My phone is basically an extension of my arm. I’m sure yours probably is, too, right? I carry mine everywhere with me. Literally everywhere. If my phone is in a different room than I am, then there must be some pretty unusual circumstances afoot. Today I thought it would be fun to join in on Andrea's prompt to let you in on the single most important material possession that I own. You know how everyone always loves the Day in the Life posts where you can take a peek into someone’s daily activities? Well, this is kind of like that, but I’m going to let you take a peek at my phone!
As you can
see, my lock screen has a picture of three of my favorite things – Jacob,
Olivia, and Georgia Bulldogs! The only
things that are missing are Brian and Maui.
;o) This picture is almost a year
old, though, so it’s about time to update it!
When I unlock
my phone, this is what I see:
All of my most used apps are right there on my main screen. I won’t bore you with details from all of the apps, but I will highlight a few of my faves:
Top Row – All Standard Phone Things
Calendar
Clock
Settings
Utilities Folder
– contacts, calculator, compass, voice memos, reminders, notes, etc… none of
which I ever use… well, except for the calculator… anybody else ever struggle
to do the math for restaurant tipping in their heads? Especially after cocktails?
Second Row – Photography Apps &
Blogging Folder
Camera
Photos
Photo Editing Folder – All of my favorite photo editing
apps are in this folder (more on that below).
Blogging Folder – Blogger, Google+ and Bloglovin
As promised,
here are a few of my favorite photo editing apps…
Watermark Pro – This is the app I use to watermark
all of my pictures before posting to Instagram.
It’s free and so easy to use!
A Beautiful Mess – This is the app that I use to create
basic text or graphics, mostly for Insta-stories.
Blur Effect – This is used to blur out anything that
needs to be blurred before posting pictures.
Layout – This app makes great collages! I use these for my Follow Friday collages on
Instagram, which I haven’t participated in in forever.
There are
also several others that I rarely use that I probably need to just delete.
Third Row – Miscellaneous Apps
List Master – THE BEST app for list making, you
guys. I cannot stress this enough!! I’ve been using it for years and I don’t know
what I would do without it. One day I plan
to do an entire post on just this app because it has kept my life so
organized. I don’t use it like a daily
planner, though. I have my Erin Condren
planner for that. List Master is just
used to hold my permanent lists – grocery lists, wish lists, gift idea lists,
and so on.
Would you
like to take a peek inside one of the lists?
I know you doooo!
The list that
I use the most inside this app is my Publix grocery shopping list. I have every single grocery item that we ever
purchase listed in order by aisle. As
you can see in the picture below, all items are currently checked off since I
just went grocery shopping yesterday morning.
Over the next couple of weeks, when I discover that I’m out of something
I will uncheck the box so it will show as a needed item the next time I’m at
the store. Then the next time I’m at the
store getting the things that we need, I will check them off again. It makes grocery shopping a complete
breeze. Oh, it’s fantastic! Like I said, sometime I will let you in on
the rest of this app if I ever get the chance to do the post! You can see more about it in this post here... it's one of my very earliest posts!
A couple more
things about List Master – you do have to pay for it, but it was worth every
single penny. And also, you can back it
up any time and have the entire data base emailed to you so you never have to
worry about losing your lists if your phone crashes or gets lost. :o) Winning,
I toldja!
Now back to
rest of the apps in the third row…
Weather – I use it to see the ten day
forecast
MyRadar – This is pretty much the best thing
ever… especially this year since we’ve been having so much rain. I love being able to see the live radar any
time I need to. It helps me plan my
lunch breaks and errand running around storms.
Trust me, I’m always the first to know when it’s going to rain. My coworkers all know to ask me what the
weather is going to be like when we leave each day so they know what to expect
on the drive home. Ha!
Email – this is the final thing in the third
row, and as you can see, I’m very behind on my emails right now. I blame the crazy weekend we had this past
weekend. I do have two email accounts…
one for the blog and one for personal use, and fortunately, these two are combined
right here so it’s not as bad as it looks.
Fourth Row – All Things Instagram
Instagram – You can find me here!
Messenger – I use this for my Instagram pods
UNUM – I use this to help me keep my
Instagram feed looking lovely
Followers – This is my favorite app to see who
follows and unfollows me on there – so annoying.
Fifth Row – Other Social Media
Facebook
Twitter
Pinterest
Snapchat – Which I never use! Ha!
Sixth Row – More Miscellaneous Apps
Timehop – I love to check this daily and cry
when pictures of 6 months old Jacob and Olivia pop up.
LIKEtoKNOW.it – I was just accepted into the
program and haven’t yet learned how to use it, but I’m hoping to start in the
coming weeks.
The kids’ school app – This has been blurred for privacy
reasons. #Duh
Another app – this has also been blurred because I
will be discussing it in great detail on the blog really soon and I don’t want
to ruin the surprise… I can’t wait to
share it with you, though!
Bottom Row – Commonly Use Apps
Phone
Text Messages
Safari – This is the iPhone’s app for accessing
the internet.
Music – My phone is just bursting with all the
good stuff! Every single song that I own
is right here on my phone. Years ago
when I bought my current SUV and my first smart phone, I took the time to rip every
single CD that I owned so I could put all of the music in my iTunes library. The iTunes library on my computer syncs right
up with my phone, so that means that I am able to have every single song right
at my fingertips any time and I can also play them in the car. Woo hoo!
I think that’s my favorite thing about smart phones. Remember the days of making mixed tapes and
mixed CDs and lugging around those giant leather CD storage books? Those days are over and I’m so glad about
it. I love just being able to tell Siri,
“Play Ed Sheeran” and all of my Ed Sheeran songs start shuffling or “Play my
dinner party mix” and all of my cozy, jazzy songs start playing.
Wanna see what I'm listening to right now? Steve Tyrell is one of my all-time favorites! He's the guy that sings the songs in Father of the Bride Part II... one of my favorite movies EVER.
That’s about
it, y’all! I do have more apps on the
second page, but they’re all old/boring/not worth sharing, so we’ll leave it at
that. There are also a few apps that we
used to let Jacob use when he was a baby, but he has long outgrown them. Waaaahhhh.

So what are
some of your favorite must-haves on your phone?

I can't wait to hear more about this list master app! Having a grocery list like that sounds so handy!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm really interested in your apps for pictures. Watermark Pro sounds pretty awesome! And I'm not surprised that we both mentioned Ed Sheeran today. :D
ReplyDeleteOh neat! Thanks for sharing the photo apps- I will look to see if they are on android.
ReplyDeleteI NEED list master!! I put so many random lists in my notes app, no more!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I wrote down a few apps to download!
ReplyDeleteWow, there are a log of apps that I need to look into! Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! If you do check any of them out, check out List Master!! It's so amazing!
DeleteSo I got stuck on a beautiful mess. You don't edit your Instastories with the instastory stuff/app? What is the advantage of this app? Tell me more, lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm saving this so I can download some of those photo editing apps! they sound so easy to use and I would have never heard of them!
ReplyDeleteSarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
Ok this was fun to peak inside and I learned about lots of new apps you use for Instagram! Thanks for the helpful tips :) I am going to pin this for later too! xoxo ERIN
ReplyDeleteI love how organized your apps are! A gal after my own heart!
ReplyDeleteYep! It sure is. My iPhone holds all the things and I would be lost without it. I love to see what other people have on their phones. Finding new apps is so fun! I’m always most curious what photo editing apps people use and how they use them. You don’t use the notes in your phone? I probably use it more than anything. Anytime I need to remember something for the blog I put it there…or important milestones…or all of my hashtags I can copy & paste into my Instagram pictures…or scripture or quotes...blog post ideas...tracking my month in numbers, etc. I use it for everything!
ReplyDeleteI've just recently starting using my Podcast app but now I'm addicted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I got annoyed at my followers app so I'm going to try the one you use instead! The list app looks awesome too.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check out the List Master app! I hate the one on my phone right now!
ReplyDeleteI hated the one on my phone, too!! List Master is a game changer!
DeleteOh my goodness I now have so many apps I want to download! I barely have any aside from the basics so I can't wait to check these out!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what is on other peoples phones. My hubby and I used to use AnyList, which was awesome because it was a shared list, so either one of us wanted to add something to the list we could add and the other person would see, so the next time we were at the store we could get. We just recently, since Amazon Prime Day, upgraded to the Amazon Lists, which is awesome because we can tell Alexa, add such and such to the list and she will and we don't have to go track down our phone..which in my case is NEVER in the same room as me! I am going to go download some of those photography apps, especially the blur one! Thanks for giving us a peek. I totally would have done this had I seen the prompt, for some reason when I was writing down all the prompts, I guess I figured I didn't want to do this one because I didn't write it down...strange.
ReplyDeleteI am unlocking my phone right now to download that List app!!! I have sticky notes e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e and that will come in super huge handy!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you will LOVE it. It is fantastic! Well worth the money!
