Summer's Last Hurrah

First off, my baby started PK4 today, snazzy little uniform and all.  I think I’m still in denial because I haven’t even cried yet.  Not one little tear.  When this finally hits home, it’s gonna be ugly.

We had several special events this past weekend as a last hurrah for summer, and we ended up getting Jacob good and exhausted just in time for him to start waking up earlier for his new school routine.  Oops.

Saturday morning, one of his best friends at his old school had a birthday party at an environmental learning center, and the kids had a blast seeing all of the alligators, snakes, turtles, and fish.  Jacob got to pet a baby alligator, and he wasn’t scared at all…  He wasn’t even a little bit hesitant.  Then he got super close to a python that was literally as big around as his head and he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Has anyone seen my child?  If so, please return him because we don’t know what to do with this imposter.

After the party, we had just enough time to run home, grab Brian, and head to Atlanta for Jacob’s first major league baseball game.  Brian’s mom kept Olivia at our house, because we knew she would be miserable if we tried to make her sit still for three hours.

When we first arrived, Jacob was in awe of the enormity of the stadium.  We walked him all around letting him take in all of the sights and smell all of the yummy smells.  He had his first ballpark hot dog, and we also let him have Dippin’ Dots as well as some popcorn.  Spoiled rotten, I know, but we wanted him to have the true ballpark experience.

My uncle was chosen to sing the National Anthem, and he did such a fantastic job!!  The game started at 7:10 and by then we had already been there for three hours, so just as we were sitting down to watch the actual game Jacob said, “When are we leaving?”  Ha!

Needless to say, we only stayed for four innings.  We had a long drive home and Jacob had skipped his nap for the day, so it was definitely for the best.  And did I mention that it was hot as a mother outside?  Yeeeeah, I wasn't sad at all to leave that blistering heat.  Plus, we aren’t huge baseball fans anyway, so it really wasn’t a big deal leaving early.  However, if he ever pulls those shenanigans at a Georgia football game, he will be taking Greyhound back home.

Only kidding.

But no really…

My uncle is the one in the middle... and on another note, it is impossible to get a good picture of a screen with your phone...

Sunday we had a little bit of down time early in the day, so we took the kids out for lunch, and then they both took long naps.  Then Sunday evening we headed over to my aunt and uncle’s house for a party for my cousin who is leaving us to become a Georgia Bulldog this week!  I’m so proud of her, and she will be dearly  missed, but I’m sure that we’ll be seeing her in the near future on GAME DAY!!!!

Is it time for college football yet?!
