Olivia’s still
teething which means – grumps – and she’s been crying out during the night, so
we’ve been awakened intermittently almost every night this week. Work has been, well, work. And on top of it all I
decided to go on a purging spree and have spent every evening cleaning out
every single toy that the kids own.
I am whooped.
Friday, I
welcome you with open arms!
I didn’t really
have time to come up with a theme for this week’s five, so I’d like to call
today’s post What’s in Lindsay’s Camera
Roll.
O N E – New Office Décor
I stopped in TJ
Maxx earlier this week on a whim and as usual I wanted to buy all of the house décor. They have the cutest baskets, wall hangings,
organizers, and trinkets. Every time I
go in there I want to redecorate my entire house. Does anyone else feel that way about trends
right now? Everything just keeps getting
better and better! Anyway, I found this
gold New York trinket and thought it would be perfect in my office. I already have a black one that says London,
so maybe I should start a collection of city names? Hmmmm…
T W O – Day Date With My Boo
This is Jacob’s
last week before he starts kindergarten and his day camp is closed so the
teachers can start getting their classrooms ready, so Brian, his dad, and I have
been rotating staying with him all week.
Tuesday was my day with him and we got to spend the whole day together,
just the two of us! He requested to go
to Chuck E. Cheese’s (naturally) so we spent a good portion of the morning
there. Luckily it wasn’t very busy, so
the whole experience was a lot less obnoxious than it usually is. He got the high score on two of the games
which resulted in 49 tickets (such a strange quantity) on one and 25 on the
other for a grand total of 110 tickets when we combined them with all of the
onesies and twosies from the other games.
He was ecstatic and he happily picked out a pack of skittles for 50
tickets, a pair of plastic vampire teeth for 50 tickets, and a tootsie roll for
10 tickets. What we could have bought at
the store for a total of less than $1 cost me $10… but we did have lots of fun in
the process!
After Chuck E.
Cheese’s we met Brian at Chipotle, and it was Jacob’s very first time going. B and I meet there all the time for lunch,
but we’ve never taken the kids. He had a
cheese quesadilla, pinto beans, rice, and an orange and he said that he loved
it. Guess we have a new place to throw
into the Friday evening rotation. ;o)
After lunch, B
went back to work and J and I stopped by Bath & Body Works to load up on
soap while it was on sale. When I walked
in I was greeted by this.
Swoon.
So instead of
walking out with just the soap that I went for, I walked out with a birthday
gift of fall scents for a friend, and a free one for me! ;o) Oh, and soap. I got the soap.
We spent the
rest of the day putting the finishing touches on his room, and I’m hoping to
get it photographed sometime next week for the home tour… I’m now just waiting
on some pictures I had printed for some frames on his wall… a last minute
change that he and I both decided on.
T H R E E – Purging
I mentioned
earlier that I have been cleaning out every single thing that the kids own this
week. Redecorating Jacob’s room gave me
the kick in the pants that I needed to get it started and now I’m just trying to
get it finished up before they undo the progress I have already made. I have literally touched every single toy in
our house this week and have made the decision whether to keep it, donate it,
or trash it. It is absolutely sinful how
many toys they have, and we will be donating three massive trash bags to our
church outreach center in the next week or so.
I feel lighter just thinking about it!
F O U R – Jacob’s Constant Companion
Speaking of
Jacob, I just had to snap this picture yesterday morning while we were getting ready
for school and work. This boy. He does not go anywhere without a Hot Wheels car these days. And most days he carries several. He likes to save the plastic trays that come
in the boxes when you buy a five-pack so he can carry multiple cars around at
once. On this day, they joined him while
he brushed his teeth. I just love him.
F I V E – Fun with Snapchat Filters
Well friends,
our kids have officially turned into technology junkies. Every evening after their baths now, they
want to play with Snapchat. We’ve taken
many, many pictures this week and I think this is going to become a part of
their bedtime routine. Haha.
Cheers to pretty
(and just plain weird) Snapchat filters and cheers to the weekend!!
*Linking up with A Liz Adventures and Carolina Charm for Five on Friday, A Little Bit of Everything for Friday Favorites, September Farm and The Farmer's Wife for Oh Hey, Friday, Meet @ the Barre for Friday Favorites, Cup of Tea for High Five for Friday, and Our Pretty Little Girls for Rewind Friday!

ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you're spending so much time with Jacob before Kindergarten starts. I bet he is loving that!
Don't go if you're too tempted by fall stuff! I wanted to buy so much more, but I refrained. For now. Haha. Have a great weekend, Stef!!
DeleteNow I need to go to Bath and Body Works. We need soap! I love the time you've spent with Jacob. How special. And I know what you mean about MAtchbox cars. They are all over my house because Cam takes them everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI'm having to hold myself back from going into BBW! I try telling my husband that we need more candles and I need to stock up on fall scents so I can be prepared but he's not buying it haha! Love the snapchat filters! I babysat a friend's son last night and he had a blast playing on snapchat.

3 bags of toys is so awesome!!! Love that you are donating them to your church program, too! That fall sign has me so excited, too. Too bad I told myself this month would be a no spend month!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't a good purge just make you feel so good. I cleaned out my closet last winter getting rid of 100+ items and it felt amazing. I haven't missed a thing I got rid of either. We need to tackle the toys sometime soon too. I hope your weekend is great!
ReplyDeleteOh i need to stop in and get some of those foaming soaps - they are my favorite!! I'm sorry it's been a hectic week - hopefully you have a relaxing weekend!! xo, biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond ready for the weekend, too! Teething stinks! Little babe and I love doing Snapchat filters too! Happy weekend!! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Brandi!!
DeleteAhhh! I need a good purge of toys over here. I sometimes feel as if I get rid of lots of stuff only to find more stuff magically appear again. How does that happen?! I need to head on over to BBWs! Soap makes everything better...that and coffee...and wine... ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the BBW Fall Line! I will definitely be stocking up on candles here shortly!

Happy Friday! Hang in there with the teething it's definitely not fun! We're going through the same thing with our little guy. How funny, my husband took our boys to Chuck E. Cheese for the time when I was away last week. They loved it and A hasn't stopped talking about going back. Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI love how a 'prize' bought with tickets costs an arm and a leg in the end! And too funny how little ones carry around toys at all times-we have a Thomas the Train currently attached at the moment!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we went through a Thomas phase!! That is just so sweet! I hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteHaha I have never used Snapchat, but I love their filters. So cute and weird. I need to stop in Bath and Body Works this weekend now that their fall scents are out. I have a fall candle that I am hoping will be back this year. It's brown and I think it is called Leaves. The best. So cute that Jacob carries his Hot Wheels around. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThere is something so therapeutic about purging old junk! I hope that helps lessen the stress of a teething toddle :( have a great weekend! gg
ReplyDeletewww.makinamama.com
YES! I feel so much lighter, more productive, and happier with less junk around. Not to mention it's less to worry about tripping over. Hehe. Have a great weekend, girl!
DeleteI love TJMaxx! Thankfully ours is out of the way for me, so I often forget about it. Saves me! Haha! Your kiddos looked like they had fun with the filters. Haha! Hope y'all have a great weekend!

I love all the trends right now too! But we are out of shelf/display space in our little town house so I have been cut off! That New York trinket is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is so inspiring! I love the post:)

Thanks so much, Irene!
DeleteLOL, so I read that 4th one as Jacob constant constipation...LOL. Then did a double take and was like what the what?! Oh...totally read that one wrong! so cute, and Want to come purge our toys...seriously it's overload over here too!
ReplyDeleteOMG I need to purge our toys too, it's ridiculous! I love that Jacob brings his hot wheels everywhere, that's just like Brayden!! And yay for spending the day with Jacob, that is so fun! Brayden and Ella love snapchat too, it's so funny to see theirs!
ReplyDeleteI need to do a toy purge so badly. I can even just store some of it in the basement and switch it out, but it needs to get out of our living room, hahaha. LOVE Jacob's bathroom mirror photos. What a handsome dude.
ReplyDeleteSo cute about Jacob and the Hot Wheels cars!! Hope you guys had a relaxing weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I love that Jacob is so into his Hot Wheels! My brother was like that growing up! My daughter loves the snapchat filters, as well. She loves "being" a puppy.
ReplyDeleteYes, the puppy is one of the favorites in our house, too! They just crack up every time it "licks" the screen. Lol.
