Happy
Tuesday! I was off yesterday for
Columbus Day and what a glorious day it was!
Brian had to work and both of the kids had school, so I had an entire day
just for me. That pretty much never
happens anymore! But before I recap
yesterday, I’ll start from the beginning…
Friday evening
B had to work all evening, so the kids and I snagged some Chick-Fil-A on the
way home from school, and then we spent the evening in the back yard because
the weather was incredible. Hurricane
Matthew had brought in quite a breeze, and some cooler weather along with it,
and we were some of the lucky ones to not receive the nasty weather from
it. We did, however, get some crazy cloud
coverage which resulted in a stunning sunset.
One of the most stunning sunsets that I have ever seen. These pictures don’t remotely do it justice.
The babies blew
bubbles, which looked like little bubble tornadoes since the wind was so crazy,
and I gawked at the sunset for the majority of the evening.
We went inside
once it got dark, and we finished up the homemade Apple Cinnamon Muffins that
we had started for Saturday morning breakfast, and then it was off to bed for
the little ones. Right before bed, Jacob said, "Look, Mommy, I spelled camera!" I love seeing what kids come up with when they're learning to spell!
Just when I was
about to settle in with a glass of merlot and finally start watching Gilmore
Girls, B came home a bit earlier than expected, so I traded in my wine for a
Moscow Mule and my Gilmore Girls for some Friday Night Lights and Shark
Tank. I wasn’t mad about it. Well, maybe a little... I have GOT to watch
Gilmore Girls!!!!
Saturday
morning was spent painting Olivia’s little fingernails and toenails, doing
loads and loads of laundry, and picking out clothes for our fall family photo
shoot in a couple of weeks. I always
like to pick them out early in case I need to shop for something in particular
for someone. Fortunately, we had
everything that we need, and I found some good combinations. I was having some trouble deciding among
scarves for my outfit, and then I just decided to scrap my original outfit and
trade it in for my beloved black and white striped skirt that I wore for
Christmas Eve mass a couple of years ago.
I’m still not completely settled on it, though, so I thought that I
would ask you lovely ladies your opinions… should I go with the black and white
striped swing dress with one of those scarves (and if so, which scarf?) or
should I go with the red shirt and black and white skirt? I’m torn.
In the early
evening, we headed to church, where the babies were complete angels (always nice)
and then we stopped by Chick-Fil-A (for the second time this weekend – woops)
for a quick dinner before heading out to our friends’ house for a party
celebrating my friend, Randi’s, birthday.
Before heading
out there, we grabbed a few bags of Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookies to take
with us to the party. And if you’ve
never had a Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookie, then drop what you’re doing
immediately, head to the nearest CFA (never mind if it’s an hour away) and
order a couple dozen. Because they are
the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever eat. Ever.
They even warm them up before serving them to you. Ever had a chocolate chip cookie from a
Doubletree Hotel? They are every single
bit as good as those… or maybe even better.
Just trust me and go get some.
Anyhoo, we
arrived at our friends’ house around 7:30 and spent the rest of the night over
there. They had quite a full house! We played this new game called Speak Out and
it was RIDICULOUS, you guys! I laughed
so hard that my abs are still hurting today.
The game comes with those mouth trays that you wear while getting your
teeth whitened at the dentist, and they open your mouth really wide, so
everybody looks absurd and downright scary when they’re wearing them. Haha.
You have to say these phrases on cards and get your teammates to guess
what you’re saying. It was so much fun,
but the trays really hurt your lips so keep some Chapstick nearby if you do
play.
While the
adults played and enjoyed our adult beverages, the kids all played together as
well. Did I mention that there were,
like, 15-20 of them? Needless to say,
our kiddos had a complete blast and they were both completely whooped by the
time we got home at 10:30. So late for
them!
And may I also
mention that parties at their house have changed quite a lot now that we’ve all
had babies. They used to look like this:
And now they
look a little more like this:
Haha.
Sunday was
spent trying (and failing) to take family OOTD pics in our GA gear and having lunch at my mother-in-law’s and enjoying the gorgeous weather
outside in their back yard. Jacob jumped
on the trampoline and played football with Poppie, and Olivia dug in the garden
and enjoyed looking at all of the flowers and fruits and veggies. My MIL sent us home with a big ol’ bag of
green peppers and a couple of bags of lettuce, so I will be having some extra
yummy salads this week.
Our Georgia
game was originally supposed to have been played Saturday evening, but due to
Hurricane Matthew they had to delay the game.
It was played in SC on Sunday, so we spent the afternoon watching the
game before heading to my parents’ house for Sunday dinner.
As I mentioned
at the beginning of my post, I was off yesterday, so I spent the day doing
exactly what I wanted when I wanted. And
it was glorious.
And thank you all for your sweet comments on Friday about keeping us in your thoughts during Hurricane Matthew. As I stated before, we weren't hit at all here (we only had a lot of the wind from it, but no rain), but we had some family in Florida and South Carolina. All of them are safe and experienced minimal damage, although my SIL in South Carolina was without power for several days. Also, my aunt and uncle who live here also have a vacation home in Hilton Head, SC, and apparently it got hit really hard. At this time they don't know the extent of the damage as the city is not allowing anyone in yet to check it out, but I think they are bracing themselves for the worst. Thank goodness everyone was able to evacuate!
I hope you all enjoy your week... I'm excited that mine is short! Happy Tuesday!!

What a great weekend! I see nothing wrong with having CFA twice. I might just do that this week. :) Yay for getting so much accomplished on Monday. Those days when you can really focus and just work are awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat sunset = WOW! So pretty! I love the red scarf with the swing dress, but then the black and white skirt is super cute, too. Those are my top picks. :) Sounds like a day to yourself is just what you needed!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pictures and the fact that you got a day all to yourself!!!! Yay!! You need that mama. Your closet looks great and two of my favorite pics...your lil Bulldogs and Olivia blowing her nails dry...so sweet. Too funny that is the progression of my party pics too...young girl costumes and college days to mom pics and I wouldn't want it any other way!! Have a great "short" week!!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteYes, Olivia was cracking me up blowing her nails. I didn't even tell her to do it! She is such a little diva... we're in trouble. Haha.
DeleteAnd thank you, Andrea! You have a great short week, too!
The sunsets are just beautiful. Thinking if your aunt & uncle! Do they have any idea when they will be able to get back in?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend!! I love the outfits you picked so so much and honestly I can't really pick which I like better!! First I think the swing dress, then the skirt and then I go back and forth again, LOL. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I'm so jealous of your day off! It sounds like you got accomplished, I love those days! And such good news about your friends and family and the hurricane, except for your aunt and uncles vaca house, hopefully it's not as bad as they think!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome weekend. You always have such fun weekend and a 3 day one at that. You lucky, lucky girl. That game looks freakin hilarious. I bet it made your face hurt too. Thinking of your Aunt and Uncle. That wait has to be so stinking hard.
ReplyDeleteAlso those outfits. I see why you are torn. They are all fantastic. I think I am leaning towards the swing dress though. As to which scarf...?!?!
DeleteOMG i've been wanting to play that game forever! Looks like a blast of a weekend! XO Ellen from Ask Away

Your sunset pictures are beautiful!! Also I love all of the outfits selections. Picking out family picture outfits is so stressful!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessica! And yes, it can definitely be stressful! I think the most stressful part is going to be making sure that the kids do what they're supposed to do for the pictures. Haha.
DeleteI think you should go with the black and white skirt with red shirt. Love the colors you choose for your family photos. I need to get working on mine now. Those are beautiful sunset photos. So glad you had a day to yourself yesterday. Those are always the best!!!
ReplyDeleteGame night with adult beverages is always a great idea, and so is Chic Fil A! Those muffins look delish, and yay for a Monday off all to yourself. Cheers to a fabulous week <3

The black and white skirt with red shirt really stood out to me more! And you can't go wrong with Chick-Fil-A anything...although I've never had their cookies! Now I HAVE to get one, or two, next time I'm there. I am obsessed with their nuggets and Chick-fil-a sauce! Glad you had a day to yourself!

Alright, I REALLY love everything about this weekend. So cute seeing how your group of friends has grown with one another. I wish we had that long term friendship with people here. Love both outfits. I'm no help, haha! I guess the skirt is a tad more striking, but both are lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun long weekend! I have never had a CFA cookie, so I think I need to fix that asap! That Speak Out game looks hilarious. So fun how parties have changed!
ReplyDeleteThree day weekends are the best! I personally love the striped skirt and red shirt. To me, it makes it look like the boys outfits match, the girls outfits match, and then they all coordinate together!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the advice, Brandi! I think that's the combo that I'm leaning toward, too!
DeleteI was totally going to say I like outfit #2 for family pictures best until I saw that bunny costume from Halloween Past. I totally think you just rock that for the Christmas Card...ya, know have the PTA ladies talking! Ha!! But, seriously, all the outfit options are adorable!
ReplyDeleteChick-fil-a chocolate chip cookies are to die for! I had never had one until like a year ago. Wow! They're amazing!
What a great weekend. We often go to CFA twice in a weekend or we have been known to go to CFA twice in one day!! HA.
ReplyDeleteI love all your outfits but I'm loving the black and white skirt!
Can't wait to see your pictures.
Haha, I hear ya! You just can't go wrong with it! It's SO GOOD.
DeleteAnd thank you for the advice for pictures! I think I'm leaning toward that skirt!
That sunset looks amazing! What a perfect start to a long weekend! Those outfits are all cute! I think my favorite is the first one though. I can't wait to see/hear what you pick. Also, a day off and to yourself?! The stuff dreams are made of. haha. I'm glad you had a day on your own :)
ReplyDeleteSo awesome you were off for Columbus Day. I think my job needs to add that to our list of holidays. I mean, we are a mail marketing company and mail doesn’t run on that day, so….haha! Those sky pictures are amazing. The colors are gorgeous! God is so good! I’m on season 5 of Gilmore Girls. I’ve been trying to space it out before the new ones come out, but I just want to binge watch like crazy. I love the outfits you picked out. I think they will look great in pictures! Looks like a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous that you had off for Columbus day! Those sunset shots are stunning! I love the outfits you have picked out for your photos! I personally like the dress with the white scarf, but you really can't go wrong with any of the combos you have shown!
