Before I get
into the plans for this year I thought that I would share a few things that would make great gifts for your gals or for yourself. Because everyone should buy themselves a Valentine's Day gift, no?
How fun is
all of that stuff?? Mackensey actually posted about that crossover ring last week, and I ordered it immediately... you cannot beat that price! And I just had to mention the gold S'well Bottle because I just love mine so much!
Now on to the
plans for this year…
And Brian,
you better not be reading…
I’m warning
you, please stop now! :o)
Gifts for Brian:
Valentine’s
Day is a great time to get fun gifts! B loves
to wear wild socks, so those always make for a great small gift. This year I’m loving these and these. I also love to get him new boxers every
Valentine’s Day. As a matter of fact,
this is pretty much a tradition even though I never realized it until now. These have my heart this year, and I also
love these (even though he would probably kill me if I gave him those!) Lol.
Last year for
B’s birthday I gave him a beer cap map like this one so any gift-giving
holiday is the perfect opportunity for me to find a new craft beer for him to
try so he can add a new cap to his map.
I am taking care to see which states he needs caps for and then trying
to find beers from those states so he can fill in his map!
We both share
a love for cookie cakes, so it’s not uncommon for us to both order one to
surprise the other and then we end up with two!
Ha!
Another one
of my favorite gifts to give? Lotto
tickets! Who doesn’t want the chance to
win a million dollars?!
I am really
big on cards for birthdays and holidays and I spend so much time in the card
aisles to make sure I find the perfect card!
This is something that he always gets for Valentine’s Day. Sometimes I even give him two… a funny one
and a sweet one because I can’t make up my mind which I like better!
One of the
best gifts that I’ve ever given him was this Moscow Mule Gift Basket. I gave this to him last year for Father’s Day
and he loved it! Those copper mugs get a
ton of use in our household. It would
make for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift if you’re looking for ideas!
Gifts for the Kids:
The kids’
gifts typically look like this: a card, a treat, and a small Valentine’s Day
related toy or book.
This year,
Jacob is getting a singing Star Wars card a box of Star Wars chocolates, some fun Valentine's Day Band-Aids that I found in the Target Dollar Spot, and this Lego Valentine's Dog that Lizzie mentioned on her blog a couple of
weeks ago. He is obsessed with Legos so
I know he will love it!
Olivia is
getting a singing Belle from Beauty and the Beast card, a box of Disney Frozen chocolates, some fun Valentine's Day Band-Aids that I found in the Target Dollar Spot, and the book The Day it Rained Hearts. (It's not pictured below because we haven't received it yet.) We don’t have that one in our collection yet
and I’ve heard it’s great, so I can’t wait to read it to her on Valentine’s night. :o)
If you’re
looking for any other book ideas, you should check out Love is You and Me and In My Heart. Love is You and Me teaches
kids what love should feel like from a relationship standpoint… I cannot
recommend it enough! And In My Heart teaches kids about feelings. We have
both and they are both favorites.
Dinner:
I don’t
typically try to do any kind of themed dinner or anything, so I will probably
try to keep it easy. We love breakfast
for dinner – eggs, grits, bacon, and toast – and this year I was thinking of
making homemade confetti waffles in place of toast. You can see my recipe for the confetti
waffles here, but you’ll obviously want Valentine’s Day colored sprinkles for
the “confetti.” They are so festive for
the kids!
Valentines for the Class:
Target Dollar
Spot for the win! This year they had a
bunch of premade Valentines that came with bubbles or erasers or slime, so we
decided to go with those this year instead of making something Pinteresty like last year.
Jacob picked
out the vehicle erasers for the boys in his class, and the slime in little plastic
hearts for the girls. Olivia will be
giving the ones with bubbles for all of her classmates. Simple and easy!
I’m still not
sure exactly what I’m doing yet, but I saw a great idea to send a mug with
PayDay and 100 Grand candy bars and some lotto tickets with the printable “I
won the jackpot having you as a teacher!”
I mean, again, who doesn’t love the chance to win a million dollars?!
Other:
Target always
has my heart for their themed holiday aisles, and pretty much for every holiday
I pick up one of their special cake mixes and frostings. This year they had Funfetti cake (my
favorite) in Valentine’s colors with pink frosting and Valentine’s
sprinkles. We will probably make this
the weekend before V-Day and take it to Sunday dinner at my parents’
house.
Well, did I
cover it all? Whew! I guess “keeping it low-key” is still pretty
involved, huh? So what are some of the
things that you are doing? Do you
celebrate as well? Don’t forget to link up with us down below!

DeleteI'm still debating on teacher gifts. I'm thinking a donut with a cute little tag. :) Cuz who doesn't love donuts? Ha ha! We usually do a card and I make a themed dinner. The kids usually get a card and book. Just a little bit of fun. Ha ha
ReplyDeleteI love the different gift ideas. And I am kind of obsessing over those striped pjs!!! So cute! Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorites - I will have to be making that sometime soon! Love the gifts for the kids - sounds perfect for them!
ReplyDeleteWe keep our V-day pretty low key too....especially if it's during the week. And I love my swell bottle Dustin bought me for Christmas! I think everyone should get one!
ReplyDeleteSarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
Love this. We keep our v day low key too. I love getting cards for patrick. I think I'm going to do that Moscow mule basket this year. Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I had to laugh at the end, yes even with low key we still do so much!
ReplyDeleteI got those same band aids for the kids and that little lego dog :) I wish I would have been on my game and saw those pre-made valentines but there were none left when we went! I'm also all about the cards, I don't really care about getting flowers or chocolate, but I better get a card and it better be written in - of course I do the same :) Such a fun post!
I have been swooning over every pair of aviators I have seen lately. I definitely think I need some and see a pair in my very near future.
ReplyDeleteThose are great sweaters...anything with wine on it!
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am! Wine all day erry day!
DeleteAw love your breakfast for dinner idea! Those waffles look delish! I might have to add a gluten free option to our dinner plans next week!
ReplyDeleteI love a low key Valentine's Day. We usually try to stay away from going out to eat on the actual day. I love those PJs you found and that ruffle top is perfect. The kids would love those confetti waffles! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI love your Valentine's ideas! That ring - seriously $7 - I am ordering that ring. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYep. Seriously! And it's gorgeous in person!
DeleteLove all of those ideas. I need to go out and get my girls Valentine's presents too. It's on my to do list.
ReplyDeleteI just clicked on that pink ruffle cold shoulder top! OMG $15!! So cheap! My spending budget is totally depleted and I'm so bummed because it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is traveling for work next week so my Valentine plans include hanging out with my 4 year old and watching Finding Dory! #partyanimals I am going to get C a gift and James and I will have to celebrate late.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun ideas! I love the rose all day shirt! We are usually pretty low key around here too.
ReplyDeleteMe too! So cute! Have a great weekend!
DeleteOkay, first, I totally need a waffle maker!! Confetti waffles?? I'm all about that!! And breakfast for dinner?? It's special but secretly easy - GENIUS! :)
ReplyDeleteWe tend to keep V-day low key as well. I will take one of each of the things you listed! Love them all. Especially that necklace, those aviators and that swell bottle! I am just thinking of all the things I could create with my cricut for that swell bottle!
