The Weekend – All I Want for My Anniversary is an SEC Championship

Hello hello and a happy Monday to you!  We are still on a high from our big win this weekend… for our ten year anniversary, our Dawgs brought home an SEC Championship and it feels so good!

But let’s back up and recap from the beginning, shall we?

Our recap begins Thursday evening when we took the kids to Brian’s company’s annual tree lighting.  Unfortunately it ended up raining that evening but that didn’t stop them from having the party.  Everything was moved indoors, so we didn’t really do an official tree lighting, but Santa Clause was there along with a bunch of super heroes and princesses.  This was the first year they did that and the kids loved it!  It was jam packed inside, but the kids had fun and that is, of course, what matters the most!  The rain did stop long enough for us to snap a picture with the tree, though!

Friday was Brian’s and my ten year anniversary, and in honor of our day, he took the day off so we could spend it together.  We always try to have a couple of “Brian and Lindsay’s Days O Fun” together each year, and this was our first.

We started the day with a little Starbucks treat and breakfast at Panera followed by Christmas shopping for the kiddos at Target.  We managed to buy aaaallll the stocking stuffers and we picked up a few other things as well.  We followed that trip with a quick stop at Walmart and then lunch at Chipotle because it had been far too long!

We swung by Toys R Us after that to grab a couple more gifts, and then it was off to the movies to see Daddy’s Home 2.  Y’all.  We both laughed so hard at this movie!!  We loved the first one but I think the second one was even better!  I don’t say that very often either.

After the movie we headed home for a couple of hours to get all of the gifts for the kids hidden and to exchange gifts for our anniversary.  For our ten year anniversary, Brian got me… my very first little blue box!!  We pretty much stop in Tiffany’s any time we’re in Vegas, NYC, or any other big city, so it was an extra special treat to receive a gift from there.  I typically wear a lot of costume jewelry, but I love having a few nice pieces to wear as well.  Oh, and I totally blame the movie Sweet Home Alabama as well as aaaallll the wedding magazines I used to buy when I was in my early twenties for my obsession with Tiffany’s.  ;o)

Oh, and he also got a Keurig for me!!  I can finally make coffee at home, you guys!!  I’ve already started creating a little coffee station in our kitchen and I could not be more excited.  I’ll share it soon!

After we exchanged gifts, we headed to the UPS store and the bank before grabbing Jacob and Olivia from school.  One of our friends sent this picture to me of Jacob and one of his friends at school... the school let the kids come dressed in Georgia or Auburn gear for the big game (they usually wear uniforms) and one of the teachers snapped a picture of two of the littlest Georgia fans... we gotta stick together you know!

We headed downtown and had dinner and drinks at our favorite brewery and then we met up with my friend Katie and her two babies to watch the Christmas parade and tree lighting downtown.  The evening was filled with lots of music, Christmas lights, and Christmas cheer and the kids all had a blast!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for Breakfast with Santa at our church.  The kiddos had been talking about it forever and they were really excited that the day had finally come.  We arrived right at 9 and got straight in line for Santa.  The wait was short and the kiddos walked right up to him and chatted his ears off the whole time they were with him.  Success!

After seeing Santa, we had a yummy breakfast of pancakes and sausage and fruit, and then it was off to do arts and crafts and get their faces painted.  Jacob opted for a Santa Clause face and Olivia wanted to be a cat.  Girlfriend is obsessed with cats all of a sudden!  Unfortunately my allergies are at it again (my allergist says it’s likely because we still haven’t had a hard freeze so all of the outdoor stuff is still prevalent) and my head has been incredibly stuffed up for the last week or so, along with the runny nose and coughing.  It was pretty loud in the venue for Breakfast with Santa and I had a raging headache already, so by the time we left I felt like poo.

I was supposed to attend a baby shower at lunchtime, but I felt so awful I just decided to stay home, take some meds, and rest.  I almost went to acute care for a steroid shot, but our new insurance with Brian’s company just started Friday and we don’t yet have insurance cards so I wasn’t sure how all of that would have worked.  Plus, I really didn’t want to expose myself to other germs.

The SEC Championship game was at 4 and since I hadn’t been feeling well, we just decided to stay home and watch it, just the four of us.  We had originally wanted to go to the game, but the tickets were outrageous this year, so we watched in the comfort of home this time.

The game was a nail biter for the first half and after the first quarter I literally couldn’t watch anymore, so I started getting White Chicken Chili on the stove for dinner while B gave me the play by play.  And I swear after I got up and stopped watching, we started playing better!!

We ended up whooping Auburn 28-7 and it felt SO good after losing to them two weeks ago at their stadium.  We may have lost the first one, but we won the game that mattered, and now we have an SEC Championship and are advancing to the playoff game!!  I can hardly believe it!  #GoDawgs

Sunday we had lunch at my MIL and step-FIL’s and we celebrated my nephew’s birthday and then we spent lots of time outside because the weather was in the seventies.  Not exactly the kind of weather we want this time of year, though… I mean, can we please get a good hard freeze so I can stop feeling like I have cotton in my ears?!

Sunday evening was spent having dinner at my parents’ house.  They didn’t cook last weekend so it was nice to be back in our usual routine with our usual peeps.  My mom had decked the house in Christmas decor and she did a completely new mantle this year which I LOVE.  Look at those gorgeous angels!

Oh, and also, our kids were absolutely INSANE yesterday... anybody else?!  Incessant whining, arguing, fighting, tantrums... it was crazy.  Until I walked out of my parents house Sunday night and saw this:

A super moon.  #TheFullMoonAlwaysExplainsIt

Somebody please tell me that your kids are crazy before a full moon!  Tell me we're not alone!

Well, I hope everyone has a great day today!  Me?  Well, I’ll be in jury duty.  Womp womp.  But our Dawgs brought home the championship this weekend so I'm still a happy lady!!  WOOT!  Happy Monday!

  5. My sister actually texted me last night to tell me to look at the moon. And I could not see it. Later that night I eventually saw it but I didn't think it was anything too special. She told me it looked like it was glowing earlier. I missed that. Cute stockings!

  13. Wowza! What a phenomenal weekend you had! Tiffany's, a Keurig, a huge college football win, time with your hubby! Just awesome! Oh and girl - that full moon and all it brought along with it was something fierce! Henry and Eliza usually get along quite well most of the time, but I can't tell you how many times I had to use my "mom voice."

  21. What a fun office party. It's nice they really catered to the kids with the costumed characters. Your Day O Fun sounds wonderful too. I always say my Keurig machine was the best Christmas present I've ever received. Thanks for linking!

  23. Congrats on the football win! I'm so mad at football right now (as are most of the Michigan State fans). We beat UofM, have a better record than UofM, and yet they still go to a better bowl game (they are going to the Outback Bowl, a New Years Day game, while we are going to the Holiday Bowl on the 28th). Oh..... and MSU ranked, UofM? Unranked..... ugh!
Ok, sorry for that rant.... I'm glad your team is doing well! And it looks like you had a fun weeekend!

    1. Yeah, we've been following along with all of the craziness! It's honestly a bunch of crap the way they decide who gets to go where because it's basically just somebody's opinion. Most of the time they hate on Georgia, so we're used to getting the shaft, too! Sorry you guys got screwed. :o(
