Oh, what a
weekend! Can we just go back, please?
B and I kicked
off the weekend with a day off Friday.
We dropped the kids at school and spent the entire day together, just
the two of us. We started the day with cinnamon
crunch bagels at Panera with a side of salted caramel mocha from Starbs for
me. We headed to Target next, where, I
kid you not, we spent almost two hours! We
got most of the Christmas shopping finished up for the kids already... this
might be the earliest ever that I can say that!
We also picked up some Christmas PJs for both of them, as well as a
couple of other gifts. And I couldn’t
have looked more like a #BasicWhiteGirl with my leggings and Starbucks inside
Target, so, of course, I had to get B to document it. #Represent
After Target,
we headed to one of our main shopping centers to hit up Bed, Bath, &
Beyond, Pier One, and Bath & Body Works for more Christmas shopping. I bought the CUTEST Christmas placemats at
Pier One for our formal dining room and I can’t wait to share them with you in
my Christmas home tour in early December!!
Bath & Body
Works didn’t disappoint either. You may
have seen my post on Instagram about the lotion that I purchased… I’ve been
burning the Champagne Toast candle every New Year’s Eve for the last couple of
years around NYE and when I was in the store, I noticed that they now have it
in lotion and spray, too! It smells SO. GOOD. If you haven’t already seen it, you should
check it out! They also have a new scent
called Magic in the Air, which also smelled divine, and I had to take a picture
of the display because it was just so darn pretty. ;o)
Lunch at
Chipotle was next, followed by seeing the new movie Arrival. I had never even heard of it, but B wanted to
see it, and y’all, I LOVED it. When it
was over, B and I discussed because we had some unanswered questions, but I
think between the two of us, we managed to understand it completely. You should definitely add this to your must
see list!
After the movie
we still had some time to spare before picking up the kiddos, so we made a stop
at Kohl’s where we ended up getting some of the best bargains I think I’ve ever
gotten in my life! They had a HUGE
Veterans Day sale going on, plus I had a ton of coupons (which they let you
stack) so we ended up loading up on more Christmas gifts for practically
nothing. One of the shirts I purchased
was originally $49.99, and we got it for $5.65!! We also bought a couple of picture frames
that were normally $24.99 each, and we got them both for $2.71 each. I mean, what?! It was seriously better than Black Friday.
After we
emptied Kohl’s of all of its merchandise, we picked up each of the kids,
grabbed a pizza, and headed home for an evening in.
Saturday
morning we were up bright and early, we dropped the babies off with my parents,
and we headed to Athens with two of our friends for the Georgia/Auburn
game. We got up there around lunchtime
and headed straight to our favorite restaurant, Transmetropolitan, for drinks
and lunch. After lunch we did a little
shopping and a little touring around, and we of course, stopped in one of our
favorite areas of campus to snap a few pictures before heading into the
stadium.
When we
arrived, I met up with one of my friends and coworkers to say hi, and then we
headed to our seats. Hi, Adrienne!
The pregame
show was spectacular as they did a few special things for Veterans Day. The end zone under the jumbotron formed a big
American flag during the National Anthem, and then two fighter jets flew over
when it was over. Always a treat.
Clockwise - Chicago Cubs pitcher and UGA grad Justin Grimm, UGA grad Hines Ward, and UGA Grad Champ Bailey were all in attendance. |
The game was yet
another nail biter. We are not currently
ranked as we’ve had a rebuilding season (we have a new coach and a new QB this
year) and Auburn was ranked #9, so I think most of us had expected to get
whooped, but we held our own… even despite the couple of REALLY bad calls (or
lack thereof) by the refs early in the game.
I mean, it was absurd.
During
halftime, I was browsing Instagram, and I noticed that Jess from The Newly had
posted a picture from nearly the exact same vantage point that we had in the
stadium, so I started scouring the crowd, and lo and behold, she was just eight
rows in front of us! I sent her a quick
message and we were able to wave at each other just before halftime ended. And may I say that it’s kind of surreal
seeing someone in person who you have only met via the internet… it was almost
like spotting a famous person.
Haha! Jess, next time we will have
to meet up for sure! XO
Anyhoo, when
halftime was just about over, they started playing some super crunk music in
the stadium and the crowd was dancing like crazy while watching the boys dance
down on the sidelines. It was just the
boost everyone needed, and the excitement in the stadium was palpable. At the start of the fourth quarter, our band
always plays the superman theme song, and everyone in the crowd holds up four
fingers (because, fourth quarter) during the song. Well, on this night, everyone in the stadium
turned on their cell phone flashlights and held them up during the song, and it
was so awesome. The stadium was
completely lit up! I took several
pictures, none of which do it any justice, but here they are anyway.
We were able to
hold Auburn to only 32 yards in the entire second half resulting in a win for
us of 13-7. Whew. The Georgia Auburn rivalry is one of the
oldest rivalries in the south, and it’s always my very favorite game of the
entire season, so beating them pretty much redeemed our entire season for me
since we knocked them out of the top ten and also crushed their chance to make
it to the SEC Championship game.
#RollTide (And you will NOT hear me say that very often.)
After the game,
we were all on a high as we walked back to the car, and the crowd was chanting
our fight songs all the way back to the car.
Sweet, sweet victory.
We stopped at
Applebee’s in Monroe on the way home, and it was about the worst dining
experience any of the four of us have ever had.
I could write five pages on our experience, but to summarize, two
different waitresses tried delivering the wrong things to our table, our
mozzarella sticks were delivered to the table behind us and the people kept them, our food took forever and then when it
finally came out, we were missing half of it plus a couple of things we did get were wrong. Our original waitress went completely MIA so
three different people including another waitress, the hostess, and a manager
all came out to write down what we were missing, and we still never received any of it, so 30 minutes later our original
waitress came back and asked if we were doing OK and we were all like, “No, no
we’re not. Nothing has been corrected.” So she proceeds to say, “I can write down
what you’re missing and check on it.” We
were like, “THREE FREAKING PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN IT DOWN TO CHECK ON IT
AND WE STILL DON’T HAVE IT!” (But don't worry, we didn't actually say it like that because we are all generally pretty nice people. If we had lost to Auburn, it might have been a different story. Haha.)
We finally
ended up getting our missing cheese sticks, but were told that the soup that
Randi had ordered was still frozen (WTH?), and then when they brought our check
it was totally wrong. The manager never
came back to check on us and neither did anyone else. It was freaking unbelievable. The four of us seriously thought we were in
the Twilight Zone.
The waitress
ended up getting our food discounted by around 50% and we hightailed it outta
there as fast as we could after that. We
ended up being there for TWO HOURS.
And they weren’t
even busy.
Sigh.
Sunday morning
we were reunited with our babies and we spent the morning watching the Curious
George Christmas special. I also may
have taken down our fall stuff and started putting up Christmas. EEK!
For lunch, we
took the kids to Jason’s Deli, and then we spent the afternoon at the
playground.
Sunday evening
was spent with my parents and it was just an allaround fantastic weekend. I wish they could all be this amazing!

What a fun weekend (minus the Applebees experience, yikes!) Day dates are just perfect-isn't it funny how running errands on a week day without kids feels so special? Also I totally noticed you and Jess both posted game pictures, and actually had it cross my mind if you were at the same place. Such a small world!!
ReplyDeleteCould you and your husband be more adorable?! So glad you guys got a day-date. I am jealous! I really want to see Arrival too. I've heard it is good. Have an awesome week Linds.

ReplyDeleteWow. Yay for a Friday day date. You are on top of it for Christmas shopping. I need to up my game and start ordering and shopping around. ha. I did talk to my mother-in-law about gifts for the girls and got settled on what we are getting them. I need to find that lotion and candle stat. I am so sorry that you had an awful experience after the game, but lucky that the Dawgs won. So cool that you saw Jess there!! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat really does sound like the best weekend! So glad your team won! I know how a loss can seriously ruin an entire weekend lol! Bummer about Applebee's. We have two near our house -- one is awesome and one is HORRIBLE! I wonder if the Kohl's sale is still going on. I might have to stop in at our Kohl's and see -- I still need a LOT of Christmas presents.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend. The atmosphere at a college game is something you just have to experience. When we got to OSU I feel so young and full of engery... not like the tired Momma that I am ;)
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds like it was fantastic!! So jealous of your date day with your hubby! :)
ReplyDeleteIt really was! And our date day was much needed. It's always good to reconnect and be able to have conversations where we're not getting interrupted every 30 seconds. Hehe.
DeleteWhat a great weekend! Day dates are always welcomed. I need to get to a bath and body works NOW!!
