What We’re Eating This Week
Monday – Zaxby’s
before Jacob’s school Christmas Program.
Tuesday – Cracker
Barrel after our annual trip to Fantasy in Lights! Eek!
Wednesday – Breakfast
for dinner – eggs, grits, bacon, toast.
Thursday – Probably
a frozen pizza… we love Digiorno!
Friday – Not
sure yet… probably grabbing some take-out.
This is a crazy week so Momma’s not doing any cooking!
Saturday – Christmas
Eve dinner at my parents’ house… ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans,
sweet potato soufflé, mac n cheese, etc.
My very favorite night of the entire year!
Sunday – More
Christmas yummies similar to Saturday, but with even more choices!
What I’m Reminiscing About
I’ve been
thinking a lot about our trip to New York City at Christmastime back in
2012. This time of year always makes me
think of NYC because of all of the Christmas movies set there, so I started
recapping our trip on the blog yesterday.
You can see Day 1 here and I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 2 of our trip.
What I’m Loving
So very many
things to love this time of year, where to even begin?
Snuggling
with my sweet family on the couch watching Christmas movies.
Hearing
Olivia request Mary, Did You Know? over
and over again in the car.
Hearing Jacob
request non-Christmas songs over and over to contradict Olivia. Lol.
Fires in the
fire place.
Twinkle
lights everywhere.
Spending time
with my baby nephew and brother and sis-in-law while they’re home.
Hearing 48
sweet little Kindergarten voices singing in the school Christmas program.
Watching Love
Actually and having all the feels.
And a thousand
other wonderful things!
What We’ve Been Up To
Christmas
Christmas Christmas stuff, just like everyone else! Looking at lights, the school Christmas
program, watching Christmas movies, date night to a Christmas concert, our annual girls' ornament and scarf exchange, working on Christmas crafts. Need some last minute inspiration? Check out my posts below.
What I’m Dreading
Christmas
being over and having to “undecorate” the house. It’s always so much work getting it all
packed up. If you want to see it
decorated, my home tour for 2016 is here.
And while I
love the fresh start of the new year, I also really detest January and
February. They’ve always been my least
two favorite months of the year. Olivia’s
birthday at the end of February has made me like that month a little more,
though. :o)
What I’m Working On
Preparation
for this weekend – meal planning, grocery shopping, baking, gift wrapping,
getting the house all cleaned up.
What I’m Excited About
This pretty
much goes without saying… Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!!!! And seeing the kids’ faces light up when they
come down the stairs and see what Santa brought!
What I’m Watching/Reading
Watching – Now
that all of the shows are on their winter breaks, we’ve been watching a lot of
Christmas specials – the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting, the Pentatonix
Christmas special, and the America’s Got Talent Christmas special. We’ve also been watching Christmas movies
(The Santa Clause, Love Actually) and a whole lot of Gilmore Girls!
Reading – All
of my book reading has been put on hold because we’ve been so darn busy. I had started Someday, Someday Maybe by
Lauren Graham back in October, but never finished it, and I had started Balancing
in Heels by Kristin Cavallari, but never finished it.
I also have
Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand sitting on my nightstand, but I have yet to
crack that one open.
In January it’s
on!
What I’m Listening To
Michael Buble
Christmas, Frank Sinatra Christmas, Pentatonix Christmas, Charlie Brown
Christmas, John Denver Christmas, Straight No Chaser Christmas, Mariah Carey
Christmas, Nat King Cole Christmas, Tony Bennett Christmas… I’ll just stop
now. You get the point.
What I’m Wearing
Lots of
leggings, sweaters, boots, and scarves. And
Christmas sweaters. You can see my recap
of last month here.
What I’m Doing This Weekend
Ummmm, did
someone say Christmas?
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month
A fresh
start. Revamping the blog a bit. Working out more. Maybe taking a little trip to Atlanta to take
the kids to Snow Mountain…
What Else Is New
I finally got
to meet my nephew! My brother and
sister-in-law live in Texas, so I haven’t been able to see him in person since
he was born in June. They just got in
town last weekend, and I finally got to hold him!
Well friends,
we’re coming down the home stretch… only a few more days to go! Are you ready?

ReplyDeleteI love your cute Christmas socks and your new nephew is precious. I also could not agree with your more I love all the pretty Christmas decorations but I dread taking it all down! I always feel like my house is naked in January :( Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! In a way it's nice to have a fresh start, but it's also really sad taking everything down.
DeleteAhhhh! I want more Christmas time! Can't we just have one more full week?! I agree completely about January and February. How lucky you are that Olivia's birthday is at the end of February! I can't wait to read more about your trip to NYC! You're so organized, girl!
ReplyDeleteSnuggling up, starting a fire and watching Christmas movies has been some of my favorites too. I'm going to be so sad when all of this is over and we have to pack everything away. I might leave some wintery things up through January but I'm not sure yet. Love everything you've been up to! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, I just love Christmas time. I have not been a reader at all this month and so looking forward to grabbing a book and some time to read over break. I also love how your kiddos balance each other out with the Christmas vs. non Christmas music. Hahaha. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes Jacob is a mess! He loves Christmas music, too, but I think he might be starting to get tired of it as he's been requesting non-Christmas songs these last few days!
DeleteLove this Christmas currently. So many things to look forward to this week. I don't want to undecorate either. I love all my Christmasy stuff around the house. Boo. I wish we could leave it up through January!
ReplyDeleteNothing like Christmas in NYC, so many beautiful spots! And breakfast for dinner? YES please :-D

DeleteYour menu sounds like mine...lol. I haven't felt super overwhelmed but I sure have not had dinner on my list of to dos. We just had a Zaxbys open here but haven't tried it yet..and we could totally drink some wine and eat some dijorno together. It's my fave. I have been dreaming of NYC too...and Love Actually..seriously I may have to watch it one more time just to see Hugh and his little dance. :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI finally got to meet my new niece yesterday. She's about 6 months now, but they live down in Louisiana so it's great seeing her- and the other two of course! :) It's fun having the kids around during the holidays.
ReplyDelete-Lauren
I am dreading taking all the decorations down but at the same time I like the idea of starting the New Year fresh and new.
ReplyDeleteLove your Christmas sweatshirt and getting to know you a little better! Nothing better than kid Christmas programs :) merry Christmas!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo fun that so many of our answers were similar. Did I tell you that I start undecorating on the 26th? I wake up early and go to WM or wherever to get first dibs on the clearance then I come home and undeck the halls. I HATE that it has to go, but I want it all gone before my birthday.
ReplyDeleteRevamping the blog? You have me very intrigued. :) I am definitely dreading taking down all my decorations, but am looking to a new and fresh start as well!
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm so jealous! I WISH I HAD A FIREPLACE ID SPEND MY ENTIRE LIFE NEXT TO IT LOL I'm not even joking, u look stunning and ur family is beautiful and ur xmas tree and fireplace stole my heart. DeleteAnd thank you so much for your sweet comments! You made my day! Happy New Year, Dominica! :o)
