Hello and happy
Monday once again! We had a good weekend
and I hope you did, too! We didn’t have
a whole lot going on this weekend out of the norm, but B and I did have a
mid-week date night that I wanted to recap in this post along with the weekend!
Wednesday night
we finally made it to see Beauty and the Beast, and it was just in time as it
left the theaters this weekend. Before
heading to the theaters we went to one of our old favorite restaurants. We hadn’t been in quite a while because we
have been trying all of the new restaurants that our city has to offer, but
this restaurant just moved and we wanted to check out their new digs. Since we were seeing a 7 o’clock movie
(because – school night!), we got to the restaurant at 5:45 and we were the
only people there besides a couple of groups of elderly people. #EarlyBirdSpecial
The atmosphere
at the new place was great, though! I
was completely swooning over that wall of wine and I’m trying to figure out
where exactly where we could put one of those in our house… hmmmm…
The menu had
been slightly updated along with the location, but I ordered my trusty rusty
filet with garlic mashed potatoes and a caesar salad and it did not
disappoint. The filet was excellent –
prepared perfectly and I was able to eat every single last bite, not an ounce
of fat on it. After dinner B and I
shared a slice of turtle cheesecake, and then it was time to head to the
theater for the movie.
The movie was
enamoring from start to finish. I had
gone in with such high expectations that I thought for sure I was going to be
slightly disappointed, but nope, I loved every single thing about it. I thought that they did the best job possible
and I can’t imagine them having done anything different. It was truly phenomenal, and that is quite a
testament to them considering that the original is my favorite Disney movie of
all time. If you haven’t seen it, most
definitely do!
If you follow
me on Instagram, you may have seen in my Insta stories that Friday was my very
first allergy shot. I was a bit nervous
after all of the talk of Epi-Pens and allergic reactions, and then I was even
more nervous when the nurse told me that I’m even more high risk due to the
fact that I have asthma. Fortunately,
though, everything went smoothly and there were no issues. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even have any
itching or burning like some people do.
The shot didn’t remotely hurt (I’ve never been bothered by shots anyway,
though) and my arm wasn’t even sore afterward.
So hopefully, everything will continue to be just fine, and hopefully my
journey to being allergy-free is finally underway!
After I left
the allergist, I had to stop in the middle of the road for this:
Yep, those are
geese, just crossing the road. Lol.
Friday the
weather was rainy and cold… yes, cold in May.
I never thought that I would say that here in Georgia! So anyway, we decided to stay in, order
pizza, make some margs – because, Cinco de Mayo – and have a family movie
night. We watched The Secret Life of
Pets and all of us loved it. It was so
cute and funny!
Saturday we
spent the morning outside. We have
decided that we are going to put Jacob in a soccer league in the fall, so B is
trying to get him prepped and ready for it.
He bought a couple of pop-up goals on Amazon this past week and he set
them up in the back yard and played with Jacob.
So far from the looks of it, we are thinking that he has the potential
to be a pretty good little soccer player.
Get ready, world… Lindsay is about to officially be a soccer mom! Ha!
I spent Saturday
afternoon lounging in the back yard and finishing up my Lauren Graham book. It was so cute… I could not love
her more! And the book got me super
excited for the Gilmore Girls reboot.
No, we haven’t seen it yet… we are still only in season six of the
original series.
Toward the end
of my lazy-fest, B came out in the back yard and asked me if I wanted to see a
turtle that had somehow made its way to our garage. I declined as I have seen and played with
many turtles in my day (my little bro used to bring them home all the time) and
I went back to my reading. A few minutes
later B came back out and told me how the turtle had snapped at him when he
tried to move him and when he held up his hands to show how big it was, I was
like, WHAT?! It was waaaay bigger than I
had imagined. I had pictured a turtle
about the size of an adult’s hand, but this one was probably ten inches long
and almost as big around.
I hopped up and
went to look at it and it was definitely not what I had imagined. This thing was filthy and it looked positively
ancient. We decided to leave him in the
garage and let him find his own way out, and sure enough, when we left for church
an hour and a half later he was long gone.
Which is odd since he’s a turtle and turtles are super slow. We still have no idea where he even came from
as we don’t have any lakes or creeks in our neighborhood. He must have traveled a long way to end up on
our doorstep!
After turtle
watching, I headed upstairs to get ready and to play with my new pom pom sandals that arrived in the mail that morning!
My mom and dad had gotten them for me for my birthday, but they run
really large and I had to exchange them for a smaller size. The smaller size fit perfectly so they are
finally keepers and they are finally mine!
I cannot wait to wear those pretties at the beach in just a few weeks!
Saturday
evening was church and dinner at our favorite BBQ place and then we watched a
couple more episodes of GG before calling it a night.
Sunday morning
B headed to the acute care place because he thought that he might possibly have
pink-eye. The doc told him that it was
not pink-eye yet, but that it was a viral cold in his eye that would have
likely turned into pink-eye if he hadn’t gone to have it treated. Poor B… he’s always getting all of the
childhood illnesses. Lol.
Meanwhile, the
kids and I stayed home. I cleaned out a couple
of drawers that are constantly cluttered, and snapped a picture of the absurd
amount of sunglasses that our kids have.
Haha. Won’t be needing to buy any
of those for a while!
Sunday afternoon
was lunch at my MIL’s house. We haven’t
had lunch with them in three weeks because they have had other things going on
and have been out of town, so it was nice to finally be back to our usual
routine. The kiddos played in the garden
and I checked out all of the fun things that they’re growing this year –
blueberries, strawberries, okra, habanero peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes,
squash, and lettuce are planted so far – and they’ll also be planting green
beans, watermelon, and cucumbers within the next week or so.
Olivia was a
little scavenger and she kept picking strawberries (unripe ones and all) and
eating them right there on the spot. She
also kept eating the stems which was SO WEIRD and it was driving me crazy. Just look at that last little picture of her…
that face says it all… little stinker.
She was also a
wild one on Sunday and kept being extremely disobedient, so she landed herself
in timeout right there in the back yard.
This is her pouty leave-me-alone-I’m-in-timeout face. Lol. She
drives me up the wall, but I sure do love her.
I’m convinced that life would be utterly boring without her.
Sunday evening,
instead of heading to my parents’ house for our usual Sunday dinner, we headed
to an old train depot turned party venue for my cousin’s surprise 40th birthday
party. We had dinner and cake, the kids ran wild,
and a good time was had by all. Seriously, how cute is this place?!
Enjoy your
week!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Heather! And welcome!
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! Beauty and the Beast was soooo good!! :) Also, I take it geese are uncommon down there??? It's like an everyday occurrence here... ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha. They are pretty common around these parts, but it's pretty rare to have to stop in the middle of the road for them to cross. Haha.
DeleteWhat an awesome weekend!! We loved Beauty and the Beast!
ReplyDeleteLove your margarita glasses! I really want to find a good martini recipe!
Have a great week! Oh, so glad the shots went well!
It looks like you had an awesome weekend! Other than the allergy shot and cold day, of course. That restaurant looks like a great date spot and I'm so glad you loved the movie. The animated version is my favorite Disney animated movie and I felt the same going to see the new version, but I absolutely loved it..maybe even a bit more than the animated version! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! Wasn't it just perfect?! I was so pleased with it!
DeleteI loved Beauty and the Beast and cannot wait to own it. I don't know who is more excited, me or my kids?!?! Even my husband loved it. That turtle is crazy. Sounds like the perfect weekend and so glad that your first round of shots went well. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl, look at that margarita! And look how pretty you look in your one shoulder yellow! Such a doll and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Andrea! We are having a great week so far!
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed Beauty and the Beast. I was wanting margaritas but didn't end up having one. I love that dress on you! I really like the white furry background you use for your photos!
ReplyDeleteLoving that one shoulder dress, so pretty! I can't believe I never made it to the theaters for Beauty and the Beast. Now I patiently await it to come out on Netflix <3

What a fun weekend and date night! I love that yellow dress on you. I hope the shots work for you and your allergies will be so much better. I should look into something like that but I am the biggest baby with needles :( Your MIL's garden is just the best thing. I love seeing and hearing about what she is growing. Ha, my kids would be picking everything too. Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteStill haven't see that movie -- so late to the game. LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you guys have been having regular date nights, they are essential.
Such a fun weekend!

Glad everything went well with the shots! My kids would've snuck the turtle inside the house to keep as a pet! It's definitely fun to watch the kids play organized sports- keyword being WATCH! Don't volunteer to be coaches- volunteer to be team mom or snack lady- much less stressful! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! Glad your shots went well. I know that's no fun to worry about. And, Olivia's face in time out made me crack up. Gotta love that expression. She is hilarious. I want to see the movie so bad. I think I'll have to wait till it comes out on DVD or On Demand though!
ReplyDeleteLove those sandals and bathing suit top. Sounds like a great weekend. My girls have been acting up and being in time out has become habit lately. Ugh. Stinkers is right. Poor B. I hope he is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWe totally dig the early bird thing. We almost always have dinner on the table about 5:30 every night. Maybe a bit later in the summer months. That turtle is so weird looking! I have never seen one with a tail like that! If I don't hurry up with my GG watching, you might beat me. I am still mid season 7 and taking my sweet time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend!! Love both of the yellow dresses you wore! So pretty on you!! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteYay for the allergy shot going well! Yay for date night. I loved Beauty and the Beast! I am so glad you got your pom pom sandals in your size and just in time for the beach - yahoo! loved your one shoulder date night dress, so cute! Happy Monday almost Tuesday ;) xoxo ERIN
ReplyDeleteMatt's been getting allergy shots for about 18 months now and it has changed our lives. Seriously. Before, he used to barely be able to go outside from April to July. We couldn't even have the windows open in the nice weather. But now, he's outside all the time and the windows are open and no problems! It's so amazing. I hope you have the same success! :) LOVED Beauty and the Beast!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for a random week-night date night!! We loved Beauty and the Beast, too. I’m so glad that everything went well with the allergy shot. Sounds like you guys had a really great weekend. That turtle is huge!! I have been seeing them more frequently around here.
