We did have a
great weekend, though! Started it out
the right way with Five Guys for dinner Friday night… mmmm mmmm good! After Five Guys, we did a little shopping at
the strip mall, and then we took the kids to Barnes and Noble AKA Jacob’s
heaven. That boy loves books. And I’m not one
bit mad about it.
Olivia has
finally gotten to where she loves books as well. For the longest time she just wanted to play
with them (or throw them on the floor), but for the past three or four months,
she has really started enjoying reading.
Every morning after I get her ready for school, she toddles over to her
bookshelf, selects a book, starts flipping through the pages, and “reads” aloud
to herself. It is darling.
Both babies
loved the book store so much, and we let them each pick out a book to take
home. Jacob chose Rocket Town by Bob Logan and Olivia chose Ten Tiny Toes by Caroline Jayne Church. They are both really cute books. I love that our kids both love reading as
much as I do, and I hope that it’s something that they both love forever.
Tiny baby shorts - I can't even!! |
The kids both kept
eyeing the pool at my aunt and uncle’s house (I keep telling Brian that we need one) but we weren’t dressed for
swimming. Olivia would have jumped in fully-clothed
if we would have let her, but she settled for sitting on the steps and
splashing with her feet. Jacob was more
interested in the waterfall and I think he couldn’t have cared less about
actually getting in the water.
Saturday evening
we stayed home and let the kids play outside.
We turned on the sprinklers to water the grass before heading in, and
that turned into some impromptu water play, fully-clothed! I guess all of that time spent around the
pool earlier made them want some water action.
We wrapped up the evening with sparklers on the back porch since the
fireworks at Brian’s company picnic got rained out Thursday night, and the kids
really enjoyed that.
Future UGA quarterback? You saw it here first! |
Sunday, Brian
and I finally took the time to accomplish several tasks that we have been
needing to work on, and we had a very productive day. We are always so busy on the weekends, and we
have been neglecting a lot around the house, so it was nice to finally get some
things accomplished. We finished painting
the guest bathroom, we hung shelves in the guest bathroom (that we’ve had for
literally almost two years – ridiculous), we replaced our curtain rods in the
living room with sturdier rods since I recently hung curtains in place of
valances, and we tied up a bunch of loose ends that have needed tying for a long time.
We turned the
kids loose at our favorite playground after lunch to let them get some fresh
air after being cooped up in the house all morning, and they had a blast!! Olivia finally made the official switch from
crawling to walking this week (waaaahhhh!), so she walked and walked and walked
all over that playground. I have to
admit, it was nice not having to carry her all over creation in the heat, but
man, I still cannot deal with the fact that my last little baby is officially walking
now. :o(
Still duck-facing after all these months. |
Pure sunshine! |
Seriously, these two! |
We went to my
parents’ house for spaghetti and vino to round out the day, and it was, as
always, a great end to a great weekend.
I hope your Mondays
were great… I know mine’s about to get a whoooole lot better because The
Bachelorette is back tonight! Y’all
enjoy… I know I will! #GuiltyPleasure #TeamKaitlyn
I remember when Eliza wouldn't sit and listen to any books - I'm happy to say that she has finally transitioned into a book worm. LOL! I'm so happy you're a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan! Me too! This season looks super fun and crazy, as usual!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was worried Olivia was never going to like reading, but she adores it now!
DeleteAnd yes, girl, Bachelor/Bachelorette is my guilty pleasure for sure... I LOVE it!!
