Finally, a Normal Weekend!

Happy Monday, friends!

I’m happy to report that we finally had a low-key weekend, and boy, was it a breath of fresh air after the last couple of chaotic months.

Friday night we took Brian’s dad out to celebrate his birthday, and then he came back to our house for cupcakes and lots of bubbles on the back porch.

Saturday, my girlfriends came over and brought aaaall of their babies over for a playdate.  It was the first time we’ve been able to get all of them together at the same time in months.  We have seven kiddos (four under the age of two) among us plus one on the way, so it was pure chaos!  They played in the sprinkler, blew lots of bubbles, laughed and fussed, and ate lots of snacks.  We tried to get them all together for a picture, and this was the best we could do… one refused altogether, so he’s not even in it.  Haha.

Saturday evening, Brian and I took the babies to church and then out for Mexican food (and margaritas for Mommy and Daddy).  Both of the kids always love Mexican… Jacob loves chips and salsa, and Olivia loves rice and beans!

After Mexican, Brian and I snuck through the drive through of Dairy Queen to grab some Blizzards for later, and Jacob started asking questions…

“What’s a Blizzard?”  “Are we going to eat it now?”  “I want ice cream!”

So much for being stealthy.  ;o)  We did enjoy the Blizzards after the kids went to bed, along with a foot rub for me, a back scratchin’ for Brian, and a couple of episodes of Parenthood.  #MeanMommyAndDaddy #DontJudge

We at least let them play in the yard before bed.  ;o)

Sunday morning we awoke to a thunderstorm.  That is one of my favorite things to wake up to on the weekends… nothing beats the sound of rain drumming on the roof and thunder rolling in the distance while you’re all cozied up in bed.  The babies came in our room and we all snuggled in the bed for a while.  Then they played with toys at the foot of our bed while Brian and I lazed around some more.  It was so nice.

After breakfast, I randomly decided to start refurbishing our old buffet table that we recently moved to the kitchen.  It’s been on my to-do list for some time now, but it has not been a high priority.  I, however, got a wild hair and decided to go ahead and get on it!  I will post more about it later this week, but in the meantime, here’s the before picture.

For lunch, we took the kids for pizza, and then we stopped by the pet store nearby to let them see the bunnies, dogs, hamsters, and snakes.  Ew.  We topped off the afternoon with some frozen yogurt (since we were so cruel and didn’t share our Blizzards last night).  Jacob had Cotton Candy, Brian had Pineapple, Cotton Candy, and Blackberry, and I had Birthday Cake.  Mmmm mmmm good!

Sunday afternoon Olivia took a long nap and Jacob had some quiet time in his room, and I finished up the buffet table and spent some time in my office.  As always, I turned on some tunes – Rod Stewart’s first Songbook album – and I worked on both of the kids’ baby books.  Jacob’s is now current, and Olivia’s is getting mighty close.  I just need to develop a few pictures from recent events!

When the kids awoke, we headed to my parents’ house for our usual Sunday dinner, and my Mama Cass (grandmother) came to join us.  It was a lovely evening of good food, good wine, good conversation, and good music humming in the background.  Oh, how I love Sunday evenings with my fam!

I hope all of you lovelies have a wonderful Monday evening!
