In honor of
national love day, I thought that I would share with all of you my loves. I know I have some new readers around here,
so it’s probably a good idea to give a little bit of background info on our
family anyway since I haven’t done anything like that in a while.
Brian
My first love. My favorite person in the whole world.
Brian and I
met back in 2002 through a mutual friend, but we didn’t start dating until
August 2003, a year and a half later.
Pretty much from the moment we got together I was smitten and I knew
that he was the one. He fit right in
with my family and my friends and he made (and still makes) me the happiest
person in the whole world. I feel like I’m
a better person because of him. I really
do.
We were
married in December 2007 and that was the best day of my whole life. Never once did I question anything or feel
like I was making a mistake… it was the easiest decision I ever made to marry
him, and to this day I have still never been so sure of anything in my entire
life.
He is the
calm to my crazy. The quiet to my
loud. The positive to my negative. The funny to my… oh wait, I’m hilarious, too. ;o)
But
seriously, I’ve never ever met a person who complains as little as Brian. We’ve been together for almost 14 years and I’ve
probably only ever heard him complain like five times. When there’s something tough that needs to be
done, he just does what he has to do without so much as a frown or a sigh. Some days I wonder why he still puts up with
me in all of my complaining glory.
He loves me and our
babies oh so good, and he goes along with all of my crazy ideas. He is my biggest supporter and he even reads
my blog every single morning first thing when he wakes up so he can alert me if
I’ve misspelled a word or made a grammatical error just so I can get it fixed
before the majority of people read the post.
That means more to me than he will ever know.
Oh, and he
makes me laugh every single day. Ladies,
if you are ever looking for a man, please, please
make sure that he’s funny because there’s nothing better than laughing every
day with the person you love the most.
Now don’t let
all of this mushy gushy stuff lead you to believe that our relationship is
perfect, though, because of course, it’s not.
We have our share of ups and downs just like everyone else, but
fortunately for us, it’s mostly up. And
most of the time, our relationship is easy.
He could definitely
stand to brush up on his listening skills a bit, though… ;o)
Brian’s face
right now: -_-
My sweet,
sweet rainbow baby. I prayed for him
every single day for so long and he was the answer to some of my most desperate
prayers during one of the hardest times in my entire life..
At five years
old (or five and a half, he would say
if he was reading this) he is as smart as a whip, already reading entire
chapter books and comprehending things that I had no idea that a five year old
could comprehend. His intellect
absolutely amazes me and we just know that he is going to eventually use it to
do something great.
He is extremely
literal, he is overly cautious about every little thing (just like his Mommy),
and he is very shy around people he doesn’t know… he is never the kid singing
loudly and proudly in the front row of the school Christmas program, nor do I
ever think he will be. He loves music
and is already well versed in many different genres due to Brian’s and my
eclectic tastes. He is every bit as
funny as his Daddy and he makes us laugh every day as well. When he’s quiet, we never have to worry
because we know that he’s doing something constructive… reading, playing with
toys, or building Legos.
He is teeny
tiny, and I adore that about him because it just means that I can still pick
him up and snuggle him like a baby. And
he still lets me.
Some nights
when I’m patting him to sleep, and I’m marveling over the smattering of
freckles on his little nose and cheeks I wonder how in the whole world I got so
lucky to have him.
Olivia
Olivia
This girl.
Our spunky
little gal.
From the
moment I was old enough to even think about being a mommy I knew that I wanted
a baby girl. A sassy, sweet, girly
little girl. And all of my family and
friends used to tell me that I was going to end up having 4 or 5 boys just
because I wanted a girl so badly. (I
would have been one of those people
who kept trying and trying for a girl even after we had six boys. Haha.)
So I had always just assumed that I would have all boys since I was
conditioned to think that way. Well, in
2014 we were blessed with Olivia and some days I still can’t believe that we do have a little girl.
But I digress.
She is always
singing. Always singing. Or humming. Or talking.
Or yelling. Or making some kind
of noise. Always. Always. Always. Even in her sleep she’s loud. From the first night that she slept next to
me in our hospital bed, I knew that she was going to be the loud one.
She keeps us
on our toes. She’s sneaky and she’s mischievous,
so when she’s quiet, you better run and check on her because she’s getting into
something! She’s constantly causing Jacob
to get into things that they both know they shouldn’t be into and he does it
because she’s so persuasive! I just know
that she’s going to be a leader someday.
She has a
heart of gold. She loves fiercely and she
hugs me so hard sometimes that I can barely breathe. She’s creative and hilarious and oh so much
fun and she keeps us constantly entertained.
She’s wacky and wonderful and frustrating and lovely and our lives would
be utterly boring without her. Sometimes
I think that we should have a third child simply because she would be the
quintessential middle child.
Maui
Maui
Our first
baby.
In the fall
of 2009, just after we moved into our newly built house, I convinced Brian that
we needed a dog. He had never really had
many pets growing up, so it was pretty much up to me to make the decision of
what to get. We searched for months and
none of the puppies stood out until we met Maui. She was the runt of three puppies and her
brother and sister were both twice her size, so I fell in love with her
instantly.
She is now
seven years old and has maxed out at 4 pounds.
She smells and sometimes acts exactly like my dog from my childhood who
had just passed away one year prior to when we found her. Sometimes I swear she is Bill (my old dog)
reincarnated.
She loves our
babies so much and she never showed the least bit of hostility to either of them
when we brought them home from the hospital.
She also never makes a peep. No
barking, no growling… nothing. It’s actually
kind of weird, but also really nice.
Other Loves
My extended
family. My friends. Dave Matthews Band. Wine. University
of Georgia football. Fashion. Friends (the show). The color pink. Chapstick.
Hearts. Cookie cake. Fall.
Pumpkin everything. Fancy coffee
like overpriced Starbucks lattes. Paper
goods. Office supplies. Blogging (duh). Curling up with a good book. Feet rubs and back scratchins with
Brian. Sleeping late. Donuts. Dark chocolate M&Ms. My new letter board…
…Don’t say
you didn’t see that one coming!
Happy
Valentine’s Day, friends! I hope that
your day is full of love and laughter with all of your favorite people!
