Our
weekend started out a bit crazy. Olivia
woke up throwing up again on Friday (for the third time in a month) and B had
to stay home with her. Not sure why this
keeps happening, but I think it’s possibly a) two year old molars causing her
to have a lot of saliva that’s causing her tummy to get upset or b) a food
allergy. I just can’t imagine that she’s
gotten a stomach virus three times in one month. That doesn’t seem right at all. Plus, she only throws up two or three times
and then she’s perfectly fine for the rest of the day. Not to mention that none of us have ever
gotten sick after she has. Whatever it
is, it needs to stop because B and I have missed a lot of work because of it!
Anyway,
when I got to work Friday morning my mind was already spinning, and then I got
a text from my sister-in-law saying that she thought she might be going into
labor! (You can see their baby shower
that I threw back in December here.) Sure
enough, an hour or so later I got another text that her water had broken and
that she was definitely in labor. I had
the hardest time concentrating at work after that because all I wanted to do
was pay attention to baby updates.
I
managed to make it to the end of the day, I picked Jacob up, and then he and I
headed to Chick-fil-A and Cracker Barrel to pick up some dinner and take it
back home. Olivia had been fine for
quite some time by then, but we didn’t want to take her out to eat and risk her
getting sick in the restaurant, so we enjoyed a quiet evening at home that
included an early bedtime for the kids. B
and I watched Dirty Grandpa and it was really funny. Super crass, but really funny. All the while, my sis-in-law was laboring
away and the baby still wasn’t here yet.
Saturday
morning I awoke to the news that the baby was still not born because things
were progressing so slowly. Jacob had
back to back birthday parties at a local gymnastics place, so we headed over
there at noon. For the first party he
just flat out didn’t want to participate.
I don’t know if he was being shy or what, but he wouldn’t go near the
foam pit or trampolines or anything, and he would barely even talk to his friends. Finally, at the end of the first party he
joined the kids for cake and presents and then by the time the second party
started he was all warmed up and ready to go!
They
did some warmups on the mat, jumped in a big foam pit, jumped on some
trampolines, and then they ran down a long trampoline and went through an
obstacle course. They rounded out the
party by playing with a big parachute and then had cake and presents… again. Jacob participated in every single activity
for the second party, so it was really bizarre that he wouldn’t set foot out
there for the first one. #KidsBeCray
During
the party I was texting like a madwoman with my brother and my mom trying to
get the scoop on the baby, and finally, at 2:07 PM after 30 hours of labor and
no epidural, my very first nephew on my side of the family came into this world. Mommy and baby are both doing fantastic. It’s killing me that they’re a thousand miles
away and I can’t snuggle that sweet little thing, though. We’re hoping to fly out there to see him
sometime in the next few weeks, though.
Anyway,
Saturday evening we decided to skip church and go out for a very early dinner
since Jacob was so worn out (and sugared up) from two birthday parties. We went to one of our favorite local
restaurants downtown where I had a glass of wine and my favorite salad of all
time – their spinach and strawberry salad with steak tips. Oh, it is to die for. After dinner, we headed down to the river
where they were having a beer and burgers festival. There was live music and the place was
packed. We let the kids play on the new
playground and then we took a walk down by the river. We ended the day with frozen yogurt before
heading back to the car. B and I watched
another movie – Train Wreck – to finish off the night. We’re on a roll with the movie watching!
Sunday
we had lunch with B’s fam and the kids had fun with bubbles on the trampoline in the back
yard. Then Sunday evening Brian’s dad
and my brother (not the one who had the baby) came over for pizza for dinner. We Skyped with our other brother and sis-in-law so we could see the new baby and we played frisbee, blew bubbles, and played in the back yard. It was a perfect evening... aside from the two cranky babies at the end of the night. Womp womp.
Any weekend that we gain a new family member is always a good weekend! I just cannot believe that my baby brother is a daddy. Congratulations, Zachy and Cheryl! We love y’all so much!
Have a great week, everybody!
Congratulations! Your nephew has a great birthday. ;) lol!
ReplyDeletePoor Olivia. I hope this stops happening. Yay for baby! Congrats on your sweet nephew. I'd say overall you had a pretty great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Auntie!! How exciting! Your weekend sounds super fun/relaxing despite Olivia's throw up on Friday. I wonder why that is happening? I hope that goes away!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh congratulations Aunt Lindsay! How exciting. Are they sharing the name? So sweet. So sorry to hear about Olivia. That's just no fun. Looks like you were able to enjoy lots of time outside too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYay! What a fun weekend and congrats, Aunt Lindsay! So happy and excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope Olivia stops feeling icky. So weird. We were driving home from our vaycay yesterday and Henry suddenly mentioned he felt sick. He ended up throwing up (in an empty container, thank goodness) and then he was completely fine. I'm thinking motion sickness - since we hadn't been in a car for a week. Poor babies! I hate it when they feel icky.
Oh and I must say, Olivia's hair is getting so long. Oh my gosh, she's adorable!
Have a great Monday!!!
Poor Henry!! Gosh, I hope our kids never get any kind of motion sickness... I used to have it when I was little and it was just awful. Thankfully I outgrew it!
DeleteHave a great week, Marie!
Ah congratulations to you Auntie! So happy that little miss is feeling better- hoping that her Friday sickness doesn't come back! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new nephew! I had gymnastics birthday parties growing up and they were always my favorite ones haha!

Congratulations Auntie! Sorry to hear that Olivia was sick again. It's always sad when a little one is sick. I hope it stops happening. Poor little thing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Auntie!!! You always have the best weekends!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurie!! We try to cram as much goodness into the weekends since our weekdays are pretty much all business. :o)
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! I love all of your outfits. New babies are so exciting! I know the feeling, my nieces are so far away too!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so sad?? I was so happy and sad all at the same time this weekend. It's really tough when they live so far away.
DeleteI hope you find the reason for Olivia's tummy troubles soon.. I almost hope it's a food allergy, at least then it would be (hopefully) easy to avoid. Austin has done that at a birthday party before.. gotten really shy and didn't participate which isn't like him. Cake always helps though. :-) and congrats on the new nephew!!! What a sweet little bug!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEeeek - congrats on your new little one, Aunt!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it is that keeps happening with Olivia. I bet it could be teething related. So strange though. Hopefully it passes soon! 30 hours of labor and no epidural? Your SIL is a rock star! Congrats on your new nephew, auntie! Sounds like a great weekend - love all the pics!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the pukes, that is NEVER a good start to any weekend or day for that matter. 30 hours?! Whoa, what an amazing mama that little one has. I am so sure he was totally worth it though :).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Auntie!! :) You guys had one busy weekend! Hope this is the last of Olivia's sickness too.

Congratulations to your family! XOXO What a sweet baby!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that Olivia was sick again. That's so frustrating. If it keeps up, maybe check into Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. I have a few friends with kids who have it! It's not a big deal-just a pattern of getting sick. Poor thing!
Thank you so much for the tip, Stefanie!! I'm going to Google this now!
DeleteCongrats!!!! Chelsea @ thewilliamsjourney1.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete30 hours and no epidural?! Rockstar status. Congratulations to your brother and SIL!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new baby nephew. He is adorable and way to go to your SIL. 30 hours of labor and no epidural. But your weekend looked like a lot of fun. I think Olivia's throwing up has to do with her molars. My girls have that happen when they got their molars and now eye teeth.
