O N E – Fun Finds at Target
As always,
Target is on point with aaaallll the things.
I had to grab a few things on my lunch break yesterday and I tried to
shield my eyes as I walked past the dollar spot, but as always, my lack of
self-control when in Target took over and my legs just started walking that way
anyway.
Even though B
and I were just there for two hours
last Friday, I still managed to come across more new stuff that we had either
missed or that they had just restocked.
Like these cocktail recipe books, for example. How cute are they? They are hard back and both are filled to the
brim with yummy recipes and bright pictures splashed on each of the pages. When I found out they were only $5 each, both
of them just jumped in my cart. I couldn’t
help it. They are perfect for gift
exchanges and stocking stuffers!
And I’m
praying that my brother or sister-in-law are not reading this post because I’m
about to post something amazing that B and I found last week when we were
there.
Zach and
Cheryl, if you’re reading, please stop now as I’m about to post the greatest
gift that your son will ever receive from me and I would like for it to be a
surprise for you guys on Christmas Eve as well…
Well, are you
gone??
OK, now that
they have (hopefully) stopped reading, B and I were walking by the book aisle at
Target last Friday and look what was peeking out at me from the shelf…
I literally
started jumping up and down, y’all.
Literally. It has been my family’s
tradition for years to watch Home Alone on Christmas Eve (and a hundred other
times throughout the year as well) and we can all recite the entire movie pretty
much from start to finish. To see that
some genius has turned the movie into a kids’ storybook was almost too much for
me to handle. I promptly purchased two
copies (and FYI they’re $5 cheaper on Amazon) – one for my new nephew, and one
for our kids. I still can’t even believe
that this is a thing and I’m totally kicking myself for not thinking of it
first. We read it to our kids for the
first time last night and it was fantastic.
T W O – Olivia’s Braids
You may have
seen my post on Instagram yesterday about our little almost three-nager. Sigh.
This girl is killing me. Tantrums
for daaaays these days. Threes were by
far the worst for Jacob, and it’s looking like it’s going to be the same for
Olivia. But worse.
Lately, she’s
been really obsessed with her hair. She
tells me very specifically how she wants it styled each morning – down with a
bow, up in a bun, in a big ponytail, in a small braid (along the side of her
face) or in a big braid. These past
couple of weeks she’s been all about the braid.
A couple of mornings ago, she told me that she wanted a “big braid”
which basically means that she wants her entire hair in one single braid. Well, I braided it (and it was a damn good
looking braid if I do say so myself) and when I was done she proceeded to start
screaming, “A BIIIIG. BRAAAAID!!!!”
I was completely
clueless as to why she was melting down because I had done what she had asked
and it looked great, so I explained to her that I had styled her hair in one
big braid and that it looked beautiful.
She was not satisfied with my explanation, so she ended up ripping pieces
of her hair out of the rubber band while screaming her head off. Needless to say, she ended up going to school
looking like a hot mess because I was not about to fix it and reward her after
that behavior.
When she came
home from school that day, her hair was all tied up in the most perfect French
braid and she was as happy as a clam. So
I’m assuming BIG BRAID = FRENCH BRAID.
And I don’t even know how to French braid. Dang you, teachers! I guess I’m going to have to step up my hair
game. Sigh.
But just look
how stinking cute it is! LOVE.
T H R E E - Things Jacob is Thankful
for AKA His Christmas List
This
kid. He has been obsessed with writing
his Christmas wish list over and over again.
Each day when we get home from school, he asks for a piece of paper and
a marker so he can make a new list. And
he brought home his thankful leaves from Spanish class the other day, and what
do you know… he’s thankful for all of the things on his Christmas list. Haha.
And you guys,
look at his handwriting. OMG. How is that the handwriting of a
kindergartener?? Oh, and did I mention
that he doesn’t even ask for help with the spelling? He just sounds out the words and writes them
down all by himself. I am so proud of
him. I always knew that he was going to
be exceptional at spelling and reading and grammar, I just had no idea that he
would be so exceptional at such a young age.
F O U R – Beauty and the Beast
Have you seen
the new trailer for Beauty and the Beast yet?!
I cried. I actually cried when I
watched it. Beauty and the Beast has
always been my favorite Disney movie. It
came out when I was nine years old so I was at the perfect age for princesses
and love stories, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I still get chills when I hear the Celine
Dion and Peabo Bryson version of the song, which I just introduced Olivia to
recently.
It looks like
Disney is sticking straight to the original storyline and all of the details
are looking just like the original animated version. Emma Watson could not be more perfect to play
Belle, and I simply can’t wait to see it.
I only wish Olivia was old enough to share it with me.
F I V E – Wedding Recaps
In honor of
our upcoming wedding anniversary, I started recapping our wedding here on the
blog this week! I didn’t blog back when
we got married, and I have always wanted to have a recap as a keepsake. So far I have blogged about our Rehearsal & Rehearsal Dinner and the Wedding Planning & Details.
I will continue recapping over the next couple of months until it’s all
on here and I do hope you’ll follow along.
It was such a magical day, and I really mean it when I say that.
Finally,
before I go, don’t forget that I am co-hosting a giveaway with several of my
best blogger pals. We’re giving away
$150 CASH that you can use any way you please!!
Who doesn’t need a little bit of extra cash this time of year?? If you haven’t already entered, head here and
get busy! It only takes a minute!
Happy
weekend! XO

DeleteOh that Home Alone book! We need that ASAP! My kids LOVE that movie!!
ReplyDeleteI love Olivia's braid! Ella is 9 and we still battle the clothes, shoes, hair....every morning!
I love Jacob's list! I have also loved all your wedding recaps! Such a beautiful bride! oh and Beauty and the Beast! Can't WAIT!!
Happy Friday! We will be at the game tomorrow cheering on our DAWGS!!
Thank you, Heather! You definitely need that Home Alone book if your kiddos love Home Alone. It is GREAT! And I saw that you guys had a great time at the game this weekend! I hope you have a great week!
DeleteTarget is the BEST!!! Always killing it! Jacob's Christmas list is adorable. Loving your wedding recaps. :) Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI cried when I watched the Beauty and the Beast trailer too! Can't wait for it! WOW Jacobs handwriting is soooo good. Bless his heart, so proud!! Been fun this week reading about your wedding. I hope you have a sensational weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Andrea! I'm glad you're enjoying reading. I have several more posts lined up, but I'm spreading them out so everyone doesn't get burned out on wedding stuff! Haha.
DeleteThat book!! I love Jacob's Thankful leaves! His writing...oh my word! So, so good!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the trailer yet!!! Best not watch it at work though, I feel like these days I cry at a drop of a hat and that would be a bit embarrassing. :) Learning to french braid is super easy - you can do it!
ReplyDeleteWow I am so impressed with Jacob's handwriting! He writes neater than some of my 7th graders!! And I second Emily, french braiding isn't really that hard! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteSarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
Loving your photos! Those braids are on point, and I totally agree about Target - except why oh why are all the dollar spots so different? It makes me feel like I need to hit up every Target around so I don't miss out on anything. Happy almost anni!
ReplyDeleteA Home Alone book! I need to find that asap. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome! And you can find it on Amazon!
DeleteThat Christmas list is perfection. Seriously, how special and adorable is that?! And oh my goodness, that handwriting? He has better penmanship than me, that's for sure!! You go, Jacob!!
ReplyDeleteOh and giiiiiiiiiirl, I am right there with you with Beauty and the Beast! I'm so excited, I could pee my pants! Yup. I said it. Bahaha! Belle is my absolute favorite and when we went to Disney earlier this year, I turned back into my nine year-old self when I saw Belle, Gaston, and the Beast!
Ok, I so need that Home Alone book stat!! And I hear ya on the treenager stuff, Olivia sounds alot like Ella. I swear that girl throws the craziest fits for absolutely nothing. I cannot wait to see Beauty and the Beast, I think Brayden would actually enjoy it so I'm sure I'll bring him!
ReplyDeleteI love Jacob's little handwriting!! So cute!! It is super neat for how young he is!!
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it crazy? For the longest time he hated writing or coloring or anything like that and his fine motor skills were really lacking. He has definitely come a long way!
DeleteAs a kindergarten teacher, I am WOWED at Jacob's handwriting! How fun is that Home Alone Book. I am also excited for Beauty and the Beast. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenna! His handwriting has come a long way in the last year! He used to HATE writing and coloring, but now he loves it. It makes me so happy!
DeleteTarget dollar spot gets me every time! I have a trip planned there tonight and I know I'll come home with more than I probably need. Home Alone is the best! We watch it a ridiculous amount of times and for us it all starts with watching it on Thanksgiving night. Jacob has such nice handwriting! Have a great weekend! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI want that Home Alone book for my girls. Thank you for the suggestion. I love Olivia's hair in the big braid. So cute, but what a little stinker for throwing a fit like that. My girls have fits like that too. It is awful. Sutton had a major one last night. Toddlers I tell you. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid Target...but it gets me every single time!! The other night I went for milk and eggs, should have been a quick trip, right? Well I took SO long that my husband got worried and called to see if I was okay (it was also raining pretty bad that night.) Needless to say, I walked out with MORE than just milk and eggs...
ReplyDeleteI loved your post from yesterday, you guys had a gorgeous wedding! And I'm so glad you found the dress of your dreams. I still get a little down thinking about Jessica and Nick's divorce...I loved their show!
Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!
xo, Lily
Beauty With Lily
I seriously always thought the odd years were the worst for my kids behavior wise. Raising my last tween...I can make it. :)
ReplyDeleteLoving Olivia's hair, such a great idea! Target continues to win everything, especially this time of year! Happy Friday gurlie <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Eek, there's a Home Alone book?!?! How did I not know about this? Already added to my Amazon list, hehe. Love it. And, Jacob's handwriting is unreal! Seriously, it is better than my husband's and he would be the first to tell you, haha. Happy Friday Linds!
ReplyDeleteWe have a little lady who has very particular taste on what I do with her hair too and doesn't love bows anymore - sigh! Also we love HOME ALONE here along with Christmas Vacation!
ReplyDeletehaha my legs walk themselves to the dollar spot all too often! That is so cool the made a Home Alone Children's book! That was my family's Christmas movie too, I need this for my kiddos! I literally felt like I was reading about my own life with the braids! My Mia is 4 now but damn she knows what she wants and those teachers and their braiding skills make us all look bad! Go Jacob! That is impressive! I looove that you are going back and posting about your weddding! I too was not blogging when we got married and had been thinking about writing a post, you have inspired me!
ReplyDeletep.s Stopping by from zahners.wordpress.com ! :)
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words, Bruna, and thank you for stopping by! I'm so glad to hear that I have inspired you... hopefully you will enjoy taking a trip down memory lane and recapping your own wedding. It's made me so happy recapping mine!
DeleteBeauty and the Beast was my favorite as well! I cannot wait to see it! And your kindergsrtener's hand writing is way better than my kindergartener's! That's awesome! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteOMG Jacobs spelling and handwriting-he is only in kindergarten?! That is amazing. Olivia's braid isn't just the cutest-hope her attitude calms down a bit ;-) And the Beauty and the Beast trailer is breathtaking-it's my favorite too! I am dying to go back to Disney World because I have to see the castle!
ReplyDeleteThe "big braid" does look beautiful! So funny that Jacob is thankful for all of the things on his Christmas list. I cracked up at that. And he really is a good speller and writer! Wow! I'm super impressed he knew how to spell Darth Vader! Hope you guys are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteJacobs spelling and writing is SERIOUSLY impressive. Most kids only spell phonetically which makes for some serious mistakes and a lot of humor too. You have one very bright boy on your hands. That braid is ADORABLE too. I suck at french braiding :/.
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all are having the best weekend!
I can not wait to see Beauty and the Beast! It's my favorite Disney movie.
ReplyDeleteOkay…I frequent Target a few times a week and I have not seen those cocktail books! Our Target is holding out. What is that shiny gold thing? Home Alone the book? Shut the front door! Mason and I love Home Alone. We watched it yesterday! I have got to find this. Olivia’s braids are adorable! Wait, Jacob has a Spanish class in Kindergarten? That’s so cool! His handwriting is pretty impressive!
