Well, we made it through Hurricane Michael and came out completely unscathed. Thankfully for us, the eye wall ended up hitting just slightly south of us so we didn’t get the worst of it as originally predicted. We just had a lot of rain and some high winds and that was about it. There were lots of power outages in our area as well as some downed trees and minor damage that comes along with those things, but all in all, our city was very lucky… and we were one of the lucky houses to not lose power at all. Whew.

Anyway, it’s Friday even
though it feels like Monday (since the kids have been home for a couple of days),
so I’m all turned around and way behind on life stuff, but who cares because the
weekend is here!
Now for some favorites from
the week!
O N E – Hurricane Michael
The kids were released from
school and B was told to leave work early on Wednesday since our city asked
everyone to be off the streets by 3 PM, so we ended up having a nice, long
afternoon and evening at home. It rained
off and on all day so the kids started to get a little antsy after dinner. By then the rain and wind had started picking
up, but conditions weren’t remotely dangerous just yet, so we let the kids put
on their rain boots and some jackets and head out to splash around for a bit. And they ended up having a blast!
B and I had poured a couple
of glasses of wine earlier in the afternoon and several of my friends here in
town had decided to ride out the storm the same way because they kept sending
pictures to me to toast. Hey, when you
can’t leave the house and need something to calm your nerves – WINE. Haha.
The worst of the storm hit
here from around 10 PM to 12 AM and while the wind sounded pretty scary at
times, we never felt unsafe, which I was very thankful for. We’re just glad it’s over and now we’re
looking forward to the one good thing that came from Hurricane Michael (and the
reason that this is a favorite from the week) – SOME ACTUAL REAL FALL TEMPS FOR
THE NEXT TEN DAYS!!!! PRAISE!
T W O – Panama
City Beach , FL
Speaking of Hurricane
Michael, one of our very favorite places took a direct hit, and it’s made me so
sad seeing the footage coming out of there.
I took a moment Wednesday afternoon to reflect on our time there in Panama City and the rest
of 30A and I wrote this post. Lots of
sweet, sweet memories and lots of old pictures are over in the post if you
missed it.
And after reading some of
the comments that I already received on the post, it made me realize that you
lovely readers never got to see Jacob as a baby since I didn’t blog back
then. There are several pictures of baby
Jacob in the post and, gosh, he was just so darn cute. And HUGE!
Haha.

T H R E E – Mountain Trip
Earlier this week before all
of the chaos, I had a chance to recap part one of our mountain trip. You can see it here if you missed it, and the
By the Numbers post is here in case you missed that. :o)
F O U R – Planner
I’m still slowly working my
way through getting my new Simplified Planner set up for 2019 and the more I
use it, the more I love it. It is a
whole new world having an entire page for each day and I am so ready to start
using this baby on a daily basis!! Until
then I’ll just be over here using an old-school notepad for my to-do
lists. Sigh.
F I V E – To Do Lists
And speaking of to-do lists,
have you been following along with me on Instagram stories? I’ve
been posting my daily to-do lists Monday through Friday and then checking
everything off that I’ve accomplished at the end of the day. I’ve found that by posting these lists
everyday I’ve been getting every single thing on the lists done almost every
single day because putting them out there for everyone to see really holds me
accountable. I’m a very self-motivated
person anyway, but like anyone else, I sometimes need that extra push to get
certain things done. Here are a few of the lists from this past
week and you can follow along here if you want to follow along daily!
Happy
weekend, y’all!

I am a huge list person- my short-term memory is terrible and making lists help a lot. The footage out of Florida is awful.
ReplyDeleteMy short-term memory is terrible, too. I swear, sometimes I will be trying to remember something to put on my list and I forget before I can ever even write it down. Lol.
DeleteI love your lists! I need to get back to list making, since my mind is all over the place these days. And glad that you all stayed safe!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were ok with the hurricane. I haven't seen a lot of the coverage purposely, it scares me! I love your to do lists! I should really start doing that too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you guys are good. I love your to do lists everyday. Makes me realize how much I do everyday as well even though i do not write it down. And yes baby Jacob is adorable. I am so sad about 30a and panama city. hoping they rebuild better than ever.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're all ok with the storm. It's so sad seeing all of the devastation and brings me back to all the feelings of hurricane Sandy that hit the shores here really hard. You have been crushing your lists! I hope you have a great weekend. Sierra Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that y'all are ok!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you guys missed most of the storm. I have seen the devastation in FL and it is awful.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you and your loved ones are safe from the hurricane! Side note your daily to do lists on insta are my favorite! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI'm glad y'all were safe and sound! And yea for fall temperatures!
ReplyDeleteI always love your lists on instagram. They are the only way to get it all done! I am so glad the hurricane missed y'all. Wine is always in the hurricane prep cart in these parts! Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you guys made it through safely! It's hard to watch the footage of some of those areas completely devastated. So sad. Some of the stories I've read of people who stayed to ride it out and now they are looking for them is just heartbreaking. I remember that happening when Hurricane Ike hit Galveston.
ReplyDeleteI'm a girl of many lists, too! I'm glad that you guys survived Michael!
ReplyDeleteI always love your to do lists - I have one every day and love crossing things off - I'd be lost without it!
