Here’s what’s
been going on in our world lately…
O N E – Jacob’s Preschool Graduation
The graduation
was Wednesday morning at 8:30. He, along
with all of his classmates and the other pre-k class, walked up on the stage and
sang a few songs first. Jacob, typically
the class clown and funny man, has apparently inherited his mommy and daddy’s stage
fright. While all of the other kids were
singing their little hearts out, he barely even moved his lips. We did get a few shy smiles out of him, but
he looked relieved when they exited the stage to come join us in the audience
for their slideshow. That sweet boy.
I held it together
during all of their songs (mostly because I was so concerned with the fact that
his shirt was untucked – haha) but once the slide show started, I couldn't help
but tear up. Being a mother sure is sad
and terrifying and amazing and wonderful all at the same time.
After the
graduation, the class was released, so I took the day off to spend with him,
just the two of us. We went to Walmart
for a couple of things and I let him pick out a Hot Wheels car, we met B for
lunch at Jason’s Deli (Jacob’s choice), and then we ran to Bath & Body
Works for me followed by Barnes and Noble so he could play at the train
table. After that, we headed to our
favorite frozen yogurt shop, and I let him go all out and get all of the
toppings that he wanted. His choice? Cotton candy and vanilla froyo with gummy
bears, sour patch kids, and gummy worms.
He loves everything gummy! After
that, we spent some time outside and then headed home to play with his new Hot
Wheels car on his Hot Wheels garage.
He has been a
bit emotional this week as well, maybe from the impending changes looming or
maybe because his mood has been reflecting my mood.
Who knows. But it was a good day
with my favorite little boy, and one that I’ll hold close to my heart forever.
Our back yard
is huge. Huge. We originally left a
large natural area at the back with the intention of planting some shrubs one
day. Turns out a natural area is even
harder to maintain than just having good ol’ grass, so we recently hired a
landscaper to come and sod the rest of the yard as well as add a few new things
around the front yard – an Emerald Green Arborvitae in the front bed for some
height, a loropetalum by the front porch for some color, two tea olives
flanking the air conditioning unit to one day provide some shade, and some
roses similar to knockout roses (I can’t remember the actual name) and another
loropetalum by the mailbox since there was nothing there previously.
The guys also pulled
up all of our old cedar and put down fresh pine straw to complete the look and
they even trimmed our trees and shrubs.
The yard looks fantastic right now, and I’m hoping that everything (besides
the weeds) will continue to grow and grow.
As I’ve mentioned before we do not possess green thumbs, so I’m praying
that we don’t kill everything.
Since we had
the yard sodded, we had some construction equipment in the back yard for a few
days, so the kids were in heaven.
A couple of
months ago, a new teacher joined Olivia’s class, and apparently she loves to do
hair because Olivia has been coming home with a new hairstyle every single day. Top knots, ponytails, pigtails, twists, you
name it. Olivia is absolutely loving it
and she is constantly talking about Miss Amanda and how she does her hair every
day. I guess I need to step up my game
because I struggle doing other people’s hair.
I have no problem doing my own, but it’s hard doing somebody else’s!
F I V E – A New Toy for Moi
B and the kids spoiled
me on Mother’s Day this year and bought me an iPad. I’m fairly certain that I’m the last person
on earth to have one (or any kind of tablet in general), but I didn’t want one
for the longest time because I didn’t see a need for one. I used my laptop when I needed to do the big
stuff, and I used my phone for my casual internetting in the evening. However, blogging and everything that comes
along with it finally brought on my desire for an iPad, and now I’m wondering
what I ever did without it! It is
fantastic! And it’s rose gold and soooo
pretty.
Well, that
pretty much sums up what’s been going on ‘round these parts… what’s new with
you?

Aww..such great pictures from Jacob's graduation. He looks so proud. What a special day you both had afterward. Very nice changes to your yard. The picture of the kids in the bucket is so cute! My kids would have loved that too. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI still can't get over the cutest of Olivia's top knot. Adorable! Your yard is huge!!! Looks so pretty though. Perfect for the kids to play. Loving your ipad...don't worry, I still don't have one so you aren't the last person to get one. :)
ReplyDeleteLove Olivia's hairstyles! And the fact that your yard really is huge! There's no telling how many lots that would be in our subdivision. And you will love your iPad! I got one a few years ago and use it a lot!

I love all those pictures from the graduation!! Is Jacob's kindergarten full day? Just try and enjoy the summer and savor the time because girl, we know it goes too quick! How in the world am I going to have a 1st grader and a 6 year old soon!?!? I mean, HOW!? I'll cry if I keep thinking about it...
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks soooooooo good!! I love Olivia's hairstyles, I wish Ella would let me do stuff to her hair but she is Plain Jane when it comes to that stuff. And your ipad, gorgeous!!
The picture of you & Jacob is the sweetest! What a special day!
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks great! A swing set would be perfect! ;)
Yay for your new ipad - such a sweet gift!! And congratulations to Jacob on being on his way to Kindergarten!! That's so fun, but I know a little tough for you girl!! Have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI love Olivia's hair! It looks so cute! I wish I could do a top knot. Congrats on Jacob graduating pre-school, I actually remember mine and it was a very long time ago. That is so awesome that you got an ipad for Mother's Day. You will love it.

I love all the graduation pictures. So sweet! Wow, your yard is big. I'm sure your kids love it. And I love your rose gold case... so pretty. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Jacob graduated and goes to Kindergarten next year. So crazy. Great photos of you three. I love how big your yard is. And I love grass. My husband wants to do less grass and I refuse to let him cut it out. Ha. I love my iPad and Rory didn't think he needed one, but he borrows mine all the time. They are the best!
ReplyDeleteYay for preschool graduation! I love the first picture of the three of you - so sweet! And I also love your Mommy/Jacob day - how fun! Olivia's hair! Adorable! Mila refuses to let me touch her hair, but she lets her teachers do it and it always looks so cute! The French braids are my favorite - I wish I knew how to do those! I just got my first iPad (mini) in February. I love it, but I must admit - I really don't use it often. Which is why I could never justify buying one for myself. The color of that case you got is so pretty! Have a great weekend, Lindsay!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have always felt like I didn't need an Ipad either but sometimes now I do think it would be nice!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's so convenient and now I'm wondering how I ever lived without it for so long!
DeleteI want your big backyard!!! Seriously. And that will be me next year when Austin graduates pre-k... And I'll email you, sobbing, asking how to handle all the emotions. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that you were so focused on the fact Jacob's shirt was untucked. That is so me! That backyard is gigantic! Wow!! I'm terrible at doing hair on both myself and my little. I need a Miss Amanda in my life! haha
ReplyDeleteAww Lindsay, I'm sure the graduation has you in such an emotional state. I can imagine I will be the same way. I'm so glad that you guys got some Mommy/Son time to celebrate his big accomplishment. Go Jacob!
ReplyDeleteOh my cuteness! Look at Jacob on his special day and Olivia's hair is adorable. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour yard is awesome! I wish our yard was a bit larger. Your kiddos must love all the space. It looks great!!!
Thanks, Marie! Sometimes I think it's too huge, but it's nice for the kids to be able to run around like little maniacs and have plenty of space! Haha.
