For
New Year’s Eve, we got Carrabba’s takeout and did fireworks in our back
yard. The kids loved the fireworks, especially Jacob… he loves doing sparklers
every year. Brian and I had a little fun
and did some long exposure photography with my fancy camera and the
sparklers. Not too shabby for
amateurs. :o)
My family all came over to our house to spend some last moments together before my brother and sister-in-law had to head back to Texas, and we had some fun with my selfie stick. I was sad to see them go, but I’m excited, because the next time I see them it will be to meet my new nephew!!
After
everyone left, we put the babies to bed and Brian and I toasted the new year
together with some cookie cake (what else) and champagne. This was the thirteenth year that I’ve kissed
him at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Craziness.
New
Year’s Day was spent taking down the Christmas tree, cleaning the house, and
working on some projects that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. We didn’t have our traditional New Year’s Day
dinner of pork chops, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, and turnip greens, and
instead we went to Outback to get out of the house. Then B and I spent the rest of the evening binge watching Parenthood by the fire.
Saturday
we had donuts for breakfast and then watched our Georgia Dawgs play for the last time this season. We played Penn State in the Taxslayer Bowl,
and we had a nice lead, but almost let them come back in the 4th
quarter. Luckily, we were able to hold
them, and we won by a touchdown. It was
quite a nail biter toward the end, though.
We finished the day with church followed by Mexican and margaritas for dinner.

Sunday
was our final day of Christmas break, and we wanted to spend it having fun, so
we took the kiddos for pizza and then to the playground. The weather was cold, but it was finally
sunny, and it was nice to get some fresh air since we haven’t gotten much
during these last few weeks.
All
in all it was a great weekend, and today we’re just trying to get back in the
swing of things. I think we all still
have a Christmas hangover from too many late nights and sleeping in every
morning. 6 AM sure came early this
morning. But one thing that surely makes
up for the first Monday back after almost two weeks off? The Bachelor is back on tonight!!!! Well timed, ABC. Well timed.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Lizzie! They're fun to do, but it's hard to write the words backwards so it takes a little practice first!
