Our Wedding - Portraits

Back in December I started recapping our wedding in honor of our ninth wedding anniversary that was on December first.  Well, I got about halfway through recapping and then I got swept up in all of the holiday posts like most of us bloggers tend to do.

So far I have shared the planning & details, the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner, the big day leading up to the ceremony, and the ceremony itself so I still owe you the pictures from the reception and the portraits.  Today I’m posting my favorites of the portraits.

Since we had such a late wedding (ceremony started at 7:30 PM), B and I opted to see each other beforehand, so we could go ahead and get all of our portraits out of the way and have time to enjoy all of our friends and family after the ceremony.  I was so against this at first, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense.  The portraits took around two hours, so if we had waited to do those until after the wedding, it would have been an incredibly late start to the reception, and we would have also been rushed taking the pictures.  Not to mention we wouldn’t have been able to get any good shots outside in the natural light.

Since I was initially crushed about having to see him before the wedding, our photographer arranged it so the church would be empty so B and I could have our privacy when seeing each other for the first time.  This allowed us to have our own special moment.  B had his back turned when I walked in the door, and he turned around just as I started walking down the aisle toward him.  The photographer was the only person in there with us, a fly on the wall, to capture the moment.  A moment I will never forget.

After that, we took some shots in the church and some shots outside together, and then we joined with our wedding party as well as our family to get some group shots.  We have a couple hundred pictures, so I have narrowed them down to my favorites, as hard as that was!  I’ll let the pictures do the talking now…

I’ll be back soon to share the final installment… the reception.  And boy, was it a party!  Best night of my entire life!

And if you missed the prior wedding posts, you can see them below.

  3. Okay you've really inspired me to blog our wedding sooner rather than later! I loved taking pictures before the ceremony! We had an hour for Dustin and I and then an hour for our wedding party and then an hour for family pictures--we took A LOT! I love seeing your pictures--you look the same!

  8. Stunning pictures!! I would have done the pictures first too if my reception was the same time. My sister did a first look with her husband and got some amazing shots that way!

  10. You looked stunning, Lindsay! We did a "first look" as well (and had all our photos done before the ceremony since it took place after sunset). I was SO against it at first, but it was honestly the only time we had alone together all day, so it ended up being a great decision.
