Red, White, and Blue Jello Shots

Fourth of July is upon us, so it’s time to make all the patriotic things!  Nothing says patriotic like some red, white, and blue Jello shots.  These are perfect for your Memorial Day and Fourth of July summer parties. 

These are very easy to make, but you need to make sure you allow yourself a lot of time since you have to refrigerate in between layers to allow the Jello to set.  I was originally going to make these with a red layer, a white layer, and a blue layer, but it was just too time consuming.  Since I decided to forgo the white layer, I added the festive picks to include all three colors.  :o)

And if you don't drink alcohol, these would still be fun to make as a little treat for the party... and the kids would LOVE THEM.  All you have to do is substitute cold water for the vodka portions and you're all set!

1 box berry blue Jello

1 cup boiling water

1/2 cup Vodka chilled

1/2 cup cold water

1 box strawberry Jello

1 cup boiling water

1/2 cup Vodka chilled

1/2 cup cold water

Plastic shot glasses (similar here)

Festive picks (similar here and here)

Make It

1.    Empty berry blue Jello powder in a mixing bowl and add 1 cup of boiling water.

2.    Stir until Jello is fully dissolved.

3.    Add in ½ cup of Vodka and ½ cup of cold water.

4.    Stir until completely mixed.

5.    Fill each shot glass halfway with blue mixture.

6.    Refrigerate for 2-3 hours until Jello is completely set.

7.    Empty strawberry Jello powder in a mixing bowl and add 1 cup of boiling water.

8.    Stir until Jello is fully dissolved.

9.    Add in ½ cup of Vodka and ½ cup of cold water.

10. Stir until completely mixed.

11. Pour red mixture over the refrigerated and set blue Jello mixture to fill the shot glasses the rest of the way.

12. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours until Jello is completely set.

13. Garnish with a festive pick and enjoy!

Funny note – when I made these for the first time last summer for our Fourth of July party, instead of doing 1 cup of hot water and 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka, I did 1 cup boiling water and a full cup of vodka.  YOWZERS.  You should have seen my momma’s face when she did her shot!  Haha.  Priceless.  Trust me when I say that they were waaaay too strong, friends.  Way too strong. 

Or maybe not. 

Just feel free to alter your vodka accordingly to how wild you want the party to be.  ;o)
