This weekend was a great one and we’re rolling into the new week prepared, relaxed, and refreshed! Doesn’t that always feel great?!
Friday I had a BOSS day and I managed to cross all kinds of stuff off of my to do list that's been on there forever. One of the items I crossed off had literally been on my to do list for at least three years. I kid you not. I had lunch with my old supervisor and another one of my old coworkers, and then I ran loads of errands before picking up the kids.
Friday evening my bro, sis-in-law, and nephew came into town (it’s so wonderful having them close again!) and we all headed downtown with my parents for dinner at our favorite local BBQ place and then to the outdoor concert. Our city does a free outdoor concert every Friday evening during the fall and spring, and it was great to be back out there again! Jacob, Olivia, and Tucker all got to run wild and we all hung around listening to the band play for a bit before taking a walk down the main street downtown to get some ice cream. Olivia prefers frozen yogurt to ice cream so we made a little pit stop for her at the fro-yo place before getting ice cream for the rest of us. I used to feel the same way, but ever since I tried the s’mores ice cream at the ice cream place, I can’t NOT get it. It’s so good!

After the kiddos went to bed
B and I poured some beers (we’re still working our way through the 40 that I
bought for him for his 40th birthday) and we watched the series finale of
Scandal. I have to say, I thought it was
okay. SPOILER ALERT: I was pretty
pleased overall with the way it ended (hello, Fitz and Olivia saying, “Hi” to
each other at the end) but I was also mad at who they killed off. I mean, honestly. I also thought it was a bit too rushed as it
was only an hour long. It seems like it
should have been two hours. But anyway…
Saturday Jacob had a soccer
game at noon and they ended up winning 7-4.
Jacob almost scored goals twice, but both times the ball got kicked out
right at the last minute. Y'all, I want this boy to get his first goal SO BAD but it's just not happening yet.
After the soccer game it was
home for lunch and then I spent a couple of hours laying out in the sun in the
back yard and reading my new book. It’s
been a long time since I’ve done that and it felt great! What is it about getting a tan that makes you
feel so darn vibrant?! I know you’re
actually harming your body by being in the sun, but it sure is an instant mood
booster!
The G-Day Game (University of Georgia spring scrimmage game) was on at
4 so we didn’t go to church, and instead we spent the rest of the afternoon
watching that on TV and I worked my way through the majority of the kitchen
cabinets purging, moving things around, and reorganizing. I got SO much accomplished, y’all, and I’m
planning on sharing a major decluttering update on Friday this week! Stay tuned!
After the G-Day Game was
over, we headed out for Mex because we could literally eat it every week. We can always count on our kids to eat well there. Always.
As a matter of fact, Olivia loves it so much that she put the chips
basket in her lap and didn’t want to share.
Lol. And then since I took her
picture, Jacob wanted his taken as well.

When we got home, we all
lounged on the back porch for a bit while the kiddos ate some of their rock
candy that we brought home from Disney.
Disney is just the gift that keeps on giving. ;o)
After the kiddos were in bed,
B and I watched the movie Downsizing. I
thought it was good, but not at all what I expected. I guess I had pictured it to be more of a
comedy/feel good movie, but it ended up being more of a drama. The first half of the movie was about as
expected, but then the second half of the movie took a WEIRD left turn, so it
was just kind of strange. I think the
trailers for the movie were very misleading.
Sunday morning I spent the
entire morning cleaning out more of the kitchen and I got rid of so. much. stuff. I cannot wait to update you guys on Friday,
but in the meantime, I’ll leave you with this little gem…
The kids’ art drawer BEFORE:
And AFTER:
All. The.
Heart. Eyes.
I bought several different
sets of these bins on Amazon and they could not be more perfect. I love them because they are simple, no
frills, and DIRT CHEAP and I’m about to use them in every drawer in the
house. I kid you not! And FYI, you can also buy them in several different combinations of sizes on Amazon. Check these out if you're interested: 9 narrow rectangle baskets, 6 wide rectangle baskets, or 6 small squares. You can mix and match in any combinations to suit your needs for whatever drawers you're organizing. I'm about to organize our junk drawers when the rest of them deliver tomorrow!
Sunday around noon we
started heading to my MIL and step-FIL’s house for lunch as we always do, but
we decided to stop by our Publix down the street to pick up a prescription and
drop off some recycling. Just as I was
getting back in the car, I heard a horrible screech of brakes and I looked up
just in time to see a car swerving off the main road, tumbling down the hill,
and landing on its side on top of two cars in the Publix parking lot with a
sickening crunch of metal. I stared in
shock for a couple of seconds and then my adrenaline kicked into high
gear. I grabbed my phone and called 911
and reported all of the details to dispatch.
We were on the other side of the parking lot, so by the time I had jumped
out of the car about 20 people who were close by were already running to the
scene to try to get the people out. A
police car arrived within 30 seconds so it must have already been close and
then medical were not too far behind.
Since there were so many
people helping we didn’t want to be in the way, and we also didn’t want the
kids to see something horrific, so we went ahead and left after that, but I couldn’t
stop thinking about it. We had no clue
at that point how many people were in the car, and if they were even okay. That was the first time I’ve ever seen an
accident happen so I was pretty upset, and I didn’t stop shaking for a good
hour after we left.
My mom always shops at that
same Publix on Sundays right around the time that we were there so I texted her
immediately to tell her what had happened and to hold off from going since they
had the whole road blocked. She ended up
going a couple of hours after the wreck happened and she said that the cashier
at Publix told her that there was just one lady in the car and that she was
okay. I’m assuming that means that
nobody was in the other two cars either.
I cannot even tell you how relieved I was to get that text from my
mom. I had been stalking the local news
on Facebook for updates and it had not yet been reported, so I was really happy
to have some closure. Whew.
After that whole ordeal we
had lunch as we always do and we got to spend a lot of time outside, which was
a treat, as it was supposed to have rained all day. The rain ended up coming in late in the
afternoon and it’s been raining ever since, though. :o( Ah well, more opportunities to wear my beloved boots!
Sunday evening we had dinner
at my parents’ house with the usual crew, and it was a wonderful ending to a
wonderful weekend, aside from the wreck, of course. At least that had a happy ending, though!
I hope you all have a lovely
Monday!

I felt the same way about the finale - I thought it should have been two hours and I couldn't believe who they killed off. I do love that it ended the way we always hoped it would!! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThat gave me chills about the wreck! Having observed one and been in one myself, it can definitely send your adrenaline over the edge for a good bit!
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, I absolutely adore you and Olivia in your "blue" outfits with the tassels and pink necklace!
- Shannon @slayitagainshan.com
Oh no! I'm so sorry you've experienced that firsthand. I can't imagine how scary it must be to be in one.
DeleteAnd thank you so much! She wanted to match so she asked me to wear a pink necklace since her dress had pink! Sweet girl!
I can't believe you witnessed that accident!! I just witnessed my first one about a month ago, I watched a car drive straight off the road and hit a tree - it was crazy but the driver was ok thank god! Jacob will score a goal soon, I'm sure!!
ReplyDeleteHow scary that accident must have been. Outdoor concerts are so fun. Loving you blue bow top sandals. Sending Jacob strong goal vibes!!
ReplyDeleteAn outdoor concert so cool. So scary about the accident! I love your new bow sandal flats, so cute and pop with your cute nail polish!!! xoxo ERIN
ReplyDeleteOutdoor concerts are THE BEST!!! Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the finale. It was just ok for me. But I'm super glad about Olivia and Fitz.
ReplyDeleteOutdoor concerts are the most fun part of summer (or spring for you :) )
ReplyDeleteLove those pink hunter boots!
Yes they are! We love going each week! And thank you. I love them so much!
DeleteSo glad everyone was okay. I ordered some of those little bins for some drawer organizing this week.
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope you like them! I just love that they're so simple! I don't need anything elaborate or fancy for organizing drawers!
DeleteWhat a great weekend you had! But such a scary accident. Glad to hear that everyone was ok though!
ReplyDeleteOh wow what a scary accident. Glad to hear everyone was ok. I would have been quite shaken up. Love your pink hunter boots.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are so stinking adorable! Nice job on the drawer organization, it looks great! I need to watch the newest season of Scandal still.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that about Scandal, Mr. and I were totally into it, and then it sort of got boring, so we stopped watching a couple of seasons ago. Looks like a great weekend, besides the car accident. I can't believe you had never seen one before, that's pretty impressive. Hopefully you never see one again. It's always so awful seeing it happen and not being able to do anything about it.
ReplyDeleteI would say it was a pretty good weekend. I am so happy that your nephew moved back. That is sooo scary about the car accident. I can't believe it was that close to you. I hope everyone was ok.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - that would be SO scary. I don't think I have ever seen one in progress but I can imagine how unsettling that would be. I am glad you got some closure. On the other hand - yay for getting to see your brother and his family on Friday. I know how awesome that must have felt and I am so excited that you have many more of those nights in your future!
ReplyDeleteAh, thank goodness everyone was OK from that crash! That sound is horrifying.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, your weekend sounded so nice. The town we're moving to (hopefully in a month!) does weekly outdoor concerts too and I'm hoping we take advantage of them this summer. And THANK YOU for writing spoiler by your Scandal review hahaha I had to skip right over that since I need to binge this last season immediately. Also, I love your bow slides. So cute!
An outdoor concert is the perfect spring activity! Love all your outdoor time... it looks like spring may finally really be hitting here this week and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that your town has outdoor concerts and that ice cream looks amazing. I'm so sorry you had to witness an accident; we've had a few near misses that have set my heart to racing and I can not imagine actually seeing one first hand.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a blast! And yes, it was scary. I shook for a good hour or two after it was over. I was just so thankful to hear that the lady was okay.
DeleteOutdoor concerts and ice cream sound like the perfect way to kick off spring!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! I love outdoor concerts!
ReplyDeleteSo scary about the accident! Glad the lady was ok!
That's amazing that your nephew is close by!!!
ReplyDeleteI love days where you can cross things off your list! What a fun weekend and that is so exciting about having your family closer. Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI love outdoor concerts like that! We have one on Wednesdays here, which we did Friday! So glad you have your nephew close by now, cousin fun is the best. How scary about that accident! Glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that accident!! I can't imagine what that felt like seeing it happen. Scary. Glad you linked the little bins...I typically buy these at our dollar tree but I think this price is even better!
