A Perfectly Stocked Bar Cart

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Well, it’s finally here, you guys!  I’ve only been talking about it for three months!  Ha!

The bar cart is finally stocked and getting plenty of use, might I add.

When shopping for a bar cart, I knew that I wanted something rectangular in shape with two shelves, and preferably with an open front as opposed to the rails going around all four edges.  I finally found a cart that fit the bill at our local At Home store.  However, you may remember that it was chrome when I first bought it, and I just wasn’t sure that I loved the chrome.  I was on the fence for weeks about whether or not to paint it white, and the majority of you said not to, but after lots of thought and several weeks of having it sitting in the kitchen, I just wasn’t feeling the chrome.

I loved how shiny it was, but for some reason, it blended in with the wall and got lost, and I wanted it to stand out.  After a couple of coats of spray paint primer, a few coats of white spray paint, and two coats of a protective gloss top coat, it’s finally finished!  Isn’t it a beauty?

I was so close to returning it altogether a couple of times because I really didn't want to have to worry about painting it, but I'm so glad I decided to keep it.  A couple of others on my radar were this one  (because, hello?  that price!) and also this one.  My absolute favorite one of all was this one but that price tag... um, no thank you.  Not if I want to stay married.  Haha.  Oh, and on a side note, they totally have outdoor bar carts now, too... just look at this one!!!!  I love that it has three shelves!  More space to decorate!  ;o)

Now, a couple of things that I must state before continuing: First of all, we have tiny kids in our home so we cannot have open bottles of liquor on this cart quite yet.  As you probably know, liquor bottles do not have childproof caps, so until the kids get a bit older (like say… 21?), the liquor will stay up high in the cabinet near our refrigerator.  And second, my DSLR camera was struggling – I think the lens needs to be cleaned after our beach trip – so these pictures did not come out as well as I had hoped.  They are all a bit grainy and/or blurry.  My apologies.

B and I pretty much drink one of four things – wine, beer, margaritas, or Moscow Mules.  Since beer is kept in the fridge, and we mostly only drink margaritas at restaurants, that left two categories for the bar cart – wine and Moscow Mules.  Therefore, I decided to make the top shelf our Moscow Mule shelf (because hello, it’s prettier!) and the bottom shelf our wine shelf.

The top shelf includes our copper mugs, the extra bottles of ginger beer that wouldn’t fit in the fridge, limes, and some festive straws.  It also holds my new cocktails recipe book and my FAVORITE black and white striped pitcher full of fake pink flowers from Hobby Lobby.

The bottom shelf includes several bottles of wine (even though we have about 24 more bottles on our wine rack in the formal dining room), two of the four of our Camille wine glasses AKA my “Olivia Pope wine glasses,” two wine tumblers, and a wine bottle cage that holds old corks.  The tin bucket is from the dollar spot at Target, and it holds all of our wine accessories – the very best wine opener EVER (seriously, if you are a wine drinker you NEED this), our wine stopper system, and our wine glass charms.  I couldn't find our exact ones, but I love these and these, but these are my very favorite!  Plus, they are on clearance!!

I did a special chalkboard just for this post and I’m looking forward to coming up with lots of other designs for the upcoming holidays for the bar cart.

The “Happy Hour” banner is also from the dollar spot at Target.  #CantStopWontStop

The bar cart is in our eat-in kitchen near the table where we eat the most frequently.  Here are some pictures so you can get an idea of the location.

After I finished shooting all of the pictures, I realized that I had forgotten to put my marquee letter on there, so I shot a few more with it.  Doesn’t that add so much to the ambiance?!  Oh how I love the twinkle light/marquee light fad!

Anyway, if you’re looking to stock and decorate a bar cart of your own, I have many suggestions for you in my original post, and today also happens to be Amazon Prime Day, so some of them may go on sale!  Here are a few of the items you can shop in the original post:

Happy shopping!

  7. Super cute! And it makes for a great station during a party to house a lemonade canister, too! That always takes up so much space on my counter- it'd be great to have an extra cart for it.

  10. The cart fits perfectly in that spot! I love it! We use an old dresser as a bar cart, and it looks so nice-but it's also great when you have company because it makes for a great drink station. One less thing on the kitchen counters!

  15. Your bar cart looks festive and fun. Even though you have little ones in the house, it's nice to have a bar cart that you can set up when you're planning an adult party that might occur after the kids are in bed or when they're at Grandma's house. It looks great in your dining space.
