times as both the nice weather and pollen tend to arrive at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWe have that problem, too! I think last year we had to wash the porch off at least two times but this year we had so much rain and chilly weather that we couldn't enjoy it as early as usual anyway. Ours is already starting to collect pollen again, though. Boooo. And thank you! My appointment went very well! Healthy heart! Woo hoo!
DeleteSounds like a fun, busy weekend! We had a tornado warning late Sunday night and our weather man said the same thing... no reason to worry/false alarm. Hope your test went well!
ReplyDeleteSo crazy! I'm glad yours was a false alarm, too! And thank you! It went great! My heart is perfectly healthy!
DeleteGlad y'all had a good weekend and NO bad weather! We had a cold weekend, it was in the 40's and rainy. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteHope your stress test went well, sending prayers!
A clean porch must feel amazing! Mexican is always a good idea. A Nerf party sounds like fun! I bet those kids got some energy out. Although, mine seem to have even more of it the older they get and don't nap as much. I wish I could have some of what they got lol.
