Five on Friday - Whatever Pops into My Little Head

Another week where I had another post in mind, but no time to formulate it.  Because of that, you’re about to get all of the random little things that pop into my head!

O N E – New Coffee Maker at Work

One of my co-workers had a Mr. Coffee maker that she doesn’t use at home anymore, so she brought it to work for all of us to use.  It’s one of the ones that uses the K-Cups so we can each brew single cups of whatever flavored coffee that our little hearts desire.

I’ve worked here for twelve years and everyone has always just shared an industrial grade coffee maker, and all that has ever been made is plain Folgers caffeinated coffee.  #NoThanks  First of all, I only drink fancy flavored coffees with lots of cream, and second of all, I don’t do caffeine.  Trust me.  It’s not pretty.  Therefore, I have never once had a sip of coffee at work.  That’s why I always stick with my green tea and local honey each morning.

But this thing?  Changes everything.  And right in the middle of fall?  Game on!

Please tell me your favorite brands/flavors of K-Cups if you use them!!  Fall flavors most welcome!  ;o)

T W O – Pinterest

Once upon a time in the year of 2011 I started a Pinterest account.  I had about 100 or so followers for several years (all people who I knew personally), and then I started a blog.  Well, even though Pinterest has always been a huge source of traffic for me due to a few pins from Olivia’s first birthday party going viral, I have never focused on growing my following on there.  As a matter of fact, I never even paid attention to the number of followers that I had on there until just recently.

So you can imagine my surprise when a couple of weeks ago I realized that I have over 800 followers and now I'm around 950.  Where the heck are they all coming from?!

But anyhoo, if you want to find me on there, you can click here.  I pin lots of recipes, fashion ideas, decorating ideas, fall stuff, and parenting stuff... and feel free to pin all of the pins from my Lindsay’s Sweet World Blog board while you’re at it!  ;o)

I'm looking to follow some new people as well and I would love to follow all of you ladies from blogland... come find me!

T H R E E – Flu Shots

Our little family was supposed be protected against the flu as of yesterday evening, but we had a slight mishap at the doctor's office.  When we arrived, they took both kids' temperatures just to make sure that neither of them were running a fever because they can't give them the shot if they are.  The nurse stuck the thermometer under Jacob's arm and announced that he had a temp of 101.3.  I was like, "I'm sorry, what?"  She then stuck the thermometer under his other arm and said that the temp on that side was 99.8 or something like that.  I was completely baffled.

He hasn't run a fever in ages, nor was he acting like he felt bad, nor did he have that sick glassy look in his eyes that he usually gets when he's coming down with something, so I asked her if it was possible to try to take his temp with a different thermometer because I just couldn't believe it.  She humored me (and I totally felt like one of those moms who always thinks they know best) and she came up with 99.6.  Dang!

Soooo, Olivia ended up getting her flu shot, and Jacob left without.  All evening he kept saying he felt fine, but we could tell he was exhausted.  I took his temp with our temporal thermometer and it read 101.4 on one side and 99.8 on the other.

As I type this it's Thursday night, so I'm praying for no fever Friday morning.  Brian has a huge project at work and I have to tie up loose ends at work as we're closed Monday for Columbus Day.  Sigh.  Fingers crossed that it's just a fluke and everyone is well to go to school and work.  #LifeOfAWorkingMomSucksSometimes

F O U R – Fall Leaves

I posted this picture on Instagram a few days ago, but I wanted to bring it up on the ol’ blog as well.  Fall leaves make me so happy.  And even though it may not be feeling too much like fall around these parts, it’s definitely starting to look like fall.  Just look at those vibrant colors!  I could not love this time of year any more than I already do! God sure is the ultimate artist!

F I V E – Hurricane Matthew

We live in Georgia, fortunately not right on the coast, so we are very blessed to not be in the direct path of Hurricane Matthew.  We do have family in Florida (who has evacuated) and we also have family in South Carolina (who did not evacuate) so we have been glued to the news like much of America these past few days.  Everyone in its path, please stay safe and know that we are praying for you.  <3

  4. I never drink our coffee at work either for the exact same reason! Since you are not a big coffee drinker you can also find some great teas that are in kcups. Hope everyone stays healthy this weekend!

  5. There are also some tea K-cups, although I don't see them in stores as much. I tried a couple that came with our old Keurig and they weren't bad.

  7. Yay for a new coffee maker! I have no input on k-cups though - I actually got rid of my Keurig and got a plain old coffee maker because I was tired of buying the cups.

I am really hoping Jacob woke up fine today!!

And also, I'll keep all your family in my thoughts! I have a couple friends who are in Orlando right now too, I'm glued to the tv as well!

  8. Following you now on pinterest. I have to say, pinterest is probably the social media account I pay the least attention to, but I should step my game up. I love fall leaves too but ours haven't really changed yet. Thinking of everyone affected by Matthew, I hope your family is safe. Beautifully Candid

  12. I wish we had a coffee maker like that in my office. We have the industrial one and I may have overflowed it the other day - let's just say kitchen appliances weren't my thing this week.

  13. Praying for your family in FL. So crazy. This storm is massive and deadly. Love that you have a fancy coffee machine at work. I wish we did. Give me all the fall flavors. I really hope Jacob isn't getting sick. So crazy that he was running a fever when you went. We get our flu shots on Monday. wish us luck. Have a great weekend!

  14. Your co-worker is awesome! I can't do caffine either, it triggers my anxiety. I hope Jacob loses his fever soon. That will really stink if he gets sick. There's nothing worse than the feeling you get when your kiddos don't feel well. I hope you have a good weekend and that your family is safe.

I hope your family stays safe. My grandma is in Florida as well, but she's only getting some wind and rain where she is. What a relief.
