We had a little
taste of spring this weekend. Although,
who am I kidding? Pretty much this
entire winter has been a taste of spring!
It’s been so bizarre.
Friday evening
we headed downtown to enjoy the beautiful sunny and 75 degree weather. We stopped by the big mural on the way to
dinner and the kiddos had a blast running around and posing in front of the
massive abstract painting. That picture of Olivia kissing Jacob by the wall… be
still my heart!
After dinner we
walked to the new ice cream/homemade fudge and treats shop where I had some of
the best ice cream of my entire life!! I
am almost always a mint chocolate chip girl when it comes to ice cream and I’m
usually disappointed if I try something new, but Friday night I stepped out of
my usual box and decided to try their Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream. Oh. my. gosh.
Somebody needs to tell me where I can find some of that to keep in my
freezer! It was so good! On a side note, check out those floors!! Makes me want to redo our master bath!
We wrapped up
the evening with a walk back to the car, bedtime for the kiddos, and then The
OA and Gilmore Girls for B and me.
Saturday
morning B had tennis, so the kids and I worked on their valentines to take to
class on Tuesday. We used the pre-made
Target Dollar Spot valentines for the kids’ friends, and then I made some tags
that said, “I won the jackpot having you as my teacher” for the teachers. In the teachers’ bags went a few 100 Grand
bars, a few Paydays, and a few scratch off lotto tickets… who doesn’t love the
chance to win $50k?
Saturday afternoon
was spent cleaning out the kids' artwork, cleaning out a few more things and taking sweet pictures of Olivia’s
Valentine’s Day leg warmers. Fun fact, I
bought those for her when she was in my belly over three years ago, but her legs
have been too chunk-a-licious to wear them until now. I’m so glad that I held onto them, though,
because she is loving them!
Saturday evening
we went to church, and we finally made a huge leap and stopped allowing Olivia
to have her paci there. For the last
couple of years, she has only been allowed to have paci at nighttime, naptime,
and in church and nowhere else. We have
been trying (and failing) for the last few months to convince her that she
doesn’t need it anymore in church, but we were always worried that she would
cause a scene, so we never took it away.
Well, we finally decided to be proactive last weekend and we told her
that it was the last time that that she would be allowed to have it during
church. We reminded her throughout the
day all day Saturday to prepare her for it mentally, and then right before church
we had a whole ceremonial “leave the paci at home” ordeal. We let Olivia take it out of the bag and
leave it on the kitchen counter and wave goodbye to it as we walked out the
door. That way she was able to really
process that it wouldn’t be available to her at church.
Well, when we
got there and sat down she looked at me with her big puppy dog eyes and said, “I
want my paci.” I gently reminded her
that we had left it at home, and then that was that. She never asked for it again. She did, however, hum, talk to herself, and
shush really loudly so many times during mass that we almost had to take her
out, but hey, at least she didn’t cry for the paci! Haha.
#MoreThingsWeNeedToWorkOn
We are hoping
to get rid of the thing altogether sometime in the spring. Yes, we know, it’s long overdue. #SecondChildProbs
Sunday morning I finally got a start on my new Lauren Conrad book that I got for Christmas, and then we took the kids to the playground since it was cloudy but still oh-so-warm. We then headed to B’s momma’s for lunch.
She had made the cutest homemade heart cookies for VDay! We spent the rest of the afternoon out in the
back yard. The kids love to play in
their garden, and Sunday was no exception.
They had a blast throwing sand, rocks, sticks, and pine straw in a
wheelbarrow full of water and saying that they were mixing up potions. I just love their little imaginations! (Even though I was slightly dying inside
watching them play in that dirty, stagnant water.)
Sunday evening
was dinner at my parents’ house. We hadn’t
been to their house in three weeks due to other events the last couple of
Sundays, so it was nice to get back into the swing of things! My momma had decorated the table for Valentine's Day and she even made a special Valentine's Day dessert! Such a festive evening!
I hope you all
enjoy your week! Happy Monday!

DeleteSo jealous of your weather! That mural is amazing! Yay for Olivia not having the paci at church! I love that Valentine's Day was celebrate at both Brian's Moms and yours, how fun!
ReplyDeleteThat mural is amazing. Our weather was weird this weekend too. On Saturday it was nearly 80 and we grilled burgers and played all day then Sunday came and it was 50 something. The kids played out side still but I felt like I was going to freeze to death. Looks like you had an amazing weekend girl. I am loving your outfits from Saturday too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! Our weather was amazing this weekend too...it was in the 40's (but that literally felt like 80's to us) and it was sunny! Everyone was outside this weekend soaking up the sun. I hope you have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteHaha! 40s for us is coooold. I'm glad that you guys had a little bit of "warmth" though! ;o)
DeleteThis mural photos are totally frame worthy! My hubby and I headed to NY to celebrate Valentine's weekend, but wondering if we missed out, because this Southern weather was on point this weekend. I had friends texting me of them from the beach while I was in the snow lol
ReplyDeleteThey are so precious! The one with her kissing him definitely belongs in a frame!
ReplyDeleteSo many adorable pictures- love 'em all! :) And I was loving this amazing weather over the weekend too, I hope winter never shows up haha.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the wall photos! I'm always so jealous when bloggers share photos like these. We have nothing like those walls anywhere near us! Sounds like a great weekend. Yay for no paci at church! And how cute was your mom's set up for V-day dinner?! Love!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! I LOVE the pictures by the wall, they came out great! Olivia's leg warmers are adorable. And your mom is so cute, love how festive she is!

ReplyDeleteHow cute is your mom's Valentine's table? So fun! Looks like a great weekend. That lemon ice cream sounds absolutely amazing. I love the mural pics too! So cool!
ReplyDeleteYour Spring-like weekend sounds amazing. It was freezing here this past weekend. All the photos taken by that bright colorful wall are so good, especially of your kids together. I love all of your and your daughter Olivia's blush+white outfits in this post. And your mom's Valentine's table looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend. That floor to the ice cream shop looks so cool and I want it in my bathroom as well. Rory loves mint chip and rarely ventures from it. I love all different kinds. Yours sounded really good. And Valentine's cookies. I can't wait to enjoy my fair share. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt was so warm here too but we took it easy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like y'all had a blast though. That wall made for some amazing photos.
LOL at the kids being hangry! And yay for LC's new book, isn't it fabulous? <3

I'm glad to know we aren't the only one whose little one still has a paci. My little guy turned 3 last month and I know we have to take it away but he sleeps so week with it. He's only allowed to have it when he's sleeping or napping but I'm still dreading taking it away!
ReplyDeleteGirl, it is SO hard!!!! When we took Jacob's away he was a nightmare for MONTHS. It was so awful. Good luck to you!!
DeleteYou are SO good about taking such great pictures of your outings! Again, love your outfits and what a fun family weekend you had!
ReplyDeleteThat wall in your town is awesome! I would have so much fun taking pics in front of that and it looks like you guys had a blast! I can't get over how adorable the two of them are. That picture of Olivia snuggling up on Jacob, heart eyes for days :) Wine, pizza and ice cream sound fabulous too. Their Valentine's came out so cute! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteOH gosh that paci fight, been there done that! When we gave up my daughters paci she asked for it for MONTHS afterwards...but we stayed strong didn't keep any in the house and went for it...then she started sucking her thumb...haha! Great weekend as always, and that wall, #picturegoals.
ReplyDeleteThat wall is so cool! And Olivia kissing Jacob…oh my heart! We used the Target Dollar Spot Valentine kits as well! They were too cute (and easy) to pass up! Looks like a great weekend.
